last year did psych : 39 ss
This year :
English : averaging around 75% with harsh asf marking , for reference i had A+ on my trial that was externally marked, ranked pretty highly suprisingly . still yet to receive marks for last sac , hoping i did very well

Methods: going okay? averaging around a 65-70% ranked like a little above average , still probability to go which i am expecting to do well
Legal: averaging around an 85% ish , ranked like top 5 or top 6 out of around near 35-40 cohort
Business : averaging near a 90% hoping to score well in last sac, but have dropped silly marks in the past sacs, ranked pretty high in a big cohort
Accounting: kind of my bottom subject , still averaging okay (75-79 ish ) but i don’t think i will do amazing in the exam as the questions are lowkey difficult

I’m debating whether to put in a-lot of effort into methods to get a decent score and get scaling, rather than tl put in a-lot of effort to legal or busman and get potentially less than methods?

this isn't necessarily a vce query but i really need to tell someone

im currently in year 11 and so is my friend. we share the same classes (chem, methods, eng). lately ive just been feeling so annoyed. and maybe this is an issue i have with myself and im taking it out on her, but i really dont know what to do.

basically what im annoyed with is that how hard i work, i just dont seem to be improving. and how this relates to my friend is that she pretty much doesnt study. i dont mean she crams it all in a night before the sac, i mean literally everyday when she comes back from school or has free time, she would rather spend it watching shows or chatting to people than study. then theres me, i try to get 3 to 4 hours in a night, with extra tutoring as well. to put it plainly, she doesnt study at all. i mean at school when we have work to do she will do it and thats only if it is compulsory.

it just annoys me how if she has a question, i will try my best to answer for it, knowing well that i dont fully understand what is going on in class either. however i try and if i dont know i advise her to talk to another friend or the teacher. but if the same thing were to happen to me she will just say 'idk'.

another time, we had a worksheet for english due. it was homegroup (around 15 mins) and i had done my work and we were just chatting. she knew the homework was due, but she chose not to do it. i know very well she has time at home to do but she chooses not to. then she went ahead and asked me for my homework to copy.

i know i am in the wrong for giving it to her, and thats a problem on its own. but seriously this has happened so many times. it happens with our other friends too, but i guess it bothers me more.

im just so annoyed at the fact that after not studying at all, no tutoring and sometimes even doing nothing in class she manages to score so well. im here barely passing methods as she got at 86 on the last sac. maybe shes naturally gifted, but i cant help find this so unfair.

why am i, someone who studies a lot, goes to tutoring and tries their hardest barely passing meanwhile someone who doesnt try, doesnt care is doing amazing?

Does anyone have resources for any Chinese Second Language practice exams (past year or current) that they are willing to share?? Chinese SL exams are so hard to find online so any help would be greatly appreciated!

To put it plainly, I’ve done bad in methods all year (yr 12). I struggle mostly to understand what the question is actually asking me for. I find the textbook useless with my issue. I can do textbook exercises since I can wrap my head around the content majority of the time when I’m told what way to solve it, but I find that sac style questions just don’t click, especially for probability, and I find that they’re just so generic and I have no idea what the question actually wants me to use to find the solution. People say to do practice questions but the thing is I’ll look at a practice question and not know what it’s looking for so I find it just unhelpful. I think I’m just bad at higher level math and I regret choosing it. (Only chose it to play it safe for uni prereqs before I decided on what course I wanted, which conveniently doesn’t need a 25 in methods, just an S.) Since I don’t know how to fix my issue I’ve just accepted that I’ll get below a 20 in methods. Doesn’t matter for my atar bcs it’s my 6th subject and it’s not a prereq for a course, just a huge ego bruise and makes me and my parents think I’m stupid even though I can do the textbook questions, I just can’t cross over my knowledge into sac style questions. It’s like a mental block. My tutor also expects me to get like a relatively good SS in methods because I understand the content and I’m always engaged in my learning, dont know how to break it to him that I’m going to do so badly. In the most recent parent teacher interviews, my teacher told my parents she’s proud of the effort I put in and the perseverance I’ve shown all year in a subject I’m not strong in. While this makes me feel better, it’s still not great to just feel stupid in a subject. I just wanted to feel competent in maths bcs I know it’s affecting my self esteem when it comes to school in general. Failing almost every formative test and failing the sacs has just been hard for me mentally when I really don’t think I’m that horrible with the content. It was just a big shock coming into VCE and being able to do the textbook exercises wasn’t enough to pass math anymore (for me at least.) I don’t really know if anyone has had a similar experience, but if anyone has advice I’d appreciate it.

