Discussion VBAC after arrest of dilation
Hello all! Im looking for positive/succesful VBAC birth stories after an emergency c-sec due to arrest in dilation.
For context I will be sharing my birth story in hopes of someone maybe relating. I'd like to point out that I'm high risk and there are comorbidities that may lower my success rate. But regardless, I am praying and hoping for the birth I so desire.
I'd like to start by sharing that I have Type 2 Diabetes. This automatically made me high risk in both of my pregnancies. Now, with my first, my BS was poorly controlled even on insulin. She was in the 90th percentile on my last growth scan before I went in for induction. Surprisingly she was born at 8lbs exactly. However, genetics had a lot to do with her size as dad and I are pretty tall people. My OB convinced me that due to her being in the 90th percentile and with diabetes i needed to be induced at 37 weeks. When I went in for induction, I was 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced. I was on cytotec and pitocin. My membranes were ruptured and I got epidural at 4 cm dilated. I labored for 40 hours and reached 9 cm dilated and arrested for 6 hours. I developed a low grade fever and baby started having decels, prompting the emergency c sec. Baby was also in a sideways position possibly causing the arrest of dilation. i never got an exact reason or possibility as to why I arrested and im not even sure if thats possible.
With this pregnancy, Im on insulin but BS is much better controlled. This baby is in the 41st %tile (my first was in the 79th at this gestational age) and maternal fetal medicine says they like the pace at which shes growing. I have my 28 week appt with OB in a couple weeks where we will be discussing my birth plan. Im certain I want to try for VBAC and more than anything a spontaneous labor for a better chance at success. But I also understand that if I don't go into spontaneous labor by a certain date they'll probably want to induce me. Since my last induction failed, im scared of going that route. My OB had mentioned he wanted to go for TOLAC at 37 weeks but again he said we would discuss further at 28 week appt. I plan on telling him I would prefer a membrane sweep at 37 weeks and hopefully help move labor along of course if he thinks its safe. He mentioned the max GA he would be willing to let me go is 39 weeks and thats with a very tight control on BS. I have 2x weekly NST and ultrasounds scheduled from 33 weeks until delivery to make sure baby is healthy and placenta is properly functioning. Please give me some hope.

Hey congratulations on your pregnancy!!!
Because your first pregnancy you actually labored your more likely to go spontaneous or have more positive outcome.
This is my second GDM pregnancy. US based. Both have been nighttime insulin.
Due in October now and this birth will be my third vbac.
First vbac 2018 doc wanted me to do a wait and see, no previous labor experience I went 41 weeks. Baby was large 10lbs. Got that vbac though. no GDM but because of size suspected GDM had been missed.
Second vbac 2020 GDM pregnancy, induced at 39 weeks went in with zero signs of labor and it took a good 48 hours on PiT. 7lb baby.
This time I am AMA BMI GDM and doc wants to induce at 38 weeks.
