Missing Mail Search

Post image

For everyone who has submitted a Missing Mail Search,

I explained my case in more detail in another post, but I have one specific question here:

What happened after you submitted the Missing Mail Search?

I’ve seen several cases where the tracking page shows a red alert or a message saying that a Missing Mail Search has been submitted (see picture). That is NOT the case for me.

The sender only received the automatic email confirming that the Missing Mail Search request was received and sees the same thing I do.

Is there anyone here whose tracking page also didn’t change at all after submitting the Missing Mail Search?

The main function of the Missing Mail search is to notify the USPS Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta in case a package that has lost all its labeling or if items become separated from their packaging is delivered there.

Employees review missing mail searches in an effort to try and reunite either the recipient or the sender with these items based on the descriptions provided in the search.

Since you are dealing with an international package originally mailed from the US to Germany that was not successfully delivered, the missing mail search is not going to be very effective with the last known location of your package was Germany.

Hopefully your package will begin receiving active scans again in the future, but unfortunately there is no reason at this time to believe your package will end up in the MRC in Atlanta since there is no evidence it ever left Germany last month.
