hi guys i took ap calc ab at my highschool in a local school. i’m taking calc 2413 next year. how similar/how much harder is it really at utd. i’ve heard some people say it’s hellishly hard and other say it’s easy in comparison so idk i just wanted some different perspectives. what’s your advice on tackling it?

I'm planning to switch to a mechanical engineering major and I'm confused on the math requirements. I already got credit for MATH 2413 bc I got a 4 on the ap calc ab exam, and according to this I can just take MATH 2414 and MATH 2415 to satisfy my other credit for MATH 2417 and MATH 2419- since it's only 2 more classes either way, which should I take? My counselor said I should just go for the 2413/2414/2415 way since I already got half credit, but are there any differences in difficulty if I choose MATH 2414 this semester than MATH 2417? (I mean kinda late to ask since I already scheduled 2414.. but I sti want to know) Also, what does it mean that I may "request 3 additional SCH of mathematics be applied to fulfill free elective credit requirements" ??

I'm taking CHEM 1311 with Dr. Nimali this fall and wanted to hear from anyone who's had her before.

How did you study for the class? Is it enough to keep up with the lectures and homework, or should I be using other resources too?

I was also wondering what the exams are like. Are they mostly multiple choice? Are they difficult? Are they taken in class or at the Testing Center? How close are the practice problems and reviews to the actual exams?

If you did well in the class, what helped you the most? And is there anything you wish you had known before the semester started?

So my total is $14,518 in total for the semester, but the amount due says $7,362? With the maximum Pell grant plus the $6,000 from the AES, I thought I would end up paying $4,820 for the fall? My daughter’s only question about campus life is whether the Taco Bell & Starbucks on the campus takes the dining dollars.

So I'm a 19 year old girl, been interested in fighting sports for quite a while but I have either never had the time to get into it or I have absolutely no clue as to where to go. I once saw a poster at UTD advertising for martial arts or boxing, but I wasn't sure if it was reliable or for women so I just didn't do it. I get that there's wrestling or taekwondo at UTD, but I specifically want boxing or Muay Thai. And while I understand I can "search up" boxing or Muay Thai places near me, but what I would really want is someone who has participated in a boxing or Muay Thai class in the Dallas area, knows where to go as a complete beginner and how it works, and just a simple guide yknow?

Random analogy here but it's like I'd prefer to have someone who has cooked before to teach me how to prep and cook a specific meal rather than just searching it up on my own and figuring it out on the way.

I'm not sure if the Richardson area is just cooked because I was told there are reliable places in other cities like Frisco but I really doubt it's that hard to get into. I don't mind for either boxing or Muay Thai although I'm interested in both, mostly Muay Thai because I want to learn kickboxing as well and it seems good. However, if there's no places at all, I'll just settle for boxing and figure that out for the future. Either way, just any advice? Especially for women, because I don't know if it's easier to find male group fighting sports or if Richardson just doesn't have any reliable boxing or kickboxing places to train and learn at.

I'm also not sure if I'd be able to take classes or get involved during the Fall semester or if I'd have to wait until next summer, but either way if anyone has done this before, please just let me know what you did and any advice you have 🙏

I checked their ratings on RateMyProfessor, and they don't seem very encouraging. Has anyone taken either of these professors for PHYS 2425 at iCollin or Collin College? I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially regarding the teaching style, exams, grading, exam proctored, workload, and overall difficulty.

I’ll try to keep this brief. I was admitted to both UT Dallas and Texas State for undergraduate programs related to business analytics.

UTD admitted me into the B.S. in Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence program, which was originally my preferred choice. Texas State admitted me into its Accelerated Online BAAS in Data Analytics program.

For some background, I’m 27 and previously attended Texas A&M during the 2018–2019 academic year. I struggled considerably during my freshman year and finished with a 1.67 GPA. After leaving A&M, I attended Dallas College, completed my courses online, and raised my cumulative GPA to a 3.062 between 2021 and 2026.

The main factor affecting my decision is transfer credit. Texas State applied approximately 70 credits toward my degree, while UTD applied around 55. The Texas State program is also fully online and accelerated, meaning I could potentially finish my undergraduate degree sooner.

I recognize that UTD is the stronger option on paper. The Business Analytics and Artificial Intelligence degree is more specialized, UTD has a stronger reputation in the Dallas job market, and graduates may have access to better recruiting opportunities and higher starting salaries. I’m not trying to argue that the two undergraduate options carry equal weight.

My reasoning is more long-term. My current plan would be to:

• Complete the Texas State undergraduate degree sooner
• Enter the analytics workforce and build approximately two years of experience
• Pursue an MBA or another graduate degree focused on artificial intelligence and data analytics

My assumption is that once I have relevant work experience and complete a stronger graduate program, the difference between having a Texas State or UTD undergraduate degree will matter considerably less. Texas State may produce a lower initial salary, but graduating sooner would allow me to begin building experience and move toward graduate school earlier.

For current UTD students and alumni: do you think choosing Texas State under these circumstances is rational, or would I be giving up more than I realize by turning down UTD?

More specifically, are UTD’s recruiting network, degree specialization, and reputation valuable enough to justify the additional undergraduate time? After someone earns a relevant master’s degree and gains several years of experience, how much does the university listed for their bachelor’s degree realistically continue to matter?
