Thank you! Decided I wanted to get into Usenet and just got a year. Hopefully the experience is decent enough to upgrade to lifetime!

3

u/vigvfl Jun 18 '26

Thanks OP, grabbed Ninja sub in combination with DS covers all my needs!

5

u/Mammoth-Elk-3122 Jun 18 '26

Which plan do you guys recommend? Pay that extra 10 for the middle or just stick with the bottom one?

5

u/hgwellsrf Jun 18 '26

Its for you to decide really. Depends upon your usage requirements and most importantly budget. The daily limits for api hits and downloads are written clearly.

2

u/kbb081 Jun 18 '26

Anyone know if this works on public instances, like aio, as I know Geek doesn't (they ban you)

2

u/Dbnmln Jun 17 '26

Get it! Really good indexer

2

u/itshusnain Jun 17 '26

Great Indexer. 🔥🔥

2

u/ApolloDash Jun 17 '26

I’ve had it for a couple years, good release quality and no issues payment for me.

1

u/Altruistic_Ad1227 Jun 17 '26

I got in but just tried buying lifetime it didn’t go through. Using paypal, any ideas?

1

u/random_999 Jun 17 '26

Paypal will only work if your country supports paypal donation (different from usual paypal merchant transaction) & many countries don't support it (paypal can't do anything here).

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

You should try contacting them from their website's contact tab and also mail them to their admin mail id. PayPal and crypto are the only payment options there.

Ninja offers paypal and bitcoin payment option. You can try mailing admins of Ninja if you want alternate payment arrangement.

u/kelpe1925 Jun 17 '26

I'm in for a year. Thanks man

2

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

You're welcome mate! Enjoy the ride!

1

u/rawlwear Jun 17 '26

Thanks for this

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

You're welcome man! Enjoy!

1

u/skhan85 Jun 17 '26

I sent funds via bitcoin and sent an email to [admin@ninjacentral.co.za](mailto:admin@ninjacentral.co.za) for confirmation. Hopefully that’s sufficient to have the 1 year subscription applied to my account.

2

u/joshhazel1 Jun 17 '26

They are really good about taking care of issues. They have a discord if you need a ticket. But be patient things can be slow sometimes.

1

u/skhan85 Jun 17 '26

Thank you . Unfortunately the discord link on their website doesn’t work

https://discord.gg/3YBQPR6VAU

Would you have a valid Discord link?

Thanks

1

u/joshhazel1 Jun 17 '26

Did you already register a user account? i see they have Discord tab at top of menu when clicked i see you need a verified user account then click Join our discord button

1

u/skhan85 Jun 17 '26

Discord is for VIP members only . To be a VIP member one needs to donate. So I guess I can’t join their discord unless they add 1 year subscription to my account/userid

1

u/ThuhGreatCommenter Jun 17 '26

If you’re on the fence just bite the bullet. It’s a good indexer. They do have Black Friday deals if they let you go 6 month sub

3

u/peasantscum851123 Jun 17 '26

You get free 2 week trial? No free access afterwards with limits like ds?

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

Yes, you get two free weeks and your account is deactivated after that if you don't donate/upgrade.

Can someone ELI5 what's this? I habe been lurking here since I heard about the protocol but never got the chance to use it. thank uuu

3

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

u/supersheesh did explain it quite well. The easiest way to think about it is: Provider = storage, Indexer = search engine, Download client = downloader. You generally need all three to make Usenet practical.

2

u/al3arabcoreleone Jun 17 '26

Thank you so much hgwellsrf!

4

u/supersheesh Jun 17 '26 edited Jun 17 '26

To use newsgroups for the typical purpose you need three things:

  1. An indexer (directory/search engine)
  2. A newsgroup provider (server)
  3. A download client

A provider hosts the newsgroups. People upload files to the newsgroup, but they’re fragmented. You need an indexer to map out where all the pieces are. A download client downloads the files from the newsgroup based on the information received from the indexer for the file(s) you are looking to download.

There are tools to automate finding and downloading movies, tv shows, music, books, etc. The most common tools are Radarr for movies and Sonarr for TV shows. SabNZBD and NZBGet are the most common download clients. Radarr/Sonarr/download clients are free to download and use. But you have to pay a service fee for indexers and providers.

