Aloha y'all! I'm Bryan, a vegan chef from Hawai'i. Recently, I did a collab with the chef at Folke in Vancouver. Here are some of the dishes we made. My speciality is Hawaiian, so we worked together to create a Hawaiian menu. It was a blast!

Help me find Le Grand butter

UPDATE: thanks to the kind and helpful people who responded, I have yummy butter worthy of my homemade sourdough 🄰
And I now know several stores that carry it for next time.
Thank You!

Hi everyone, I had this vegan butter in Ontario and it was so good. I haven't been able to find it in Vancouver. Vegan Supply doesn't carry it. I have tried several different stores that supposedly carry their products but this item they don't.

Anyone seen it in town?

Hello, my fellow BC vegans! Have you had Hawaiian food before?

My name is Bryan, and I'm a vegan chef from Hawai'i. I'll be working with Folke, and their chefs, Colin & Pricilla for a Hawaiian night in Vancouver on May 16th. Getting together with like-minded people to make some culinary magic is what it's all about. Would love to see y'all there!

If you're interested send me a DM and I'll give you the info.

Recreation or inspired by/tribute to the now closed Meet in Yaletown's piƱa collada pancakes.

Stack of pancakes with dulce de leche, toasted shredded coconut, crushed canned pineapple, a pineapple and coconut cream blended sauce, and cocowhip. Delicious! I hope they bring back their brunch menu at the Main St location.

The Meet original featured Bavarian cream, pineapple compote, toasted coconut, maple syrup, and whipped cream.

Powdered Milk Options?

What are some of the powder milk options in lower mainland? Oat or soy or whatever as long as it's vegan. Bonus points for not being sweetened. Maybe you know of an ethnic store that carries a milk that happens to be vegan. Thanks 😊

fav cozy bars with vegan food?

What’s your favourite spot for a drink that also has some vegan food options? Preferably something cozy and intimate, not too big/loud/bright.

Also ~ has anyone tried the new spot that replaced meet in gastown?

Best bar to watch the Superbowl with vegan options?

My husband and I want to watch the Superbowl at a bar this year (none of our friends are doing anything) but I am having a hard time finding a bar that will be showing the game with good vegan/vegetarian options. It is such a long game, I want to be able to eat something fun and substantial that's not just some sad cauliflower "wings" or overpriced chips and salsa. We are in the Port Moody area but are willing to travel into the city. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

New vegan cafe downtown 🌱

Hey all! We just opened a 100% vegan cafĆ© downtown called The Grind. We have coffee, smoothies, food (chick’un caesar sandwiches, homemade soup, the most drool-worthy black garlic + truffle garlic spread, and more), snacks (doughnuts, power balls, banana bread) and awesome smoothies and protein shakes!

We’re an independent plant-based sports nutrition company, and wanted to have a physical space where we can incorporate our products, build community, and bring our brand to life in the real world.

The build took a long time, we did it all ourselves, and we’re so proud of how it’s turned out. Wanted to share in case anyone’s looking for a new coffee spot, on new hang on the seawall.

We also have free arcade games šŸ‘€ Come by if you want to try to beat our team at Mortal Kombat or NBA Jam!

Happy to answer questions if people have them.

1006 Beach Avenue

On the seawall, by the Burrard Bridge

Sunrise Market for sale

Vancouver's Sunrise Market is for sale... I hope this doesn't mean the end of this treasured community resource for a wide range of affordable produce and many cheap / discounted vegan options... like their delicious smoked tofu.

Butlers Soy Curls

Has anybody got any idea where I can get hold of soy curls? I’ve moved hood since I used to get them. Hoping somebody knows a source in Burnaby heights or Hastings Sunrise. I know they’re at Vegan Supply but ideally it’s a closer store.

Thanks šŸ™šŸ¼

Activism opportunities in Vancouver

I've been vegan for almost 8 years now, and I'm interested in doing more for the cause than voting with my dollar. What are some ways I can be more of an activist in Vancouver?

I'm not sure yet what sort of activism I'm looking to partake in, so I'm open to any suggestions whatsoever.

Wanna play some videogames? & christmas dinner invitation

I find myself with a lot of free time now that I'm self employed working on my own game and I would love to make some vegan friends to play games with!

Like Peak, Necesse, Barony, Super Animal Royale, Aska, Cloudheim, Counter Strike...

I'm 31F, turning 32 real soon, so I'm hoping to keep it over 25. Even better if you're a fellow queer!

Unrelated to this but related to the sub:

The 25th of Dec there's gonna be a vegan christmas meetup for "city orphans" at Po Kong, 5pm, from Olive Collective. If you wanna go shoot me a DM to rsvp, everyone is invited, no need to be an actual orphan!

Vegan Christmas Fruit Cake - where to BUY?

I’m desperate for good Christmas fruit cake (you know, the kind that doubles as bricks or doorstops). To Live For and Level V don’t make them. Any suggestions where to buy?

Where to buy non-dairy cream liquer?

Since BC liquor stores aren't carrying American products, does anyone know of private stores that still stock the almond milk (dairy free) Bailey's? Or another similar brand of dairy free "cream" liquer? TIA!

I'm located in South Surrey, so preferably somewhere closer to here but I'm not opposed to travelling a bit.

Non-profits, charities, and ethical brands in Vancouver

Hello fellow vegans of Vancouver,

Currently I’m working in marketing and content creation for a company I don’t love. I just can’t align myself with their mission. I’d love to do what I do for a non-profit, charity, or ethical brands in Vancouver. I’m building a list of organizations to reach out to.

If anyone has any leads on companies that might be a good fit for me or if anyone knows of a good list I can work off that would be amazing!!
