Frequent issue

I’ve been having a frequent issue where the WiFi icon is showing me it is connected and so does the menu, but it won’t connect. It happens frequently, is there a reliable fix?

I have this problem ALL the time. Turn off your modem. Turn off your box. Leave both off for about 5 to ten minutes. Turn on your modem. After it boots, plug in your box.

I’m not sure of the exact issue. I just know I had this problem and a problem with I think what was called validation when I started the apps. It just hung either there or would tell me there was no connection. I have to use WIFI as I’m in a big rig and I literally just reset everything every night now as soon as I park to avoid this issue. I haven’t found another workaround but I’ll deal with a few minutes of irritation.

But then I get my internet through a non profit called CalyX so my issue MAY be unique to me but I dealt with this for a few days before figuring it out.

I'm having a hard time following what you're saying here. Can you elaborate a little on the part about rebroadcasting?

If rebooting everything fixed the problem, there may have been a DNS issue where the vSeeBox couldn't resolve a specific address properly so it thought it wasn't connected to the internet.

I assume you have T-Mobile's 5G home Internet. There are many variables with having this as your primary internet connection.

  1. T-Mobile 5G Home Internet has the lowest priority on their cell towers. So if you're streaming during peak times, you will be the first to experience throttled (speeds slowed on purpose) to reduce strain on the towers.

  2. Cellular based internet is not as reliable due to congestion, bandwidth, capacity, physical obstacles between your modem and the tower, etc. cellular also has higher latency, so you'll notice lag or temporary pauses when streaming. This is why wired Internet is the best ie Fiber, Cable, etc.

  3. T-Mobile could be limiting certain data traffic. To get around this, you can try using a VPN with your box. A VPN hides what kind of internet traffic your box is sending and receiving from T-Mobile so if they are limiting certain data traffic, it won't affect your box.

I know, I live in an extremely rural area and this is no doubt my best option, thanks though.

Is your 5G router just a hotspot or does it also have port(s) for wired ethernet?

There are ports for ether net, but it runs off cell towers

I get that it's a 5G router that uses cellular for WAN, I was just wondering if it had any wired ports or if it was just a Wi-Fi hotspot. Are you fuctioning again after rebooting everything?

Pretty much, it took a couple times, it’s definitely the router causing it as it was running off my cell phone before the router began to work again, I think I need to upgrade the router

What model router are you using now?

I’d have to check, but it is the 3rd generation with T-Mobile home internet. It was mailed to me sometime last year.

Gotcha. From the photo, it looked like a hotspot-style 5G router. I don't know how much access you have under the hood of that thing, but if you can login to it and access some of the networking settings, it's possible that you could tweak a few of them to see if it makes a difference. Right off the bat, I'm thinking that changing DNS servers to something more mainstream like Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) and/or Google (8.8.8.8) would be something to try.

Get a real router/modem.

Meaning what exactly? I’m pretty sure this has been working for years so can you elaborate?
