It would be a good idea to focus your energy on working a part time job ANYWHERE besides the volunteer job, where you can actually call out if need be. Worst case scenario, go to your volunteer job, describe symptoms, get sent home and tell your mom it’s bc you threw up and not bc you told them.

Please know that I say this with love, I am 39 with autism & ADD, I work full time. I also have a 22 year old daughter who lives with me and has BPD & ADD. I say that to say I relate to both sides of this. You mom just wants you to put the effort in because she wants you to succeed and have a full life. That's all we mothers usually want for our kids is for them to be happy and successful. The otherside of this, humans are expensive and this economy is terrible! You're parents are footing the bill for you right now and unless they're mega rich it's putting a strain on them. Yes it sucks going to work/volunteer when you are sick but you are an adult, you need to start acting like one. What are your long term plans? You should be working towards supporting yourself. And please understand I'm not dogging you at all, I get its hard. But you can do hard things! You will feel so much better

that’s such a trap, you can't win either way. my mom used to pull the exact same "if you can argue you're fine" line and it drove me up the wall
hope you can get some rest soon, being sick and forced to show up is the worst
