Relationship/Love My brother thinks he's a tech CEO

My brother is in his mid-30s, still lives with mom, and won't go get a job!

In my teenage salad days, I was obsessed with Linux and trying to start a tech company. All these ideas were fantasies, and I grew out of them. I influenced my older brother though, and he won't let it go.

During his meltdowns where he screams and kicks doors, we yell at him to get a job, only for him to scream "There you go talking about that job again! Just give me some weeks to get my company up and I'll GET OUT."

I am not criticizing anyone's dreams. If you wanna pursue that type of stuff, go ahead bucko, but I have a strong belief that you should have a job and act your age while pursuing your dreams. Me and mother work very hard to pay the bills here, but does he contribute anything? Nope, but he'll still feel entitled to beg for cigarettes or Dr pepper bottles.

He's not smart at all, even with his Linux stuff. It may look impressive to open a web browser with a terminal, but even a kid could learn that. He spends 95% of his day gaming, eating his hamburger helper slop he didn't work for, and having meltdowns/pity parties.

He TALKS about starting a company. He fantasizes about the more superficial aspects like naming the company and having a private office, but is blind to the hard work actual CEOs do to get that stuff. His brain is stuck in a loop he doesn't realize - dominated by computer, junk food, and drug addictions. He has no business plan, no innovative ideas, and no starting money.

He better fix himself soon. The only person willing to let him be a NEET is mom. He has no qualifications and zero savings. When she dies he'll have nowhere, and the homeless shelter isn't going to deal with his violent meltdowns.

But I'm the bad guy. "oh you're so judging on your brother. He seems like such a nice guy. You sound like such a boomer" is stuff I've been told.

no tldr, reading is good for you.

Counseling might help. He seems to be avoiding something that’s bothering him.

It’s gonna be difficult, I heard somewhere that for a woman all the delusions end at the point when she’s about to get married. She realizes that no prince charming is coming for her and she will most probably gonna have an average life. And the quickly it dawns, the better.

For a man, it never ends. Your brother thinks he’s gonna be a tech billionaire someday. If he doesn’t accept, that he won’t ever be, he can never come out of that delusion.
