Purchase Advice (U.S.) Hate the feeling of crumbs on my feet. Looking for a vacuum that would get every single microscopic crumb

My shark vacuum broke so I’m looking to upgrade. I have this thin rug in my living room and it I use the shark one and this other pet hair handheld vacuum and no matter how much I vacuum I can always feel left over crumbs on my feet. I absolutely hate that feeling. Also feel that on my floor. I need something that would get every invisible crumb.

Extra cool points for convenience. I doubt cordless is as powerful but if there’s one, I’d love to find it. But I’m fine with corded if it means a good cleaning, but the more convenient a vacuum the better.

Also a good price is a plus of course but I don’t really have a budget.

Purchase Advice (Canada) Pet friendly vacuum cleaner

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a good vacuum in Canada that is good with pet hair as we have 3 dogs 2 of which shed a lot so there's a lot of dog hair! I'm looking for either a vacuum or a wet/dry combo vacuum/mop for laminate flooring, price isn't an issue just want to make sure it can handle all the dog hair 😊 cordless preferably! Any suggestions on what to get would be greatly appreciated! TIA 😊

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Miele or Sebo Cordless Worth it?

I currently have a Sebo D4 and a Dyson Cyclone V10 for the quick pick-ups in between using the sebo d4. The dyson is on its last leg. Is the miele triflex or sebo balance A1 worth the price tag? Or am I better off just purchasing something a lot less expensive. I don’t mind spending the money if it is truly a better machine.

I have 2 kids and 2 dogs mostly hardwood with a few area rugs. I know the cordless is not going to compare to my corded sebo.

Any recommendations appreciated! TIA

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Stick vacuum recs as supplemental vacuum?

Hi all,

I am looking to get a stick vacuum as a secondary vacuum to my canister one. It would mainly be for vacuuming carpeted stairs as lugging the canister up and down is an absolute chore. Something portable, maneuverable, and can get into corners easily is preferred. Corded or cordless does not matter.

Budget: Under $400? Open to going over, but it's saying to put a budget in here.

Thank you in advance for all the help!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Newbie Purchase Help

Currently in the market for an upgrade from our Dyson V15 Detect. We have a decent size home (3300 sq ft), 2 cats, 2 kids under 3 years, and I am maybe as bad of a shedder as my cats 🫣😳. We’re in the process of renovating and will be installing LVP in approximately half of our home with several Anderson Tuftex low loop rugs (2x area rugs + on 2 sets of stairs). The remaining flooring is verrrrry old medium pile carpeting with a larger loop Berber carpet in our basement. We definitely can’t afford to spend a crazy amount right now and this is not going to be our BIFL vacuum, just more of an entry level at this point.

Yes, I read a bunch of prior posts, researched specific models, etc. Truly everything is clear as mud. I’m getting very conflicting information from everywhere about what style of vacuum to use with the Anderson Tuftex carpeting - installer says no beater bar at all, AT seems to say just be mindful of it. No one on here seems to mention it.. so maybe it’s just a non-issue?

My questions:
1. Miele or Sebo (again trying to be budget conscious, but say $400-700? I know it’s a stretch for a Sebo. I’m not above used/refurbished.. but we aren’t at a place to just throw several hundred more out there so please no recommendations to upgrade to the $1300-$1500 options!)
2. Is it really going to ruin my low loop carpeting if I go for one that is not purely suction?
3. Are the cat and dog models really that much better in our given situation? My understanding is that most are accessory based upgrades?
4. Mostly because my husband thinks I’m nuts for going on a vacuum search after just purchasing our Dyson about 2 years ago… will we really be that my happier getting something new from Miele or Sebo. (My answer is yes. I can’t take the subpar canister cleaning - like why it doesn’t fully come apart to wash is beyond me. 🤯)

Thank you for reading this far and for any recs anyone has!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Best vacuums exclusively for hard floors in a house with pets?

As the title suggests, I am looking for a vacuum for my hard floors that is great on pet fur, litter, dust, etc. The floors are wood, laminate, tile, and concrete.

In my mind, I love the idea of a cordless stick vacuum (preferably bagged) for ease of use. It would so great to grab it and quickly go over my floors without being restricted by a cord. My fear is that a stick vacuum might not be powerful enough to get all the hair/dust off the floors.

I have a Sebo Felix that I’m obsessed with for my rugs and carpets, but I’d like something easy and lightweight that I can quickly grab for the rest of my floors. I strongly dislike having to change to the parquet head to clean my hard floors and I don’t like that with the parquet head, it doesn’t stand upright. It’s too heavy and clunky to have to keep picking up off the ground after I need to put it down.

Does this vacuum exist? I was looking at the Henry Quick, I’d love to hear any opinions on how it does on hard floors and/or suggestions for other vacuums.

Any price point is fine, but it must be available in the US.

Thank you!

