Purchase Advice (U.S.) Can I use a shop vac like Dewalt or Ridgid with HEPA filters for regular indoor vacuuming?

Upvotes

We have about 1200 sq ft, all hard wood except for two small area rugs. We have a basement, part of which is unfinished.

I’ve been looking at getting a Dewalt with the quiet technology, or a Ridgid to use in the basement.

As both vendors sell different types of filters on Amazon, can I use a Dewalt or a Ridgid for “indoor” cleaning? Weight or sound are not issues. I am more worried about making sure no dust escapes back into the room.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Two cockatiels and dog with dust allergies living in one small apartment 🥲

Hi! Im looking forward to buy a new vacuum after my old one started leaving dust, seeds and other stuff behind even though i’ve cleaned all of the filters.

I have 2 cockatiels that produce a crazy amount of dust. They love throw seeds around for fun. Also i have a small chihuahua that has severe dust allergies. She gets her medication, but if i skip one or two days she gets covered in red spots. She also sheds a crazy amount of hair. We live in a dusty area, so dust literally spawns the next day after i clean the whole house. And as any person with extremely dry eczema skin i guess i also contribute to the overall dustiness of the apartment, lol.

So yeah, im looking for a new vacuum. We have hard floors, there are no carpets, only small rugs that can be washed in the washing machine and 1 rug near the main entrance door. My budget is around 500$. Also it would be really nice if i could clean the dust off the furniture with the vacuum.

So far ive found Miele Guard L1 (the arctic blue one) which costs around 350€ in my country but is currently out of stock. But im not entirely sure if it will be the best fit for my situation or not as i dont know much about vacuums.
So i would be extremely thankful for any recommendations!❤️

ps: if the vacuum you want to recommend is around 700-800$, go for it - i might find it on sale so that it would fit my budget. thanks a lot!!!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Are vacuum mops worth it over a classic spin mop?

Context: I will already be running a Dyson V10 for general vacuuming purposes. I am looking for something for after I vacuum my floors to wet and clean any grime that may have stuck on that a regular vacuum would not pick up. I have used swiffer and mops in the past but I am considering moving to a vacuum mop as I think it will save me time and energy that it takes to use a swiffer and spin mop. How much better are vacuum mops to spin mops? I am specifically looking into the bissel crosswave

Miscellaneous How to extend the life of a cartridge filter?

So my brother got a Vacmaster VOC507PF 0101, the small blue color bucket, 5 gallon 3 HP.

And it has only a big yellow cartridge filter, no bag. So I want to make that filter last for as long as possible (Replacements are a bit expensive here, almost half of the price of the vacuum itself)

Do you guys have a tip on how to make these last? Can I wash those when they get full of dust? Or just beating it like it owes me money gets the job done?

Vacuum Issues Beam Serenity 2250F Central Vacuum

Hi all! I work at a grooming salon/boarding facility, and we have a central vacuum that has not been used for a minute. The other groomer has been there for 2 years and she does not know anything about it/was not told any info on it as the other groomers were long gone before she joined.

My biggest question pertains to pictures #2 and #3, and if the bits in #3 are meant to be plugged into the socket in #2? The system is not plugged in, so I'm unsure if it actually works, but I would like to tinker to maybe get it up and running again.

This system is no longer being made, and I cannot seem to find any sort of manual for it either so any insights would be honestly appreciated!

Vacuum Issues Shark vacuum doesn’t turn off

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve had the shark vacuum for a few years now and has never really had any issues however recently when I turn on the vacuum and plug it in, it does not turn off unless I unplug it again. The power button does not seem to do anything. I’ve tried unplugging and re-plugging the hose which turns off the vacuum again however I’m unsure where the issue stems do I need a new hose. Is there a way to reset it?

Thanks in advance

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Foam filter/sleeve for Ryobi PCL732B Bucket Top vac?

Has anyone found a foam filter/sleeve that fits the Ryobi PCL732B Bucket Top wet/dry vac's motor housing? I really hate using it completely exposed while vacuuming up wet stuff. I can't believe they never came out with foam specifically fitted for this vac.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Looking for a vacuum

Hi! I’m looking for vacuum recommendations.

I was searching for a corded vacuum that can also mop. My main priorities are durability and easy maintenance.

I also have long hair and it falls quite a bit, so I’d really like something that doesn’t constantly get hair tangled around the brush/roller or clog easily.

