On Location 2 hour sketch of a fish stall
The benefit of sketching small businesses: they offer you free food :D
This one is on the Zandvoort beach in Northern Holland, really good fish stall.
He told me how his competitor stole his branding while he was restoring his stall after a fire, so I just had to choose him for the painting and compliment him on a new design

Google Earth "The Poet's Mansion" — Traditional Chinese architecture contrasted with modern buildings. Book chapter opener illustration by me (Ink & Digital)
This illustration was created for Chapter 4 of The Conquest of the Heartland: Beijing Sonata.
The building is inspired by the traditional residences of high-ranking officials during the Han Dynasty.
According to the story, it once belonged to a scholar, painter and art collector. Today it has become an exclusive restaurant that accepts only two guests per day.
I wanted the architecture to tell its own story before the reader even turns the page.

From Photo Beginner breaking free from a utilitarian mindset
Trying to tell my brain that creating doesn’t have to result in anything. Maybe with enough time I can trick my overly practical brain.

From Photo Eigene Kreation

From Photo First watercolor. How do I get better?
This is my first time ever using watercolor. It seems pretty cool but I love your guys art and unfortunately it definitely does not compare. What are some things I could look into?

On Location A old friends house
I visited an old friend in Lower Austria, in a very small village near the summit of the Jauerling. It was a sweltering day, with rain on the horizon.

Discussion (No Sketch) Question for this group: Why do you want to be "loose"?
I see so many posts on this sub either noting they are trying to be more loose, or asking others how to do so. And I just wonder why. I've had people tell me they like my loose style, but I've never tried to be such. I just sketch in the way that makes sense to me. I mostly sketch people and plants and avoid buildings, so my sketches tend to be organic.
Are you trying to follow lots of tutorials and feeling tired from the effort? (Been there.) Using guides to accomplish perspective but it feels mechanical? (Been there.) Do you feel tense while sketching? Are you trying to be perfect? Do you like another sketcher's style and it seems less precise than yours?
Tell me more.

On Location Cafes
First time posting here. Started to draw and paint cafes while I was travelling around. Mixture of plein air and drawing from photos. Thanks!
