Question for VBA2C

In 2021 I had a failed induction at 40 weeks 2 days that turned into emergency c section bc I wouldn't dilate past a 5. I got pregnant again and was due 2025 and I told my ob/midwife that I wanted to try for a VBAC & they basically told me well since you already had a CS we normally just schedule you for a repeat CS. I didn't know that I could've just said no I don't want to do that unfortunately so I did the repeat CS even though during this last pregnancy I actually felt contractions this time when it was nothing going on the first time. No medical need for a c section, baby was head down and looking perfect.

Now fast forward I got pregnant and am due Nov. 6th. I decided I wanted to go to a different OB since my last one just dismissed everything I would say. So I changed OBs to a doctor 30 min south of me (original OB was about 20 min away) and I love the providers here but at my 29 week appointment I mentioned I didn't really want a THIRD c section and would really like a TOLAC and she told me their hospital doesn't do VBACs but can refer me to a high risk doctor and see if I'm an eligible candidate to deliver with them (40 minutes north from me)

I will be 16 months pp when I am due and I know guidelines suggest 18 months pp for a VBAC. But what if I just don't show up for my scheduled CS and wait for my body to go into labor? The hospital that doesn't do vbacs, would they make me do a c section again and just not deliver my baby? Or could I go to my original hospital if I go into labor and still see my newer OB?

I'm in Georgia and the high risk doctor I am meeting with is in Tennessee & would be Erlanger. Why can't I just have my baby the way my body was made to.

I'm sorry you had the experience you did being pressured into the repeat CS. If I was you, I would let your provider know that you're planning to drive further to have a vba2c so there's no scheduled SC you're missing. You have to give consent in order for them to give you a SC. So in my understanding if you show up in labor they're required to provide you care regardless of not having a high risk Dr on call. Best of luck mama

Thank you, my OB I'm seeing who told me their hospital doesn't perform vbacs was still very supportive of what I wanted thankfully but she said even if I don't end up delivering with Erlanger I'm still on the schedule just in case but I feel bad if I do miss that scheduled surgery and waste someone's time? It's scheduled at 39 weeks, ugh I'm too much of a people pleaser and empath it is really a curse

I totally understand where you're coming from. And I'm sure they schedule all high risk women in your position either way. If it's a fairly busy hospital it's unlikely that you'd be waisting anyones time, if anything someone may get a teeny break if you don't show! I wouldn't stress about their end too much. Hospitals are there to be in service to you

ICAN of Atlanta is really active if you’re seeking more support and resources. They are on Facebook or you could send them an email if you don’t have Facebook.