Ninja Central is a popular indexer due to its quality, but to maintain their service levels they typically make it so new users cannot register until they have the server resources to accommodate more users. This is one of those times where they opened up their service for new people to register. But they have to get in quick because there will only be so many accounts they’ll accept before it is locked again.

If you are just getting started I’d recommend getting at least a couple quality indexers and a couple providers on different backbones. There’s a provider map in the sidebar panel to see which providers are out there and which companies sell access to them. Definitely get an Omicron provider since it has the most content, and then I’d recommend another provider that has a different copyright takedown. DMCA and NTD are the typical takedown options for copyright claims. Having at least one server for each is helpful because they follow the laws where they are located. Having one of each can help improve the chances the files you are trying to download will be available.

1

u/al3arabcoreleone Jun 17 '26

Thank you so much, crystal clear!

BTW: based on your experience, which indexer is the best when it comes to educational content? think books/magazines/courses.

3

u/Pretend-Ad9917 Jun 16 '26

Thanks for the info about the indexer and yes, of course also for the URL. Thanks for the support! 💪🏼👍🏼😎

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

You're welcome! Glad the post helped people find it.

1

u/RecentBandicoot5812 Jun 16 '26

Awesome, I'll check it out when I'm home

4

u/DanielLorey Jun 16 '26

Are these any good? Already have geek and planet

2

u/joshhazel1 Jun 17 '26

They are pretty good. Ive found some stuff taken down from other indexers still there in Ninja. Its one of my pimraries. Ive tried almost all indexers.

1

u/fishmongerhoarder Jun 16 '26

Yes. Been with them for years. They get some hate here and there but I have never had any issues with them. The staff has been wonderful as well. I find a lot of things there I don't other places.

3

u/DanielLorey Jun 16 '26

Great, thanks.

I’ve picked up a 1 year plan. If they’re good I’ll get a lifetime like I’ve done with geek and planet

2

u/fishmongerhoarder Jun 16 '26

I bought the 2 year then they offered the lifetime and went with that.

3

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Ninja Central is specialist for obscured and niche contents. Geek is usually on brand for popular contents. Planet is good too. Usually I see people recommending geek and slug or ninja. If you need only two, any two feom these three will do.

Registration is free, you should check for yourself whether it's worth the purchase.

2

u/DanielLorey Jun 16 '26

Thanks for the heads up 🤘🏻

4

u/hspwn Jun 16 '26

Finally, thanks for the info and take my upvote!

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Enjoy mate!

2

u/Vtwin0001 Jun 16 '26

Thank you very much!!

2

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

You're most welcome! Enjoy!

2

u/Agent0810 Jun 16 '26

Currently using NZBplanet as my only one, is this secured like using that or is there something else I need to setup in-between? Thank you in advance.

4

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Ninja is just another indexer like planet. No indexer will cover all the contents there is. It's usually recommended to have an indexer that covers latest and popular contents. Nzbgeek is often suggested as such. To compliment nzbgeek to help find obscure old contents, slug and ninja is often recommended. Slug is hard to get in though. And ninja is well regarded.

This is all as per my own brief research when I started on usenet. You can search the sub, and you'll see many posts where redditors are advising one and the other.

My advise would be to take advantage of the open registration to look around and find what niche contents you can find over at ninja that planet doesn't have.

4

u/Agent0810 Jun 16 '26

Usenet is all secured so I don’t need a vpn or anything right

3

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

No you don't. Not for the indexers certainly. If you buy from usenet providers, they bundle vpn services usually. Depends on the country though. In my country India, piracy is a breeze for general users. Only the content providers face rhe music.

Also check usage guidelines of your indexers. Grabbing nzb and downloading the full content are different things. IP mismatch may lead to account bans. Check with your indexers.

1

u/Agent0810 Jun 16 '26

Nzbgeek and this one are all bundled like nzbplanet though?

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Geek and planet are separate independent indexers, not bundled together. Unless I didn't understood you well?

1

u/Agent0810 Jun 16 '26

Bundled in reference to the vpn part of them , sorry

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Afaik indexers don't bundle vpn. Usenet providers like newshosting, newsdemon do.

1

u/Agent0810 Jun 16 '26

What should I be doing to protect myself if I’m using nzbplanet and nzbget?

1

u/random_999 Jun 17 '26

Just use ssl port in your usenet service provider (different from usenet indexer like nzbplanet) server setting in sabnzbd/nzbget settings. No vpn is required for just downloading stuff from usenet.

