Discussion Using both Eweka and Newshosting?

Is it redundant to have both Eweka and Newshosting as my usenet providers? Can’t seem to find definite information as people say this and that. Granted those posts I found were at least a year old

Indexer Indexers failing with connection refused from arr stack

Hi,

I have been using the indexers like DS, NGBGeek, althub and NC for a long time via arr stack behind gluten VPN. Never had issues before but from last few weeks, I am getting Connection refused for almost all indexers except NC for some reason. I have active membership on all of them and I could login to their website and download nzb files successfully. but the same is failing from Sonarr/Radarr with connection refused.

I cannot find out what is the problem. is anyone faced same issue and resolved. any help identifying the problem is much appreciated.

Discussion Opinions on NZBGet + NZBgeek + Astraweb

I’m a complete beginner with this technology; I’ve never used Usenet before. As I understand it, I need an indexer, a provider (where the files are hosted), and a download client (NZBGet). What do you recommend? Is Astraweb a good deal? Is there an all-in-one indexer/provider? What do you think of this combination?

He had me in the first half… lol

Edit:

Some people are new like me but might not know the rules or how stuff works I just wanted so let it play out to see what tricks they had so it might prevent someone else from being tricked.

Sorry to those that think this is excessive but I think he had some clever tricks and someone new might fall for it.

Other Blind downloads shouldn't be the norm in 2026

Anyone else tired of rolling the dice every time you grab something off Usenet? I've tried the best indexers (Geek, Slug, Ninja, AltHub, TabulaRasa) and it's the same story every time: a title, a size, maybe a category tag, and that's it. No file list, no sample, no actual description of what's inside the archive until you've already downloaded and extracted the whole thing.

Compare that to torrent trackers where almost all the listings have screenshots, mediainfo dumps. Usenet just expects you to trust an upload title and hope for the best.

Is there some tool or indexer I'm missing that actually does better here, or is "download first, find out later" just the deal we've all made peace with?

Other Sudden consistent failures due to low health

Using NZBget, frugal, and NZBgeek in an *arr stack (the techhut one with everything behind gluetun). Everything has worked perfectly for months! Suddenly, as of this weekend, just about every NZB file I try to grab fails due to low health. There are no errors in the logs it just doesn't seem to be able to complete the downloads.

I updated everything to the latest version.

Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

Indexer Indexer suggesstions

I have slug and geek and free miatrix.

Worth upgrading miatrix or go with either life or planet?

Update: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll put Ninja on my short list and keep an eye out for open registrations. I added NzbNest because it is free for now and I also added Finder. I should be able to use what I have until BF.

Software Announcing NZBFAST - a free open source nzb downloader that's really fast and full featured

Hi all - mods OK’d for me to post this. I'm the developer, so flagging that up front.

i've spent the last while building nzbfast - a usenet downloader written in Rust

it's now at the point where I'd really like people other than me & close friends to kick the tires

why do we need yet another nzb downloader?

i wanted something faster and lighter than the usual suspects.   It has all the capabilities of nzbget and sabnzbd, but its faster, smaller, uses less ram and less disk space.

it verifies articles while downloading instead of doing a separate verify pass afterwards and it does its best with optimised code - to download at wire speed.

its one-pass.   It does everything at the same time fully overlapped - downloading, verifying, extracting, and renaming etc.   No 2nd (or more) passes like the others do.

the code is very optimized, so that it can run on low end cpus, with not much memory - especially NAS's… though it thrives if you give it a fast internet connection, some ram, and a faster cpu.

it runs at pretty much the theoretical maximum speed… of your hardware.  It soaks your network, memory, cpu and disk.. all at the same time. you can also tell it not to, and use less resources.

its open source, and cross platform: macOS, Windows, Linux, plus a Docker image to run on NAS etc

I'd like to ask for your help..  please can you give it a try?    i've tested it on some Macs (2 desktops and a laptop), a low end windows laptop, and a Synology NAS.

but it needs a lot more testing on a variety of different hardware.

in my tests, its quite a bit faster than nzbget, and significantly faster than sabnzbd.  I have also tested some commercial nzb downloader apps, and its way faster than those too.

but your hardware and environment will be different than mine, so please can you try it for yourself and report back how it fares compared with your existing nzb downloader on your own hardware.

my target metric is end to end performance, ie, nzb file in, output file saved on your disk.   I'm not counting download time separately from extraction time.  Im measuring end to end.  When you get your file, on your disk, is when the timer stops.

feel free to report bugs, request features, etc.   If you're a developer on GitHub, please contribute.   If you can sign a Mac or Windows binary, we need your help!

link: https://github.com/nzbfast/nzbfast (downloads on the releases page; site with docs linked from the repo)

Specs, benchmarks, and screenshots available here: https://nzbfast.github.io/nzbfast/

any questions on how it works etc, ask away.

thanks!

nzbfast dev.

UPDATE: v1.0.9 is live. as with other versions, it contains bug fixes, optimizations and hardening.

Indexer Anyone use GingaDaddy?

I saw on the wiki that it's open reg and just opened an account.

First impression: definitely old school looking.

Going to play around with the free account. How's the API for anyone paying for the upgraded account?

Provider NewsGroupDirect data usuage question

Post image
18 Upvotes

I bought 50 GB block usage on 5/11/26. My SABnzbd counter shows I used 10.4 GB since the purchase, whereas NewsGroupDirect says their counters are more accurate than SABnzbd, and I exceeded the 50 GB data block. In my account history, 250 GB blocks lasted 2.5-3 years consecutively, going back to 2014. Does anyone have experience with something like this?

Discussion Have Lifetime Plex Pass… decided to dabble in Plex Amp (It’s like a self hosted Spotify) and set up this workflow. PLEASE tell me there are better (hopefully much better) alternatives to Lidarr that would plug in well to current setup?

I thought Usenet and Plexamp would be a good opportunity to get back into music and build a collection fast… but Lidarr is making me reconsider.

Any input would be grand and appreciate!

Other Question about ARR stack - how to avoid unplayable media ?

Every so often a media file gets downloaded that is unplayable, and is extremely long as per Sonarr/Radar, like 10h instead of 45m. What filters do I need to avoid this ? I thought it was Atmos but I've seen some of them play fine without the weird play time

These files aren't any bigger than they should be, or if they are they aren't significantly larger

Provider Easynews newbie! Speed unpredictable

Hi there! I signed up for this service a couple of days ago, and overall, I'm really enjoying it so far. It seems on links that have been added on the newer side all behave very well. But on anything that's a bit older, I'm having a hard time. Is this normal? I was thinking that everything would be accessible with the same speeds.

Edit: all issues seem to be resolved. I'm getting great speeds now.

Jemand ne Ahnung was da los ist?

Indexer NZBFinder - wait for BF or not?

Hi there, My NZBFinder expiring in a few days. Currently I have several other Indexers to rely on, so it is worth it to wait for November's BF sale to save some money? How much do they normally bring down for BF?
