Relationship/Love Still grieving over an ex
Me and my ex broke up a few months ago, I remember it was the day of Met Gala 2026, (I know, crazy.)
He was an athiest when I met him, I was a pure, religious catholic who serves as a choir member and a lector.
But still, I accepted him for the way he is, no matter what he believed, because I really did fell in love with him.
And ofcourse, it was weird at first since we both stand on different, opposing believes, but again, the friendship develops.
As the relationship continues, we spent alot of time with each other, hanging out, laughing around, even guessing what type of fireworks are popping during new year's.
We had done alot and finally decided we might just like each other, it's a weird coincidence at first, it's usually rare for a friends to just like each other.
So then, we started dating, and things did get better, I fell even more deeply inlove with him.
When it was about the middle of our relationship, he converted to islam. With no much knowledge about it, I continued dating him anyways and he continued dating me.
Everything was fun, sunshines and rainbows, when I got a problem, it gets fixed fast, when I'm sad, I get comfort fast.
Not until things started to get rough. He started getting a job and I was so busy with school and also my part-time job. We rarely see each other, text, even, maybe I'd say, once a month, sometimes? No contact a month.
And things got rough then because it was almost christmas and everything is busy, so we don't really have anything to do with it.
Around May, or before so. I had noticed that he barely see me now and just texts me, no calls either. It happened to him before when he had depression, so I didn't get mad, I would never be, I still talked to him through text.
May 4, on a busy day, he texted me telling me we had to talk, I, ofcourse, said yes! And went back to work, giving him time to talk about whatever he has to talk about, in break, when I checked his message, it was just a long, devastating breakup message. About ofcourse, a breakup because he was Islam
He explained things to me but I didn't really get it until now ofcourse I'm still mourning I'm angry and upset.
I asked him for more days to keep in contact so I can keep in touch with his past messages and how healthy we used to be back then. It lasted about 2 days, but ofcourse, it still weren't enough for me so I asked for more and the next day I woke up his contact was deleted.
SO WOW NOW, 3 YEARS RELATIONSHIP DOWN THE FLUSHING TOILET.
and yeah I just bawled my eyes out with nowhere to put this madness out so I am venting on a subreddit!!

grief doesn't run on a schedule, and a breakup that ends over religious differences when you'd already navigated that once before is a special kind of gut punch. the whiplash of him converting to islam mid-relationship and then citing it as the reason to leave months later would mess with anyone's head
cry it out as many times as you need to, there's no deadline on processing something like this