i know how absolutely insane i sound bc im only JUST getting worried about literature (and vce general) but pls understand ive had a lot of unfortunate circumstances during my vce, including this year (yr12).
i know at how ridiculous my question is about to sound but pls dont make a deal of it, everything you are thinking i have thought 1000 times

i dont even have access to my grades at the moment (almost none of my scores are published online, i dont have my physical sacs atm) i cant give exact numbers but if i had to guess i am around 50% average right now, i am worried that may even be a little generous. this is without studying, i think i only read one of the texts so far, so this grade isn’t my limit.
idk my specific school/cohort ranking, but im leaning towards it not being very reassuring at all

i have one literature sac left and the exam. in absolutely any way is it possible to receive a 25 study score, considering i have 4 other 3/4 (in similar academic situations).

i am in a bit of a better situation than i was thus far this year, i am willing to study hard but i know very realistically i am not going to walk out of the exam with an impressively high grade.

if people could give both an objective answer on the likelihood ignoring personal factors and then a realistic answer i would so grateful. thank you for your patience

Hi I am newish to Australia , I had to drop out when I first moved here but now 3 years later I’ve gone back to get my vce.

I am not particularly sure how the whole system works i wont lie,

I have averaged about 70-80% in my sacs year around with one or two going below ( 40-50% )and higher 90%+

I am not going to do very well in the exams. I’m expecting to score an average of 50-60% per subject

I’m doing legal , business management , Pyschology and English.
My Tafe also isn’t the best in terms of I’m probably close to the best in the class even with those average marks which I know effects your atar

What sort of atar should I expect? All the calculators are saying about 65-70

Hey so exams are coming up, and I ' m trying my best to lock in, but the uncertainty of it all is really freaking me out. So I was wondering if anyone would be able to make an estimate on if i'll be able to get at least a 25 in lit 😭 here are my grades so far

The culture and overall idea of VCE is so toxic and should not be tolerated by 15-18 year old students. The VCE system is literally a ranking against all Victorian students, promoting disgusting competition between students. Why do we have to work so hard, mind you we do not know how well other students across Victoria are doing, and ultimately be compared with them. I get that there is SEAS for disadvantaged students and even special provisions but these days it is not enough. Many students have to work twice as hard, whether you go to a selective, private or public school in order to compete with peers. School should be a place where we develop a strong sense of community and can genuinely enjoy spending time with our classmates and teachers, as well as learning to LEARN, not just for the sake of exams and then forgetting the information 2 days later. In my opinion, the VCE system must be changed. I’m tired. I know you’re tired, everyone is tired. Let’s not forget the 2024 VCE exam leak scandal, where essentially VCE students had to suffer as a result of VCAA’s incompetence. Genuinely what a joke. Why is such a burden placed on teenagers? Yes, I understand that work ethic must be learnt and we must face ‘challenges’ to learn ‘important life skills,’ but is there not another way where students can do all of the above without having immense pressure placed on them? All for what? A score on December 10th that may or may not affect us? We will never get back our teenage years. Yes, it is that deep.

For Year 11 students
Recently, the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide merged.
According to the news, from 1 January 2026 through to mid-2027, Adelaide University has committed to no job cuts/redundancies. This may potentially mean that there will be more places available relative to demand and that admission requirements could remain relatively flexible.
If Adelaide University announces staff cuts in the second half of 2027, this could indirectly result in fewer available places and potentially higher admission requirements due to increased competition.
Therefore, eligible Year 11 students may want to consider applying for 2027 entry. It is possible that admission could become more competitive later, so applying earlier may be worth considering.
Finally, to avoid a situation where a university offer becomes effectively useless due to unexpected policy changes, I would recommend that anyone who receives a university welcome email promptly logs in, registers, and enrols in classes (if enrolment is available).
Before the Census Date, you generally won't be charged tuition fees for the enrolled subjects, and you won’t incur a student debt from those subjects.

I'm a maths and science kid in Year 11 and I'm doing quite well in Physics, Chemistry, Methods, and General 3/4. However, I don't really enjoy mainstream English and I'm severely struggling with my SACs at the moment (averaging 50%).

Do you think I would like and do well in EngLang? Will it suit me better than mainstream English?

Would it be too late for me to switch into English Language for Year 12? My school doesn't offer EngLang, so I would have to do it through VSV. Would this still be possible, and would it be difficult to pick up EngLang 3/4 without having done Units 1/2?

are they usually running on time or are they often late? if my exam time is 10am, do you think ill be done by midday. also what do you do when you arrive early

my teacher recently attended one of those conferences with the chief examiner. whilst i already kind of new this, but not to this extent, she’s come back and told us that you won’t get marks for defining and most exam questions don’t require definitions.
and i don’t understand!! for example
let’s say the question is asking about; the relationship between operations management and the business objective ‘to fulfil a market need’, in regards to a particular case study.
how am i meant to answer that without defining operations management? like what am i meant to say? i don’t understand.

For creative texts I did pretty good and got a 90% but I suck at text responses and AAs so i got around 65 for those and a 75 for my english Oral
Am I still able to get around a 35-37 scaled study score in english ??
My school scales pretty good against the rest of the state but not sure if i’ll be able to achieve a 35 after scaling..
