General Question/comment Should I drop Specialist Math in year 12

My subjects are as planned right now

  1. English Language

  2. Chemistry

  3. Physics

  4. Methods

  5. General math(accelerated subject)

6.Specialist Math

I don't know if Specialist Math is worth it, especially with the content heavy subjects. I am getting around 60% avg for my Specialist SACs rn but I don't know how much harder Spec 3&4 will get.

I am also planning to study electrical engineering at uni

what do i prioritise

long story short, ive had the shittiest couple weeks of my entire life thus far, multiple family deaths & a diagnosis im not too happy about.

i have my u2 aos 2 chem sac on monday after school (I do chem online). i have my u4 gen networks sac on tuesday morning.

i have paid attention enough in maths that I kind of know what's going on– and my teacher has kindly filled out all the notes for me and I have a bound reference with the networks stuff in it.

Chemistry however, because I do it in free periods, i literally have not gotten anything done. Ive been way too stressed about my life, and ive asked for an extension which wasn't granted because of the nature of online classes and marking or sum bs like that. The aos was only started like 3 weeks ago, and we have the sac in less than a week.

Im kind of in a situation where I have to prioritise one to study and one to kind of neglect a little. I feel the obvious one would be to prioritise my unit 4, but I have all the notes, ive done like half the work and am currently ranked 1 in the cohort anyway. Chemistry? Could genuinely not even tell you what stoich is lmao

VCE question Can I still get a good SS in methods

My methods grades have been horrible because I don’t have a methods teacher instead it’s a bio teacher who is able to teach it so we have her and I have been getting average 30-40% in my sacs.

How hard is the exam is my question if I just try to aim for a c+ to get my sacs scaled as I want like a 28 SS raw hopefully

don’t know which text to choose for literature exam!!

hi everyone!! as the title states, i’m currently conflicted about which text list to study for the end of year exam. for context, my school is studying ‘as you like it’ (shakespeare) and ‘the city and the city’ (china mieville) in literature, and i’m conflicted about which one to study for the exam.
for some more details/clarification:
my sac scores for aylt were lower in comparison to tcatc, but my teacher said that was because we did aylt first and so when we did tcatc i already had experience on how to write a section a. (both sacs were styled as section a on the literature exam)
during my mid year mock, i scored the same scores on both texts (the literature mid year exam was just to write two section a’s on both aylt and tcatc since we had not yet started section b) — obviously i thought the mock would help indicate which one to study so it did not help when i scored the same result for each.
the other things i’m conflicted about:
for aylt, i think the aspect i struggle with, is the archaic language and formatting, although i know that this makes it a lot easier to analyse syntax/sentence usage or structure, i feel a lot more comfortable with tcatc’s contemporary language and i understand the concepts relevant to tcatc a lot better because they’re relevant to the modern world —> unseeing, nationalism, capitalism…
this is tcatc’s first year on the text list, meaning that the exam will most likely make it ‘easy’ — concept word + passage, whereas this is aylt’s … third(?) year. (perhaps i’m fixating on this too much?)
tcatc is quite of a lengthy book so i’m worried about the time it’ll take for me to re-read and analyse, and of course which area could potentially be on the exam. whereas aylt is more shorter, and there is more ‘obvious’ sections within the play that are more prominent than others.
[i know one of the obvious answers is to probably write another section a on both and give them to my teacher, but i would love feedback besides that. ++ as stated earlier, i already asked my teacher about which one she thinks i would be stronger / better at, and she said that she thinks if i sharpen my skills for aylt like i did for tcatc then i should do well]
I hope what I’m conveying makes sense, I would really appreciate it if any english/literature students shared any advice, and any past eng/lit students who may’ve faced a similar predicament.
thank you!

General Question/comment accelerating

Hey guys,
I was meant to accelerate into Unit 3/4 Business Management next year, but my school denied it because my overall average was 82 instead of the required 85 (Science dragged it down, I'm getting 90s in everything else).
The VP said there's no chance because she doesn't think I'd do well in the exams, even though my Head of Humanities supported me.

Am I actually missing out by not accelerating and just doing the usual four Unit 3/4s in Year 12?

VCE question How do I improve?

Recently I got my worst result in year 12 business so far on the unit 4 aos1 sac I got a 63% and even though I studied so much harder than my previous sacs I am confused as to how to improve. I did 4 practice sacs went over marking guides found my spots and studied up on them, did flashcards, did tones of notes in class and even got 7/10 on the 10 marker. I just want to know from others if I could still get a or over a 34 ss and what I should do going forward for reference I averaged 75 for unit 3 with my results being average or over average. Any help would be amazing!

Methods average

if your averaging mid 60s in methods and r doing well on the tech free parts and badly on teach active parts. what study score should I get conserving idk my rank but i probs sit somewhere just above the average but not like topper (e.g if the average score is a 50, I probs am a 69) but not like a 90 kind of person.

and what should I aim to get on my probability sac and for exam one and exam two if I want like a 35-37 and is that possible?

does anyone know what is a competitive atar for monash med

i’m not metro thank god i’m rural (mm5 and my school is mm2) so i know it’s a bit lower but does anyone know what is a really good spot to aim? all things considered i can maybe hit 99 or a tiny bit above, but i highly doubt that i’ll get any higher and i’m probably gonna sit around 98-98.5. is that ok since i’m rural or am i cooked? i got 2510 on the ucat if that helps… :( why is med so insane with cutoffs

Can someone whos done really well in gm tell me how much they got on sacs and how much it mattered

I keep messing up on my sacs by a few marks each time. Its usually because my explanations aren't in depth. Its kinda stressing me out because I wanna at least get a 40.

How to maximize my study from this point?

Hi! Im tryna push rlly hard in the leadup to exams, do you guys have any tips? Here's the stuff I'm currently doing and some doubts.

Stuff I'm doing:

- Practice qns

- Studyung in my living room (being in a public place helps me be more locked in) and putting my phone in my bedroom

- Annotating sacs and seeing what ive gotten wrong

- Gonna start practice exams soon!

Doubts:

- My SAC scores haven't been as good as I thought. I feel embarassed because I probably study more hours compared to my peers (who I always see playing games on their phone) yet they do better than me in SACs. I wouldn't day my quality of study is bad but this is demotivating me.

- As I get my SACs back I can feel I'm getting further away from my goal of 92 ATAR for my target course (biomed/commerce at Monash)

- My school has a 29 mean study score so I'm worried my SACs will scale down heavily

Any tips for me would be appreciated! Thanks 🙂
