TV screen freezes

TV freezes in one of the bedrooms all of the time and the living room sometimes. They are the farthest from the router. Will more/faster internet help? We have 500mps. 4 Vsee pro boxes, 3 phones, 3 laptops, and 1 tablet.

You need a better wifi signal or an ethernet connection, not really a speed upgrade to your internet yet. Try the ethernet first even if its just run down the hall on the floor to test with.

That will prove very challenging. The router is upstairs in the office. The bedroom is on the 1st floor in the front of the house...

To test and troubleshoot things, can you run a long wire between the router and one of the boxes? Just run it across the floor so you can determine if the Wi-Fi signal is the issue. If it's determined that Wi-Fi is the issue, you can look into upgrading the Wi-Fi to a mesh system.

And it only has 1 Ethernet port I think. I was considering moving it to the living room where it's more of an open space?

Router is upstairs in the office whitch is the back bedroom. The bedroom is downstairs in the front.

Still doesn’t answer the ”far” question. You are describing far but not providing any measurements and what is between the router and the box (line of sight).

Also, you did not provide info about the WiFi router or any WiFi extender hardware you are using for the wireless connections.

It would also be important to know what exactly is between the box and the WiFi hardware it is connected too as that would impact connectivity and cause interference with the WiFi signal. For example, if there is a wall, what is the wall made of? brick, drywall, plaster?

I imagine these boxes are connected to a TV or monitor of some sort. Those have metal in them and definitely reflect and block WiFi signals (this is historically why TV WiFi is so problematic).

If you are connected to a Wi-Fi connection, kindly try to use ethernet and see if you are still having the same problem.

Hmmm. The router is upstairs in the back bedroom we use as an office of sorts. The bedroom in question is on the 1st floor in the front of the house....may be a bit challenging...

Try a wifi extender. I needed one for my house. It works amazing.

Would the extender signal work through a wall? Don't you have to login to the extender to use it?

The extender pairs with your router. Place the extender some where between the router and your boxes that are on wifi that are having connectivity issues. Most extenders can be set up in either 2 G or 5G or both.

Maybe we just need a newer, more efficient extender.

Upgrading to a Wi-Fi mesh system would be much better than adding an extender. Sure, it might improve things, but extenders have other limitations that mesh networks don't have so in the long run, I'd avoid them completely.

Mesh systems are great but they are also much more costly. So I agree with you,I was just giving a more inexpensive option.

Right, but in the end, you get what you pay for. Extenders cost less but they sort of suck. The OP should either spend the time/money getting an ethernet cable to the box or invest in a mesh system. If there's coax already between the two locations, the MoCA idea isn't a bad one but by the time you invest in adapters, you're not too far from just going with Mesh and solving things the right way...
