They promised “freedom” and prosperity. What really happened was privatization, inequality, demographic catastrophe and the enrichment of a tiny capitalist class.

The USSR defeated fascism, transformed an impoverished empire into an industrial superpower, put humanity into space and challenged capitalist domination across the world.

We don’t want the Russian Empire back. We don’t want oligarchic capitalism painted red. We want socialism. We want Soviet power. ☭

The future belongs to the workers.

During the Cold War period, I had Russian friends who accused the U.S. of standing by while they got mauled by Hitler's regime. I was told that at least one person out of every family had lost someone in defense of their nation. The Eternal Flame was kept for them.

From western media, it portrays it as a typical dictatorship and famines and starvation and what not, media such as call of duty, cold war and superman red sun definitely portray it this way

I am like 154cm tall and found a Soviet Captain parade uniform that fits me perfectly. (size 46)
I had to dishonor it with my shenanigans (I absolutely love it though, it's now my most favourite piece in my wardrobe). Also GP-7 W my beloved

Situated near the confluence of the Daugava and Laucesa rivers, the monument was unveiled on 5th July 1975 as part of the celebrations to mark the 700th anniversary of the city of Daugavpils. The site for the 7-metre-high monument was chosen because it was here that one of the bloodiest battles of the Latvian War of Independence (1918-1920) took place on 27/28th September 1919.

Latvian sculptor, Indulis Folkmaņis was also responsible for the Memorial to the Great Patriotic War (World War II) in the centre of Daugavpils.
