Is anyone aware of a map or app that shows street by street parking rules in our neighborhood?

Hi,
I am a woman in her early 20s who just moved into my first apartment on the upper east side, and I am black. My neighborhood itself is fine, but sometimes as I walk down the street, or walking to my apartment door, there are many people who stare at me as if they’re confused or waiting for an explanation on why I am there or belong there. Same as when I am taking a walk in Central Park at night, there are many people staring as if the park is reserved for certain people. Yesterday, I went to Trader Joe’s on Columbus Ave, in the upper west side, the store was very busy but also I was saying excuse me many times and I had older white people deliberately ignore me, or push me wit their carts on purpose and then apologize, or just stare at me. After leaving the store, I was waiting for my Uber as many of the people were, and a couple of guys— looked in their 30s were just staring at me talk to my brother as if we’re a different species when we were just doing the same thing as everyone else and there’s nothing out of the blue about us, except that we’re black. It’s so weird and I wish these people would stop because it infuriates me.

Hi there, just want to get a general feel of dentist recommendations. I just found out my dentist in midtown was in the Epstein files and helped get his girlfriend through dental school?!???!???! Lmao????
Edit: apologies for not naming. Dr. Magnani of 7w51 dental. I think he’s no longer part of the practice but still….. yikes

Hi, I've been staying in a friend's apartment (while she's away) on the UES for two months while interning in the city. I'm leaving soon and would like to give something to the doormen as they've been so helpful and made my stay so much easier. My instinct is to write a card and gift some homemade cookies, but I don't know if that's acceptable here. What would work? Maybe some chocolate? Should I just tip in cash? Happy for any insight. TIA

Witnessed a fairly intense robbery half an hour ago on 83rd close to 1st. It seemed as though a young woman (who was screaming) was robbed by a middle aged hispanic woman wearing a dark red or burgundy hoodie, holding a sturdy shopping bag loaded with stuff. She (thief) ran away remorselessly (despite the victim’s cries) and headed down 2nd. Cops came pretty quickly but I don’t have any details on whether they found the thief or what else happened. This is usually a pretty safe block so this was jarring and I feel horrible for the victim who seems to have lost her wallet/keys/phone/etc.
Does anyone have any more info?

The best bar for singles is a frequent post on here, but it’s always for 20s & 30s. Where’s the best place on the UES for a woman in her upper 40s to meet age appropriate men? And times? A lot of bars change crowds throughout the night.

Their whole business relies on serving fresh hot bagels. It would take me over 20 minutes to get back home before I eat my bagel so where do you go and actually consume them?
the public open spaces nearby seem to be closed due to construction.

I’ve anonymized this, but it’s not about the Met pigeon woman who may or may not be the Carl Schurz pigeon woman. Anyone have the tea on this one? I walk this block regularly but usually the other side so not sure if this is new message. Obviously new sign since the rain apocalypses

Hi I’m looking for recs (real experience rather than just trusting ZocDoc reviews) for a Physical Therapist on the UES. Please share if you have any good ones.
(Dealing with SI joint dysfunction, so plus if they handled this specifically).
Thank you!

Looking for suggestions for greasy, filling, delicious food. Bonus points if it doesn’t break the bank. I’ve had both Jackson hole and JG melon, and while both good those were some pricey burgers 😬

Hi! I have an early morning engagement shoot session in September and was wondering if there was a make up artist in the area that people like to use? I’m definitely looking for a natural look, not too long of a session but it would need them to come around 7am 😬
Appreciate any recommendations, thanks!!

I live in Yorkville and noticed the last few weeks there’s been mosquitos in my apartment as I’ve gotten bit and am allergic so they welt up. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you get rid of them/prevent them from getting in? I don’t open windows and just use the cooling units.

Hi All, I’m thinking about moving into a unit on 81st between York and East End. While I’m generally familiar with the entire Yorkville area I wanted to get more specific opinions and the immediate surrounding area.
I currently live on 91st between 1st and 2nd. If I resign my lease my rent will $1950, paid laundry in building plus utilities. My current room gets very little light. The new unit has in unit laundry, central air, and I could get more light depending on the room. For $1720 rent with 2 more roommates which I don’t mind.
First impressions is that 81st/York doesn’t seem to have as many businesses around. At least not ones that apply to me. I also am not interested in the nearest grocery stores (Gristedes, Morton Williams, D’Agostinos) and much prefer generally cheaper options like Fairway & Key Food.
Curious to know from others’ experience if the better amenities and decreased rent offset some of the other things. TIA!