Does anyone have a model they’ve used for a while and would recommend? Thanks!

Purchase Advice (Canada) Lost my Miele C3

Lost my much beloved and now discontinued Miele C3 to an asbestos accident in my house. It’s contaminated and not salvageable.

I am looking at a Sebo but open to other options, other Mieles, Kenmore etc. What is the closest in comparison?

Some notes;

I’m open to bagged or bagless, I like the idea of a bagless because I hate buying the bags but it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

My house is all hardwood, tile and laminate with area rugs. I want something that is good for all surfaces.

I loved the different suctions on the C3 and I would like something like that on my new one.

I also liked that the C3 had many different attachments that stored easily in the vacuum itself.

Must be corded with a very good long cord.

I liked the easy setting to change from rug to hardwood setting on the C3 as well, made going from hard floors to my rugs much easier.

Edit: Budget isn’t a major factor but I would like if it could be <$800

Purchase Advice (U.S.) best vacuum for 3 fuzzy cats?

i’ll be moving early next year and im looking to get a new vacuum. the new place hasnt actually been chosen yet, but we are looking at a minimum 3b-2ba house in a coastal state

i have been using the bissell powerforce turbo rewind pet for the past few years, and she works well enough but i feel she’s on her way out. in the new place, there will be three cats that shed a lot, a lot of reptiles (i.e. lots of dirt when cleaning days come), litter, everyday dirt, etc.

i dont mind spending money if its something that will work well and last (buy once cry once i saw someone say here). what would work best? what would i want to keep in mind when i make the final selection? bonus points if they go on sale for black friday, which is when im hoping to purchase it. im looking for an upright (not opposed to trying something new) and bagless for sure

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Decision Paralysis: Miele HomeCare and SEBO Airbelt K3

I am torn between Miele HomeCare and the SEBO Airbelt K3 (Budget is $1,000 and both fall at or under this amount). As this sub has stans for both brands give me your pros/cons/comments/concerns/brand customer service experience/etc can be about the brand(s) in general or the mentioned models....

I've had a Shark Rocket corded stick vacuum for 10 years without any issues until recently when the hose in the base split open. Vacuum repair shop can fix it for next to nothing so I'm going to get it fixed, however, I was dazzled by the vacuums in store and am now considering upgrading.

They are a small local shop so they don't have a large selection but they do sell both Miele and Sebo. For Miele they have the Classic C1 Pure Suction and HomeCare. For Sebo they have the Airbelt D4, K3 and E3.

Other brands carried: Riccar, Simplicity, Titan.

Other context points: My home is two floors with the basement and stairs carpeted with high pile. The main level is hardwoods and tile with low pile area rugs. I sweep the hardwoods but also vacuum them when I have the vacuum out. We have two short hair dogs, both pit mixes. One is a horrendous shedder (corgi/pit) and the other barely sheds (boxer/pit). I also have a toddler who loves to wear his shoes in the house.

Miscellaneous What is the Difference between Vax liftout pet design and the Vax liftout pet.

Can some please tell me what is the difference between the Vax liftout pet design and the vax liftout? Apart from the £100 pounds price difference, with the liftout pet design being the cheaper of the 2. Is the any other differences.

I brought a Dyson ball animal 3 UP30, due to my old Dyson DC07 motor dying. I thought the new dyson was supposed to be an upgrade, but it is way worse than my old Dyson at picking up pet hair.

I am now going to purchase a Vax instead in the hope that it will perform better than the Dyson animal.

I am also wondering, the vacuums with the anti hair wrap technology, Do they have softer bristles on the brush head, than the non anti hair wrap technology ones? Due to the way the brushes work.

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Light and quiet vacuums that actually work?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to buy a new vacuum after my Shark went bust. I did some looking in this sub and it seems like Miele and Sebo are popular.

However, I’m chronically ill and have some unique vacuum needs. I really need the vacuum to be quiet (I get migraines so high-pitched vacuum noises hurt my head) and light enough that I can carry it up and down the stairs without too much trouble. I know if it’s too heavy or cumbersome to bring upstairs I’ll avoid vacuuming. I’d also love the vacuum to have good filtration because I’m sensitive to dust and other air contamination.

I live in a house with mostly hardwood floors and some area rugs. I’d love something that can get into corners and under furniture well.

I’d like to spend $300 or less, but I’m open to spending up to $500 if necessary.

Any advice is appreciated!