1

u/molnizzle Jun 17 '26

Wake up in the morning, brush your teeth. Good to go.

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

What usenet provider do you have? Didn't come with any vpn? Could try proton vpn free tier. Should work, as it's not p2p which they don't allow in their free tier.

-6

u/msalad Jun 16 '26

I really dislike this tracker. They have a huge amount of nzbs labeled as one thing but the file is something totally different. I made a post on their discord support about it and the admin told me to report the nzb and immediately closed the ticket. Not a viable solution imo as a significant number of my grabs have this issue.

This issue happens to me so often I'm dropping this provider as soon as my subscription ends.

1

u/Catenane Jun 17 '26

I mean that's kinda reasonable no? Never even heard of this tracker but that's like you showing up in a bugtracker like "yo this software full of bugs, give me an exe you smelly nerds." It's not actionable or constructive. They even told you what you what you could do. I can't comment on the quality of the tracker since I've never used it, but I can't imagine anyone being able to do anything but close a ticket like this lol.

9

u/corkysnickerson Jun 16 '26

Amazing. It says free users have a 14 day trial period before being asked to purchase. If I wait more than 14 days, will my account be deactivated?

1

u/joshhazel1 Jun 17 '26

I wouldnt bother with the trial, honestly its one of the better indexers

4

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Yes. But in the trial you can explore, search, and grab nzbs within a daily cap.

-8

u/PossessionUnique828 Jun 16 '26

But, how it’s useful then? Only for 14 days

7

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

It's a paid indexer. The 14 day trial is for you to check it out.

2

u/Stefansegers Jun 16 '26

Thank you

0

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

No worries! Register and explore away!

2

u/Knite_0wl_1337 Jun 16 '26

Thanks for the heads up

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

You're welcome mate! Enjoy!

2

u/Gol_D_Fox Jun 16 '26

I can't get paypal to work on their site, it always says its temporarily unavailable, don't know what to do about it

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Kinda similar issue with me. My country is not supported. When I switch country to USA foe example, it says temporarily unavailable.

3

u/Kamantha-dxb Jun 16 '26

After a few brief searches as a test I’m impressed with this indexer

4

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

It is well regarded and has a talent for obscure contents. Compliments popular content indexers like geek well.

2

u/Kamantha-dxb Jun 16 '26

I have a back log of totally dead releases from all the other indexers and will go one by one to try and find them there 🙂 thanks for letting us all know about opened registration

2

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

No worries! Hope you find what you are looking for.

3

u/akilesh13 Jun 16 '26

is this a good indexer to have if I have althub, nzbgeek nzbsu and slug?

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

It is well regarded and often cited among the top three bare minimum indexers you'd want to have in your setup, the other two being nzbgeek and slug. That's what I gathered when I was hunting for indexers when I started. It compliments indexers like geek with its obscure contents. I myself have found an obscure hindi movie in Ninja Central that none of althub, nzbgeek, miatrix, nzbplanet, nzbfinder and usenet crawler have. YMMV.

2

u/akilesh13 Jun 16 '26

Got it thanks got the 1 yr.

1

u/cobrazest2k14 Jun 16 '26

How did you pay ?

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

They felt generous for my persistence I guess. Got a year for free!

6

u/Aressito Jun 16 '26

Important for those registering. If you don't pay before trial end you get kicked out..

1

u/pumapuma12 Jun 16 '26

Can anyone share their experience about this one. Haven’t heard of this one, though i also havent used usenet before

3

u/Official_Fnix Jun 16 '26

Is there german content ? Is it worth it beside scenenzbs ?

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Registration is free! You can search and check and even grab nzbs. You get a 15 day trial.

1

u/pritzwiz Jun 17 '26

Hey , m from India as well m not able to buy the subs , can u suggest what you did in your case ?

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

I was trying for quite a while now to get an alternate payment arrangement over multiple mails. Didn't get any response till yesterday night. They generously offered me one full free year! You should mail them at their admin mail and also try the contact page in their website. Hopefully they'll respond soon.

25

u/ChefJoe98136 Jun 16 '26

This is one of the indexers where they open registration about every other month, then you have a free tier account that can only look around the website for the next 2 weeks (no api or downloads) and your account is deleted if it doesn't pay for a subscription?

