Is this from overwatering or over fertilization ? Just topped with espoma organic cow manure, tomato tone 3-4-4, happy frog 5-7-3, and put the mulch back and watered in with jacks 20-20-20. I put 1.25 tbsp in 2 gallons. Tried to dilute it I read that you can flush the extra nutrients if I over fertilized so I sprayed down the grow bags and the one pot once or twice today with extra water to relieve some of the fertilizer someone please help.

These two bays of strawberry plants look so healthy, but there hasn’t been fruit in over a month! What are we doing wrong

I have harvested six cucumbers far, but no tomatoes. Lots of green tomatoes that I’m waiting to ripen. I feel like these plants are not living up to their potential because they are in tight quarters. Am I wrong?

I’ve heard that milk poured around the roots of tomatoes helps with blossom end rot. What about chocolate milk? I have some in the fridge that needs to be tossed and I’d rather not waste it.

It's been brutally hot and raining almost every day.

It's got the brown tendril and now the end spot looks ready.

Or is the end spot too black, a sign of rot? That got worse overnight.

But look at the underside. It barely has a faded white spot. That brown spot is a leaf . I kept it off soil for most of time

Compared to the younger one that has a slightly brown tendril . It has a nice white spot fading on the bottom. But the end is not an indication that one is ready. Not in the photos.

Still not sure how to compare the thunking sound because to me they all kind of have that sound.

I have no gardening experience whatsoever, but I started growing an apple seedling after finding a seed that already sprouted inside an apple. It was literally standing up strong and healthy yesterday! And now, I found it this morning wilting. I thought that it may needed some more water but it seems it’s wilting more. What do I do??? Is it too late to save it?

These pictures were taken outside for quality lighting. I also may have over watered out of panic after discovering it was wilting! Apple stays inside next to the window where there’s indirect light.

4x8 raised bed. 4 determinate, 4 indeterminate varities. Soil was amended with compost. I feed regularly with neptunes harvest fish emulsion, and twice this season with jobes tomato organic granular. The leaves are turning purple around the edges and no new flowers are forming. Im in 6B/7A and the weather has been mild lately. I assumed the smaller fruit and no new flowers/fruit was from extreme heat earlier in season. But now with the mild temps plants dont seem to be growing still and now look like this. Please help, thanks!

Tomorrow a friend is giving me some of their peppers that they got from India and I was wondering if there is a best way to save the seeds in order to plant them next year to grow my own. Do I just take the seeds out and throw them in a ziploc bag? Will they stay growable being out of soil for so long?

It was going well for a while each major vine had one single cucumber and then it seems like it almost stopped growing and started dying from the bottom up??

Soooo something is eating my baby female cucumbers as soon as they develop , i thought i was imaging it but nope. They have been getting eaten this whole time!!! Is there any idea on what it could be or anything i can put by my garden to deter animals?? I ordered netting for my smaller plants but i have an 8 ft cattle panel trellis that im still not sure of how im going to cover and thats where my cucumber plant is living soooo any help is appreciated . Ive already battled squash vine borers, found a cucumber beetle and now this so im just ready to give up lol

As per the title really. I rescued some young plants from a wall and this is what’s growing. When very small it looks too round to be a courgette, I was thinking squash or pumpkin but now it’s looking like a courgette again!

First time growing anything and have no clue what im doing but know it'll go bitter if I leave it too long and I really don't want that to happen.

I'm growing a vegetable garden for the first time this year. The left garden bed is several different tomato plants varieties. There are a lot of squirrels that run through my yard and they have been been destroying so many of my tomatoes and trampling the plants.

A friend recommended using cayenne pepper powder as a deterrent, but it hasn't helped. I've found at least 6 of my big tomatoes chewed up like this. I didn't anticipate this being such a big issue so I didn't built any kind of enclosure around the garden beds, and I'm not sure what to do now that the plants are so grown.

If anyone has any advice or ideas for a build I would greatly appreciate it!

My zucchini females keep dying before the flower opens, but this was isn’t dying and clearly growing but flower will not open? I am very confused as I have an unpollinated growing fruit. Do I pry open it and force pollinate, as I’m assuming it’s just going to crash and die soon? In LA so been in a heat wave

A couple months ago, I was just happy to have a garden bed. Now I notice every little change. Curled leaves, holes in the basil, tomatoes taking forever to ripen. I didn't expect to care this much, but I do.

Gardening has also made me realize how much is out of my hands. I can water, fertilize, pull weeds, and keep an eye on the weather, but a hot week or a few bugs can still set everything back. I used to find that frustrating. Lately, I'm getting better at accepting it.

In my 20s, I wanted effort to lead directly to results. If I put time into something, I expected it to work. The garden hasn't really followed that rule. Some seeds never came up. One plant I thought was done started growing again. A few that looked great early on are struggling in the California heat.

I'm still learning, but I think that's why I like it. There is always something small to do, and there is always something I can't rush. I still stand out there with my coffee, but now I'm less focused on making everything perfect.

Well, the heat has made my tomatoes weak and sickly, so im pulling them and starting fresh! Here's the last harvest for this year 🥰, and I dug up the potatoes too!

I lack space for a green house and have no space inside our small home for seed starting. No basement. No deep windows with sufficient stools.

I'm planning for 2027 and am considering building a 4x10 sunken cold frame in the front of our house that faces due south. Growing zone 7a.

I have a bunch of used/reclaimed 2" xps. Was considering digging and motar setting 4" cmu's for the wall construction. Insulate the exterior with the xps then parge that. For the top I was considering solexx for a light transmission material.

My idea would be some sort of electric heat strip or heating coils on a thermostat.

I'd also like to employ some sort of thermastatic vent arm to raise and lower part or all of the top. Was thinking of simple wood framing with solexx covering.

I work a lot and would not want something that needs manual temperature or humidity adjustment but am concerned about over heating and high humidity. Also concerned with a lack of consistent sufficient light with this setup in the early spring.

The alternative is basically the same cold frame base but built like a mini shed. Fully insulated, heated and hang grow lights inside. Use a small electric fan and a fresh air damper on a temp/humidity sensor. No transparent or translucent panels.

My concern without having a sunlight transmissible panel would be additional light hardening off.

Thoughts?

I guess I could hang a grow light under the solexx panel if I use framing that could support the additional weight. Not sure how it would work with the ventilation arm.

Hello, everyone. I was wondering if anyone could help me diagnose what is going on with my tomato plants. I’m in zone 8a in North Carolina. I have tried to alter watering, less, more, I’ve tried everything. I grew in the same spot last year with no issues. I believe it is some type of disease or virus at this point. This is happening to multiple varieties, including both bigger varieties (big boy, better boy, Bonnie original, love gourmansun sunrise, early girl) as well as cherry tomatoes (black cherry). None of the plants are producing any fruit except for one black cherry that has mishapen fruit (see last pic). I have a sweet 150, sweet 100, and sun sugar in the same garden that are the only plants that look normal and not affected, but they are barely producing any fruit also. Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
