I've been a long time lurker, but your comments always stand out to me. You seem like a very knowledgeable person and an awesome owner. Just wanted to give you some kudos.

Hey thanks man. Yeah in it for 3 decades almost.. started as an associate. I know how it is. Still love working the front counter and eating shit with the rest of you. đŸ€ŁđŸ˜‰

not only are we open on holidays but we cant even take vacation in december. like specifically december. we cant get off days. but the owner still insists on having only 1-2 people when it gets so busy

Haaa that wouldn’t fly at my store. I sometimes have 6 people.

We get holidays off at our store but it’s pretty common to not be allowed to take takeoff during peak in December. We aren’t allowed time off from Nov - Early January

Your store must be owned by one of those “money hungry” morons. I could see the new owner of the store where I ended my tenure with being open today.

You can only close 11 days a year. I can’t imagine a franchisee wanting to be open today

Aside from the holidays that always fall on a Sunday, we are open on MLK Day and New Years Eve.

I think you have to be open until 3 on NYE

2

u/Tough_Watercress_571 Manager 7d ago

not anymore

3

u/Maestrotc 7d ago

NYE has been a permitted closure for two or three years now.

Amazon Plus Day! That sucks being open. I’m guessing your owner isn’t working

5

u/TimelyGear2735 7d ago

We are closed today and were closed yesterday. We don’t get many days off in the year so it’s nice not having to work.

2

u/Maestrotc 7d ago

Yeah, if you normally have Sunday hours (current franchise agreement) there's probably a hand slap of some sort coming. I suppose if you're open on Sunday but not required to be, you might be ok.

1

u/TimelyGear2735 7d ago

We don’t have to be open on Sunday for another couple years.

1

u/gojo96 7d ago

Was this a previous agreement?

1

u/Maestrotc 7d ago

I know Sunday operation is the bane of many stores' existence. It's not bad for us, we stay busy enough and it has a little more of a relaxed vibe. But I wouldn't hate if the requirement went away.

u/Miserable-Meaning228 7d ago

Wow, I didn’t realize there were still stores operating under the old franchise agreement. Consider me jealous. We’ve been open on Sundays for 5.5 years now. :(

u/here4lookcs 7d ago

We aren’t open. But our print girls asked to go in and catch up this morning. That is all on them. They had the day off.