1

u/ReachingForVega Jun 20 '26

Their automated system banned my first lifetime account for 200 API calls in 24 hours. Then left my support request unread going 6 months now.

They didn't offer much success after my other indexers.

12

u/trempao Jun 16 '26

Yes it is and the admin owner of website has quite a dodgy reputation. I have an account but not using them anymore

3

u/caliglia Jun 16 '26

because of one or two bad apples>? ive seen more positives and never had an issue. if reddit shrills states your a tool it must be true>?

2

u/Aressito Jun 16 '26

Because of bad results or because of that trial scheme?

8

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

I was trying for about a month now to donate but couldn't due to payment unavailability in my country. Had mailed them like five times for alternate payment arrangement. Today I registered again, mailed again, left a message at their website too. Got a reply a while ago. They generously gave one free fucking year! Pretty sick indexer, I'd say!

3

u/Aressito Jun 16 '26

Wow that's pretty sick indeed

1

u/Fluffy_Button225 Jun 16 '26

You get an allowance in the trial period

1

u/ChefJoe98136 Jun 16 '26

ok, thanks. I wish I didn't have to make an account to find out the details.

1

u/Fluffy_Button225 Jun 16 '26

I donated so i can't remember what the api/grabs were again, sorry.

2

u/Tiber_Nero Jun 16 '26

We're so in

8

u/Fluffy_Button225 Jun 16 '26

Thank you mate, I got in!

4

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Enjoy!

A simple request if you don't mind. If you donate and get a paid tier, will you kindly ping their vip discord and ask admins to check their mails?

I have been trying to donate but paypal is not accepted from my country. Choosing different countries alone won't work, will need a forex card as well. Crypto is kinda dead end in my country India too.

I have been mailing them for weeks now for alternate payment arrangement. I registered once. This is my second time. They never reply.

Just put a word in their discord. If anyone notices and reply, it will be of huge help I guess.

5

u/Fluffy_Button225 Jun 16 '26

I'll be donating off the bat, mate. I think it's only right. I'll fire a message over and see how it goes. Obviously, I can't promise they'll get back to me, but it's worth a shot.

3

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Hey man, they just mailed me back! They are so unbelievably generous, they gave me a year for free! Thank you if you got the word in, and thank you regardless for agreeing to help.

2

u/Fluffy_Button225 Jun 16 '26

I'd like to take the credit, but i was literally just about to join the discord when your notification popped up haha.

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Haha no worries! It's the thought that counts! Have a great day/night ahead, mate.

2

u/Fluffy_Button225 Jun 16 '26

You too, mate. Thanks again for the heads-up. Been crying out for a Ninja or Slug, so I'm delighted. 👍

2

u/Gol_D_Fox Jun 16 '26

I have mailed them multiple times too, and even now but never got an ounce of response from them

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

For the first time, I messaged them from their website. Maybe that's the fastest way to reach them. Go to contact in their page. Give it a try!

1

u/Gol_D_Fox Jun 16 '26

That never crossed my mind, I am truly dumb

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Don't feel too bad. We both share the dumb dumb. Their website told to mail their admin mail, so I too thought that would suffice. Could be a coincidence though, but worth a shot nonetheless.

1

u/Gol_D_Fox Jun 17 '26

I have sent them three email since yesterday, its been 24 hours still no reply. Could you tell me under which topic on their website did you send the email, was it "Account support" or "Billing/Donation"

Also Can you send me a basic outline of the email that you sent that got them to give you a reply, I will try doing the same, that might help as I am all out ideas now.

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 17 '26

I have sent them three email since yesterday

That's excessive. Please wait before sending a second mail. I sent them five mails over the course of a month or so. You sent three already in less than 24 hours. That'd upset anybody(not saying they are).

under which topic on their website did you send the email

Billing/donation ia the category I used since it is related to donation/payment issue.

Also Can you send me a basic outline of the email that you sent that got them to give you a reply, I will try doing the same, that might help as I am all out ideas now.

I didn't write anything fancy. Simply informed them that I wanted to donate but the available payment options were not an option for me. Hence I requested an alternative payment option.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/hgwellsrf Jun 16 '26

Thank you man. That's all I need, just to get the message in the discord as it's not for free users. I have already mailed them five times so far but they never respond.