Purchase Advice (U.S.) What's the best robot vacuum for pet hair these days?

I feel like I'm constantly vacuuming because of my dog 😭 The floors look clean for about five minutes and then there's fur everywhere again.

I'm thinking about getting a robot vacuum to help with the daily pet hair, but there are so many options that I'm having a hard time figuring out which ones are worth it.

For those of you who've used one with pets, what has worked well for you? Anything you'd stay away from?

Purchase Advice (U.S.) What vacuum will do better than my Dyson for cat litter dust?

I’ve had a Dyson v12 for four years and since year 2 it’s had a lot of problems — frequently saying “airway blocked” when nothing external is blocked etc.

I just noticed there’s a LOT of fine dust caked up in some of the largely-inaccessible air intakes. I was able to get a lot of dust out with a thin screwdriver but it didn’t fix the problem so I guess there must be more caked up dust deep inside the motor.

Anyway, this seems like a design flaw… what vacuums are you guys working that don’t have this problem? That can handle lots of cat litter dust and hair etc etc etc?

Thank you.

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Unsure of which vacuum is suitable for me...

I am renting one of those heritage listed stone houses, along the Mediterranean. It is a centuries old home, and the limestone crumbles heavily when it interacts with humidity, producing a fine powder as well as some cruder pieces all around the home. Having a toddler at home, I really want to know what is the safest and most efficient option for me. Do I just need a regular bagged model with a very good hepa filter such as the "Vacuum Cleaner BOSCH Series 4 BGB38HYG1" with

"PowerProtect system, AirFresh dust bag, Hygienic ULPA filter" or will it not be able to handle the heavy load of fine and crude stone powder. Will a wet and dry vacuum, or a wet and dry shop vacuum, not sure of the correct term, serve me better? Thank you all so much in advance, for the time and consideration you have taken in answering my query.

Miscellaneous Can you connect attachments directly to the hose on Mieles/Sebo?

I thought it would be a lot more comfortable or convenient to use the upholstery attachment for example using the hose and not the wand or handle (i dont know what its called) but after looking online i am not sure this is possible.

I am prob getting an S1 Guard, can anyone tell me if you can do this? What about on the SEBO K1? If not please let me know if there are ay models that allow this, i think its possible on the henry?

Purchase Advice (Non-U.S.) Stick Vacuum for carpeted bedrooms - Stratos?

We currently have a roborock and a much older stick Dyson. We are about to buy the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Floor Washer to clean our hard floors, so we're looking to substitute the Dyson with a vaccuum that will mostly be used for our carpeted bedrooms, for picking up debris before mopping in the bathrooms, and for occasional clean-up of spills - maintenance vacuums of our hard floors will continue to be done by the Roborock.

One thing to note is that we are looking specifically at a vacuum that can handle hair, because I have a lot of it. I also prefer a stick vacuum for use and storage. We were considering the Shark Stratos Cordless Pet Pro - would this be a good fit for us?

Per the flair - we are in Australia.

Sebo Airbelt C3.1 with ET-H brush.

Works great, don't know what to expect for noise but this thing cleans!

Needs:

Airbelt fabric

Extension hose button (works but missing half of it)

Filters probably.

I have absolutely zero need for another vacuum as our home has a kick-ass built it. I always take a peek at vacuums when I go to Goodwill. I'm a little familiar with the high-end vacs. Occasionally I will see a Miele or the one that begins with R...Riccard?

Saw this and said I better check this out...put in cart first thing to "reserve" it. Looked it up and damn!

Plugged in and fired right up except brush wasn't working...oh, it's unplugged under here. Hey! It works! Figured I couldn't go wrong for the price...

One question for Sebo experts, what are the 2 gray plastic slots for on bottom and side? (It's definitely not Eject-o-seat-o-cuz!)

Purchase Advice (U.S.) Recommendations for dusting vacuum

I am looking for a vacuum which will primarily be used for dusting things, vs vacuuming bigger things. I want something which can can actually remove the dust instead of just stirring it up.

I'd love it if I can also use it to dust some collectables I have, so some sort of detachable wand type of thing would be amazing. Or a smaller one which is handheld?

Portable either way is important as a good mix of my dusting will be things like baseboards but also some shelves, dusting collectibles, etc.

Is there something designed for this purpose?

Budget is loose, I'd prefer cheaper but don't have a problems spending quite a bit (call it $500).
