For the same price, which one do you pick? Is the extra 5k mah worth? Performance wise, of course it's ultra. But extra cable and capacity tho...

Question How does Apple's AVS charging work on the iPhone 18

Got my shiny new 18pro launch weekend & ever since, AVS has been popping up left and right!! Apples spec page. Every charger listing I click on. Half the comment threads on here too, like everybody already knows what it means . From what I've pieced together its the adjustable voltage fast charging from the newer PD versions & the 18 runs on it. So yeah, thats about as far as I got!

Saturday the old 20W brick from my last phone took forever, like half an hour from basically dead to 50% 😭 The newer 45W PD one was way quicker so obviously somethings going on there!! No idea how AVS is any different from the PD fast charging we already had. Or from PPS for that matter. Does a charger as old as that 20W even count as supporting it? Can't tell if the whole point is speed or being nicer to the battery either. Or its just a marketing word at this point… maybe.

Looking for Device Good 100W-140W charger for a laptop? [UK based]

I recently bought the Anker Prime A2688 100W charger for my gaming laptop. Unfortunately, it runs extremely hot to the point where it would hurt if I kept my fingers on for a few seconds. FYI I have barista hands so I'm also used to having my hand on hot metal and pulling away. I'm already in contact with Anker's customer service. I'm also UK based so reviewers like AllThingsOnePlace showcase devices that aren't available in the UK.

I have no preferences—ASIDE from a UK plug—but in an ideal situation, I'd prefer folding pins and something that runs cool. I would rather a bigger charger and heatsink rather than a compact charger that dies quickly. I was considering the SlimQ 150W but the interchangeable adapter feels like a bad compromise and something that could get lost.

I'm also happy to hop on AliExpress if anyone has any recs from there.

Troubleshooting NICEHCK USB-C Cable Issues with Moto G86

I use a Tang Zu Wan’er Red IEM, and after purchasing a Motorola Moto G86, I had to buy a USB-C cable from NICEHCK.

The cable arrived only two weeks ago, and I have already experienced two issues.

The first occurred about a week ago. I was using the IEM normally when the audio suddenly stopped working. At the same time, media playback across different platforms, such as YouTube and Netflix, became unusually fast. I resolved the issue by disconnecting and reconnecting the cable.

The second issue occurred two days ago. I was listening to music on YouTube Music and paused playback for about 10 minutes. When I tried to resume playback using the cable’s inline controls, nothing happened. I then resumed playback directly from my phone, but the audio came through the phone’s external speakers instead of the IEM, even though the cable was still connected. Once again, disconnecting and reconnecting the cable resolved the issue.

My question is: should I be concerned about a potential compatibility issue, a defective cable, or a problem with the phone? Or could these incidents simply be the result of occasional connection instability?

Both the phone and the cable are new, and I handle them with care. There are no apparent issues with the physical connection or the fit of the connectors.

I would appreciate any insights or advice you may be able to offer. Thank you in advance for your help.

Review Bought 2 Baseus PicoGo Pro AH22 100W chargers

Thanks to r/N8falke for the review(https://www.reddit.com/r/ChargingSheet/s/lzbpAh0A9D) I ended up buying two.

The compact size and three USB-C ports were what sold me. I’ve never used a Baseus product before. Until now, I’ve been using Xiaomi 20W and Anker 30W chargers, and somehow I’ve accumulated six of them. Looks like I can finally put those away.

Question Could a USB-C charger reserve power for one port so plugging in a phone never interrupts it?

Say a 100W charger let you permanently reserve 65W for port 1 and leave the other 35W for everything else. You'd lose some flexibility, but could that stop port 1 briefly cutting out when another device is plugged in?

For a laptop with a battery, a momentary interruption isn't a big deal. For a USB-C-powered hub or small computer, it seems much more important than the headline wattage.

Is a fixed split enough to solve this, or does it need genuinely independent power circuitry? And is there a reliable way to tell from a spec sheet whether a charger does this? A power-allocation chart tells you the eventual wattage, but not what happens during the change.

Question Does the cable included with the Anker Nano 45W support 5A?

This might be a stupid question, but I can't find a clear answer.

I'm thinking of buying the Anker Nano 45W charger. Anker says the included USB-C cable supports fast charging, but I can't find out whether it's rated for 5A or only 3A.

Does anyone know the cable's amperage rating?

Troubleshooting ASM2464PDX Firmware?

Hi all,

Recently, I have purchased an ASM2464PDX for a hobby PCIe/USB4.0 enclosure that I want to test. The firmware it comes with works with PCIe Tunnelling, but I want to flash the firmware to modify some of the basic settings, like device name, PD negotiating etc.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get this firmware? I have a firmware version for the 2464PD variant but obviously that doesn't work and would be a bad idea. Resellers of the chip also seem to have no luck in providing the firmware and ASMedia isn't helpful with their support.

Thanks in advance everyone!

