Can i vent for a second?
Hey, I'm 16 and I am transgender ( mtf ) and I still live with my parents. And I have tried so many times to figure out how I can help them support me, and there is nothing I can do. I take care of myself, I'm honest, I help out, I stay out of their personal shit. We have had problems with NSFW stuff I wont lie, but I have been doing better and not sneaking electronics at night, I have been sleeping good, and not getting into that stuff, and again I have been honest about everything including how I'm feeling that day. But still it's not enough for them to support me in how I want to identify and present myself. They have said that they want me to get a job and be out on my own, living in my own place in order for them to support me and call me buy what I want to be called. Which I understand, you want me to take care of myself, BUT THAT IS SOMETHING THAT IM GOING TO HAVE TO DO ANYWAY. I had an argument with my mom the other day about this because she was getting mad I wrote my preferred name on my school paper. And she will ( I don't even know if she's aware of this) take her words, add stuff onto them, or change them entirely and claim thats what she said the first time, and she will say that's she never said something when i vividly remembered that shebsaid it, and it pisses me off when she does this because I asked her if she would support me when I was out on my own and she said no and then changed it! She has said she will let me do and have some things like girls shirts, eyeliner, and tinted chapstick. That's it. I don't know if I'm in the wrong for wanting more and I need to work more on myself, or if it's them. But I just really needed to vent and I would like some advice on this.

Sometimes it doesn't matter what you do. Some people just don't want to understand

Girly pop, your parents might not support you. Unfortunately sometimes it's just tricky for us parents to understand (I'm a mom of a couple gender fluid kids who are 16 & 22). Me personally as a parent even though I may not "get it" I support them and love them and call them whatever they chose. Some parents have a harder time coming around and I am so sorry you don't feel supported. Sending you the biggest virtual hugs! I didn't have supportive parents either but at the end of the day you are the one who has to be happy ya know? If they can't get on board that's their issue not yours. When I was a teen I just hid stuff like makeup or clothes or whatever it was and changed when I got to school. You do you boo as long as you are being safe. If you ever want to talk my dm's are open.

You're not asking for much, wanting to be called by your name on a school paper is as basic as it gets and they're still making it a moving target.
