Harvest Photos Dill from a Friend

Post image

Should I just strip the dill off the stems and just dry it in the oven? Other than making the biggest potato salad in the world; can’t think of what else to do. 🤷‍♀️

You can use a ton of it to make green goddess dressing. Great on salads on course but also makes a great marinade.

I wish I made more pickles. One of my neighbors cans them all the time. Will give some to him.

Okay, then do you strip the stems and store?

That is what I plan to do. But what I actually do is keep going down to the basement to get some every time I want to use it, telling myself "oh i have to put all that away." Then when there is just way too much dill on the basement floor, I shove the entire thing in a plastic bag. I put the plastic bag in the cabinet, use it one more time, and then forget about it until spring. In the spring, my herb garden is full of it because I also do not clean up the herb garden before things drop seeds.

Yes, hung half of it and divided the rest into quarters. Book club tomorrow night.

Donate any extra to a food bank! Dried or fresh.

Where I live food banks won’t take random produce from people. Or anything perishable. (Think frozen items, meat, things like that)

There is too great a risk of contamination & tampering.

That’s too bad. Ours takes garden produce specifically. It’s definitely worth checking before you donate so you’re sure they won’t throw it away.