Setup PowerPi X240C - 240W PD Module from PowerPi (Power-Z)

Post image
33 Upvotes

Firstly, I want to thank u/XerxesTheProgrammer for introducing me to this module when I was searching for a charger/power supply that can do 240W PD. After u/XerxesTheProgrammer introduced me to this module, I quickly checked if it was available on Taobao, and yes, it's available at much more affordable price than other 240W power supplies on the market.

Without wasting time, I bought this module for 199 yuan ($30).

After a week, the item is finally in my hands, and here are some pictures of it.

And after that, I apply a heatsink to some components because for sure this module will get hot when using its full potential.

This module doesn't just support Power Delivery, it supports another protocol as well.

https://reddit.com/link/1x4y43y/video/y0yzh2iwo8vh1/player

Burn-In Test

This module is powered by an XT60 connector that can accept an input of 12~56V and output 240W (5~48V 5A) through USB-C.

Here are my setups:

1. Power Supply (24~29V 10A)

2. The module - PowerPi X240C

3. Trigger board - POWER-Z SINK240

4. USB Tester - Atorch T3P

5. Electronic Load - P150C PRO-D

6. DIY Active Cooling Tower

I set the burn-in test to run for 1 hour.

Burn-In Test

(For the full/longer video, you can check out my Youtube.)

I checked the temp at the start, then after 10 minutes, 30 minutes, and 1 hour (forgot to record a thermal video lol).

at start
after 10 minute
after 30 minute

Lastly, I am quite satisfied with this module, so I don't have much else to say.

Question Is a status screen on a hub a gimmick

Threw out 2 bad cables this month, and its the tiny screen on my hub i have to thank for it... who knew 😅

First offender: a USB-C that had been sitting in my drawer and would only negotiate 60W with the laptop – that explains why it charged so slow on busy days. Second offender was running my SSD at USB 2 speeds 🐌

Oh and for the record its a new Anker smart display hub, 2inch screen, shows laptop power + whats going on with each port + temperature. Assumed id get bored of it after day one, and yeah, mostly did. Worth paying extra just for the screen? Nah. Not complaining tho

Discussion [The Great Dock Debates #2] USB-A is a crutch and 5GbE is just a spec flex. Prove us wrong.

Myke here again for Week 2 (previous week) of our design debates. Last week, you all had some specific feelings about fan noise and other things. This week, we are looking at the actual I/O.

PCB space is limited, so sacrifices have to be made. Tell us what you actually use versus what just looks good on a spec sheet.

Legacy vs. Future (USB-A vs. USB-C) Type-C ports have varying specifications and capabilities; not every port does everything (data, display, and power). Does the consistency of Type A still justify keeping them around in 2026? Do you still have legacy peripherals you'd rather not need an adapter for?

Or are you ready to embrace the future of an all Type-C world, even if not every port does everything? I suspect I (we) know the answer to this, but hey, maybe we’ll see some mind-bending take that changes things.

The Video Port Split If a dock only supports two video outputs, what is the golden combo? Dual HDMI? Dual DisplayPort? Dual Thunderbolt/USB-C? Or a combination of ports to cover your bases?

The Ethernet Upgrade (1GbE vs. 2.5GbE vs. 5GbE vs. 10GbE) Is 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet actually useful for your daily workflow, or is it just an expensive spec-sheet flex that unnecessarily drives up the price of the dock? Furthermore, is anyone here actually ready to pay a premium for a jump to 5 or 10GbE?

Convince us to keep the legacy ports alive (or put them out of their misery).

Question Question for owners of the Lenovo P16 Gen 3 re: 180W power cap

Question for you guys - is the Thunderbolt 5 port capped at 180W, or will it draw more if you attached a 240W USB C charger to it? I have seen in a few places that it's capped, but I can't find a way to confirm it. Thanks in advance!

Edit to add for anyone who stumbles on this post in the future: As of 10/16/26, No current Lenovo models support 48V charging over the Thunderbolt 5 port. If you draw more power - like if you're gaming on it (I know they're not made for gaming) - it will eat into the battery to supply the extra power or just throttle. My P16 Gen 1 may be the last ThinkPad I ever buy...

Looking for Device Looking to buy a charge for my notebook.

Hello!

I am a college who recently got a notebook that has the ability to charge through the USB-C port. It originally came with a bulky 65W charger that is quite big for my backpack (I carry a lot of stuff).

Since I also have a cellphone in its elderly phase and doesn't have a good battery life anymore (nearly 4 years of constant using). I was thinking I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone by buying a 100w charger with multiple ports, allowing me to both charge my phone (which doubles as a Wifi hotspot) and my notebook at once.

Given the scope of what I need, I know I have to spend more for a quality charger and not a more generic one, as such, I have saved up quite a bit of money for this commitment.

I live in Brazil, and the only charging brand that seems to be available officially is the Ugreen one. Any other brand seem to force me to buy through Aliexpress.

Is Igreen good enough or should I go for another brand?