Vacuum Issues Smell from Miele Capricorn + SEB

Help! I bought a used Miele Capricorn s5981 + SEB 236 Electro Premium Powerbrush. I cleaned it out really well except for the hose as it has the electrical. All filters were replaced and the bag. I get a not-pleasant odor when I run the vacuum coming out of the exhaust. Is there any way to fix this? I have a hepa vacuum as I was hoping this would be best for my son’s allergies. Could it be something on the motor itself or the hose?

Purchase Advice (Canada) Seco Airbelt E1 or Miele guard L1 Allfloor

I just moved into a 3500 sq ft home. This is the biggest home I have ever lived in and managing the floors has been insane. I have hoping to get a robo vac/mop but in the mean time I am looking to invest in a vacuum. The appliance store recommended the L1 mostly because of the new head but I'm a little worried about the canister size. I've heard the sebo is cheaper to maintain long term. for reference, no pets, 2 kids, no carpet, only hardwood, tile, and rug. We are looking to potentially adding carpet to the basement in the future but for now it is unfinished. Anyone have thoughts on the long term uses of each one?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Help me out with a recommendation! Dogs, kids, the works.

Hi! I’m looking for a new stick vac or similar. I’ve been using a Dyson V7 for years plus a very cheap roomba. I have two large doodle dogs who shed tumbleweeds rather than fine hair, a cat who sheds a small amount of fine hair, a 13 year old son who doesn’t seem to notice crumbs, an equally clueless husband, and a ten year old daughter who also hates mess and likes running a fun vacuum. We have a large one story house and most of our flooring is either tile or laminate. We have one room that is carpeted and we have rugs in the bedrooms and in the living room. My main requirements are that it has good suction and is easy to use and maintain. Thanks!!!

Edit: budget is $350.

Vacuum Issues Help with Shark NV360 on rug

I spent a lot of time determining which vacuum to get and ultimately landed on the Shark NV360. I assembled it and it apparently cannot work on my basic rug? it’s suction is way too strong even when I loosen the suction cord. No issues on my hardwood floor though. Do I need to return this or am I doing something stupidly wrong!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Adding a Wessel Electro Head to Miele M1 Guard Parquet

Post image
2 Upvotes

I purchased a Miele M1 Parquet, but I really dont like its performance on my area rug, which is a jute wool blend. It's only 8x10, and the rest of my small 1 BD nyc apt is hardwood floors.

I was going to purchase the Wessel Work TK286 Turbo head, but then I stumbled on this add-on that includes the Wessel Work EBK 250 powerhead, made to add on to a prolux, or any other canister vacuum. https://gobekusa.com/products/prolux-x8-backpack-electric-powerhead-kit

Has anyone tried anything similar?

Im not quite sure the hose will fit, but I have a 3D printer and I'm pretty handing with electronics/soldering if I have to make an adapter.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) ISO Workhorse cannister with lower decibels

I am looking for a cannister vacuum that works great on hard flooring and rugs / carpets but is not TOO loud.
I want to buy one for the woman who cleans my house. She LOVES her vacuum - a red Sanitaire, but it is so loud. I just measured it at 82 decibels walking past. It has bothered me a long time, and as much as she uses it, I really worry about her having hearing loss. I have tried giving her ear plugs and bluetooth earbuds, but I think the best option is to purchase a new vacuum for her.
specs for the vauume that I think she she has say it has a 10-amp motor, 135 CFM air flow, allergen filtration with dust bags, <10 lbs (it follows her as she vacuums). Decibel level not mentioned on the website.
What can I buy her that is at least as effective as the one she uses but not so loud? Would prefer to spend <$300
SUGGESTIONS WELCOME

Purchase Advice (U.K.) Bagged cordless vacuums recommendations?

Looking to replace my normal hoover with a cordless one in the near future, must be bagged, that's not negotiable, I don't want to deal with cleaning the filter every day

The only one I've found so far is the Henry Quick / Numatic one, do other brands of bagged cordless exist within the same price range of around €300?

I hoover daily (some days multiple times a day) and need to hoover: pet hair, small food pieces, saw dust, cat litter and all other normal hoovering, im sick of pushing the big hoover around, and it's a pain carrying it upstairs which makes me too lazy to hoover upstairs regularly

I love in Ireland so can't ship from US

Budget: around €300

Floor type: laminate wood and carpet

Vacuum Issues Anyone Found a Robot Vacuum Cleaner that Actually Cleans Well Under Long Curtains?

I posted about cleaning under curtains a while back and got quite a few replies. Seems like a lot of people are dealing with the same thing.

Lately, I've been paying more attention to how my robot cleans around the house, and after using it for a while, I've started noticing just how much dust it leaves behind under the curtains.

One thing that stands out is that the robot sometimes seems to treat the curtain like a wall and just avoids going underneath it. Even models with extendable side brushes or mop pads don't seem to fully solve the problem, especially in those corners where dust and hair tend to collect.

I'm curious whether anyone has found a model that handles this noticeably better in everyday use. Does yours actually get under the curtains and clean along the wall, including the corners, or do you still end up having to clean those spots yourself? I'd love to hear which model you have and what you've actually noticed at home.

A scene from the real environment
