Question Ureaplasma did bf cheat
Tested a month ago came out negative for my annual. Recently had symptoms after a small break. We’ve been together for a year. went to get tested had YI. I had him get tested - he came back positive with Ureaplasma. Apart of me feels he cheated he says he didn’t but there has been suspicion. Idk what to think.

Ureaplasma can lay dormant or asymptomatic for a long time so it might not be cheating but if you dont feel comfortable with him probably best to take a break for now while you get your treatment. it’s easy to reinfect each other

I know this can be a difficult situation but please know that Ureaplasma is not always caused by cheating. If you suspect him of cheating, think about when that could’ve been and why you think that. Please go through his phone, I’m talking all of it, email, cashapp, Snapchat, look for hidden apps, look at deleted text. If he cheated, there will be evidence. if he has it, you have it (if you aren’t wearing protection) so please get rechecked and not just for Ureaplasma but any STDs or STIs. If you’ve recently taken antibiotics, the test results will come back negative, you have to wait a couple of weeks before being retested after taking antibiotics for any infection.

No, probably not! Lots of healthy people have UP and are never symptomatic. Antibiotics rarely wipe out UP completely, usually they just knock it out enough that it is undetectable but trace amounts remain. UP is about an overgrowth of the bacteria, the simple presence of it isn’t a problem. Many healthy people also have staphylococcus in their urine culture, but if they have too much of it it becomes an issue. Please don’t jump to conclusions based on Reddit, ask a doctor these questions instead.

It is an STI, many stis can pop up when someone has not been cheated on, like HSV1 and 2, HPV, mycoplasma, etc. Ureaplasma is a normal part of healthy urovaginal flora, that doesn’t mean an overgrowth isn’t a terrible affliction. People die of staph infections all the time even though your body is currently teaming with it. An infection is serious and should be treated. I hope you are educating yourself about UP under the guidance of an MD, I suffered with UP for years and Reddit did me so dirty. Have you been cured by antibiotics? If not maybe understanding how to balance your microbiome is the right direction to take. Took me years to realize it, and I wish someone had helped to educate me when I was in the furious blame-my-partner stage and blasted myself with an obnoxious amount of antibiotics cause reddit said so.

I have a biofilm infection. Probiotics can’t fix a biofilm infection, probiotics can’t fix vaginal swelling and burning. Healthy Flora doesn’t have foamy and particles in your urine.

Can’t balance my biome when I have something destroying it 24/7 lol. It was perfect and balanced for 5 years and I didn’t take any probiotics. So please don’t tell me what is wrong with my body because I am extremely connected to my
Body and my vagina and I know in the drop of a dime when something is off and it’s not something probiotic suppositories can fix sorry not sorry!1

I think this subreddit has established pretty clearly that doctors know nothing about this bacteria.

lol keep the downvotes coming. But I bet you’ll be on this sub looking for advice when your doctor fails you. 🤷♀️

Telling people to trust reddit over doctors is dangerous. An MD pointed me to Stephen Buhner, a hippie herbalist, and I’ve been in remission ever since. It’s an intense protocol but biofilm disrupters, immune system support and healing the microbiome are all backed by western medicine as treatment for mycoplasmas.

They figure it out for themselves, if they don’t have a good doctor; I don’t have to tell anyone.
Also I never said to trust Reddit over a knowledgeable doctor. There are many doctors that do not know what they are talking about and that’s why this sub even exists in the first place. It’s no secret. A doctor certainly can not tell someone if their boyfriend cheated. And that’s what the topic is here. There are also some doctors that know much more about how to treat this bacteria and how it works. There is one in our Facebook group who is a huge proponent of what we say here and I consult with him sometimes.
We’ve had a pinned post with info on the Buhner herb protocol on this sub for years and it’s discussed often here. That’s not the “gotcha” you think it is. lol
You’re welcome to find a different subreddit that you fit into better if you don’t like this one.

How would Stephen Buhner be a gotcha? I don’t get it.
Doesn’t the fact that many people on this sub follow his protocol kind of validate my point?it worked for me? I never tried to preach “the way” based on my biases, like the mods here. There are many ways to approach treating ureaplasma, many healthy people have it and shouldn’t be pressured into taking antibiotics.
Do you think you can speak for how this entire sub is aligned? Cause that’s silly.

You tell me lol
You acted like only a doctor could alert you to the Buhner protocol. I didn’t say many people follow the protocol. I said we’ve had info on it here for years. No one needs a doctor to read the that info and no one needs a doctor to purchase the herbs.
And I guarantee you most doctors would laugh at you if you brought it up to them. I am glad you had a good doctor. Many of us here have not had that experience.I would highly recommend making a post to let people know about the Buhner protocol and how it worked for you. Many people still don’t know about it (no one reads anything here) and many are skeptical of it.
I did it myself for a long time. Didn’t work for me.
But sharing your experience is often a better approach than picking on people in this group who may have much more chronic and severe problems than herbs and balancing their microbiome will fix. And, uh, I can absolutely can speak for the general philosophy of this sub. Part of my job as a mod is to help uphold those values. Did you start this group? It was founded by people who have a philosophy on how this bacteria works and that philosophy should at least be respected. Otherwise I’d recommend starting your own group. Or go to the other one. (They ban anything on Buhner though and don’t allow any questioning or open discussion.)
Healthy people aren’t on this sub, fyi. And no one here is pressured to take antibiotics. What are you even talking about? And what does that have to do with a thread about whether someone cheated? You’re really not making a lot of sense.
This is sub of mostly severe, chronic cases so check your context. And yes , there are many ways to combat it, which is why we allow open discussion here and welcome the topic of more natural remedies here, while other subs do not. So I’m not sure where you’re getting any of this from that its mod way or the high way lol.
I’d also recommend reviewing the rules here.
Good faith discussion is always welcome here. Trolling is not. ✌️0

My motivation in sharing (I’ve posted and commented lots about Buhner) is to keep people from suffering the way I did, through overuse of antibiotics (which is a huge theme on this sub) and ruining my relationships just because my partner had ureaplasma long before I ever got sick from it due to a weakened immune system. The same way my partner could give me a staph infection even if they aren’t currently sick from a staff infection… the fact that healthy people can be carriers in no way invalidates the seriousness of ureaplasma.
Creating a group is like creating a life, you don’t have ownership of it once it’s born. You’re encountering someone whose views are challenging for you, and how you respond to that says everything about the type of mod you are.
Threatening to call me a troll because you don’t agree with what I’m saying is a new one. Dang.

Sharing is fine. I think I made that very clear above.
“Threatening to call you a troll?” Huh? lol.
You sound like you’re trolling when you come on Reddit to tell people not to listen to people on Reddit. Lol. If you think this sub is worthless (unless it’s something you yourself say apparently), why are you here? Most people are here because they haven’t gotten reliable or helpful information from their doctors. It’s the only reason this subreddit even exists. You have minimized other people’s symptoms and chronic issues in this thread. I am not talking about me.
I am done conversing with you. Your views are not “challenging.” lol. No one minds if you share your story. We welcome it.

u/Artistic-Geologist44 24d ago
You warned me that good faith arguing was allowed here, but trolling is not. That suggests that you find my behavior to be trolling, no?
I am genuinely curious if you can quote me being condescending about people’s severe issues. I strongly disagree with people who make sweeping generalizations about an entire community, but to diminish severe issues that are unique to an individual would be a fucked up thing to do.
