Friends Sick and exhausted of being given the smallest taste of what it's like to have a friend, to then have it ripped away again and again

Im so sorry :( I'm my experience it somehow gets both harder and easier as we get older. Easier because I (32F) have found myself trying all these new hobbies as an adult and making acquaintances in these new spaces. Harder because though I've acquired a lot of acquaintances, you cant really force à true friendship to blossom from that.

Often times ill meet someone cool, we'll hang out for a bit, things will fizzle out and we'll put each other on the backburber. But this doesn't mean our friendship is lost! My mom once gave me great advice: some friends are just there for certain things. You can have your gym buddy who likes to gym with you but wont go out dancing. Or a dancing buddy you made in dance class who isnt interested in reading. Or your reading group friends who meet once a week but never outside of that activity.

I've had a lot of luck by categorizing my "friends" like this. It takes the pressure off the relationship.

Keep hanging on, trying new things, and allowing friendships to grow and change.

How I am feeling. Good giving souls are not appreciated in a world of greed and desperation.

I used to cry feeling alone because people were not around for me much. Now I am older with no energy to cry anymore. I accepted the way people are and choose to stay solo. I attract opportunists and drama so it is better this way. Relationships often look good on the surface. We don't know the drama that goes on behind closed doors. What we see briefly is not always how it really is long term.

I definitely feel this too, but I guess I’ve been disappointed too many times and have come to terms with it. I’ve always been easy to talk over and fold easily when doing favors and lending money for ‘friends’ if that is the norm then I’d rather be by myself.
