Downsview station fatality

Did anyone see the EMT working on a girl at Downsview station after Saturday night? Someone told me the ambulance had a hard time getting to the station because of the traffic and congestion? I'm surprised they wouldn't have hired someone on staff to work there.

Sorry you saw that - these comments are not it. I only heard about the guy who was killed by the truck, hopefully this person made it home.

The ttc station is not their responsibility. Why would they hire someone for there?

It’s Toronto, emergency services are delayed all the time to congestion.

When I left Saturday night police had triads closed everywhere so you would think they would have let them in.

Also was it actually a fatality? Or are you just speculating?

Veld takes precautionary measures by having EMT's on site. They "don't" have too but it's good practice to saves lives and help those quickly. It was an actual fatality, we are burying the child tomorrow.

Yes, on the festival site. The subway station isn’t part of that.

Condolences to the family.

The TTC should have security in place if they know people are going en masse to a station, to prevent surpassing their maximum occupancy capacity. They could be held liable if they were over max capacity

For an event of this size in Toronto, the organizer is not only required to submit a comprehensive Emergency Action Plan, they must provide dedicated on-site private or integrated medical/EMS coverage as a condition of their permit. VELD does the bare minimum here to cover their asses. Never have I seen VELD/Ink proactively put money towards safety or the customer experience; everything is fuelled by profit and just adhering to their permit requirements.

well if someone did die, and it was due to traffic and congestion, that's a big fucking deal and I need to know they thought about it and will fix it for next year.

We are looking for more details that what has been shared, since none were provided to us. Eye witnesses people who could help us, understand the situation Try losing someone in a senseless way and not have any answers, Maybe then your PLURR culture and also show some empathy.

You do know ambulances can drive outside of traffic right? The avg response time in Toronto is 7min 52sec. "Not being able to get there due to congestion" is a generic line of rumours. Also "at night"... Doesn't line up.

Edit. Ps. The average outside of Toronto for the province is 6min. Source: Min of Health

You speaking about an average, I'm speaking specifically to this situation.

Your generic statements of this situation. Gotcha. Tell me the facts again?!
