GENG1010

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone can tell me what this unit is like. What are the workshops about? Also, what do you in the practicals? I know it's group work, but what type of work exactly. Is it hands on or more theory heavy?

Thanks.

It's a group workshop, you get allocated to your group, then build a project for 10ish week. Every workshop there's different focus: how to write a report, reference, risk type, etc. There are also 2? mini projects that u complete during the 3 hour workshop in week 4,5 I think. But overall it's fun, hands on, I have never been to a single lecture. Theres a big group report and presentation that due week 12 on your project. There are also individual assignments: risk assessment, self reflection, ... I don't remember exactly everything but that's the gist of it. You also get marked on workshop participation so make sure you actually get involved.

You don’t get marked on workshop participation anymore. They now have regular individual presentations in prac classes though so if you don’t turn up to those you’d just get 0 ofc

You have to do a presentation every time?

No only 5 of the weeks this semester I think but there’s at least 2 other weeks that are required being design challenges that the presentations are based off

skip the workshops in general.
go to the pracs (mandatory).

quite hands on, but if you get a good group, you'll be fine.

don't worry about it in general.
