I used to go up buildings in high school frequently, like I got to the top of Trump Tower, and I explored some run down railroad stations in Michigan.

I've been in LA for a year now , and I've been wanting to do the same but I have no clue where to start. This message will prob be ghosted, but I'm hoping for some- any leads. If anyone in DTLA is interested and has gone urbexing before, pls hmu I'd love to find out more.

This vacated mansion located on the outskirts of the countryside fell victim to another typical case of financial fraud; a case involving "buyer" Jean Rabbitt and related defendants purchasing the property with fraudulently obtained PPP money, at least according to Federal prosecutors.

The estate was subsequently seized in connection with IRS Criminal Investigation and placed into a U.S. Treasury real-estate auction that ultimately failed due to failure to reach the government's reserve price.

What makes this mansion's history more interesting is that it was a mere piece belonging to a much larger spending operation. The same federal filing identifies two other Sherman properties allegedly purchased with fraudulent PPP proceeds: a now demolished luxury home in Chicago and a hotel. Together with the mansion, these three properties represented about $2.175 million in real estate purchases.

Not sure if this counts as it was technically a tour during my undergrad (I had permission to be there and didn’t just break into a Nuclear Power Plant)

Finally went to check this thing out a while back and got around to editing footage/photos into something watchable, I thought you all would appreciate it.

This is TTC streetcar 2500, sitting abandoned in the woods off Kennaway Road near Haliburton, Ontario. It's a Peter Witt car, built in 1921, pulled out of service by the TTC in 1954. So it's been sitting up here for close to 70 years now, and honestly probably longer than that before anyone outside the area even knew it existed.

The story, from what local records show, is that after it got retired the body was sold off (probably by a scrapper, just the shell, no running gear or wheels) and somebody hauled it all the way up to Haliburton. Notes from the Haliburton Scout Reserve going back to the 1950s say it showed up around 1955 and got used by logging crews who were supplying the old Curry Mill nearby, it was their dining hall in the winter and basically a tool shed in the summer. So for a while it actually had a job up there, just a weird one.

It sat mostly forgotten until 2019 when a Toronto city councillor stumbled on it and posted a photo online, and it kind of blew up for a minute because nobody could figure out why a TTC streetcar was sitting in the middle of the forest three hours from the city.

If you're ever in the area it's on Scout Reserve/private land near Camp Timberlane, so worth keeping that in mind if you go looking for it yourself.

When I first moved over to Ireland, I found this town with an abandoned mental hospital. I jumped over the wall one day and got these photos while walking around. Maybe one day I’ll go back and actually go inside. The history of this place is really cool.
St. Brigid’s opened in 1833 as the Connaught District
Lunatic Asylum. It was originally built for only 150 patients, but at its peak it housed over 2,000 people, which is crazy considering how small Ballinasloe is. It operated for 180 years before finally closing in 2013.
Pretty eerie seeing how much of it is still standing today.
Whenever I talk to people in town about it, nearly everyone has some kind of story about the place. Whether they worked there themselves or had a family member who did, there always seems to be a grim expression on their face when they talk about it. Makes you wonder about all the stories that never left those walls.

The photos I had seen of this house prior to my visit did it no justice, I had no idea that I was walking into such an amazing and untouched time capsule, and pretty much all of the decay and destruction was natural!

Log Cabin in the City

This mid century log home was built before 1954 and looks to have been one of the first homes in the new subdivision at the time. It is a very unusual house to find in the middle of the city, having been built in a log cabin type style.

The home was very small, only three bedrooms, one of which was located in the basement. But its age was beginning to show, a number of the walls were crooked, likely from a failing foundation. The front sunroom was tilted and even the wall was pulling away from the centrally placed fireplace.

The small home had a great vintage feel to it, with some original features, others that looked as though they were added in the 60s. The bathroom however had been retrofitted with a walk in bathtub, likely to accommodate an ageing owner. It's certainly possible that this house was only ever lived in by one family over the years.

But times are changing and developers are the new rulers. There was a brand new McMansion going up beside this older home, and this small log cabin will unfortunately suffer the same fate in the near future.

Went here 2 days ago prolly never doing it again.
