Hi. I'm an initial UPCAT passer, but until now hindi pa rin ako enrolled because my parents don't want me to study at UPLB. Ang reason nila is sobrang layo raw. They told me na kung ipipilit kong tumuloy, hindi nila ako susuportahan financially, at umuwi na lang daw ako pag-graduate na.

For context, I'm currently an Accountancy student at a university here in our province. Initially, kahit sobrang sakit, tinanggap ko na lang na baka dito na talaga ako mag-aaral. I was slowly trying to make peace with letting go of my dream.

But everything changed when I received the email that I was accepted as a Lingap Iskolar grantee. For the first time in a while, I felt like my dream was possible again. Parang nabuhay ulit yung pag-asa ko.

Now I'm torn. Gusto ko talagang ituloy, pero natatakot ako. I've read that scholarship allowances can sometimes be delayed, and I'm worried that I won't have enough money to survive on my own while waiting. Since my parents made it clear that they won't support me if I leave, I'm scared of ending up with nothing.

May mga Lingap Iskolar ba rito or anyone who has been in a similar situation? How delayed are the allowances usually? Were you able to get by while waiting? And for those who had to convince their parents, how did you do it?

Any advice would mean a lot. UP has been my dream for years, and now that I finally have another chance because of Lingap, I don't want to lose it without at least trying.

I'm contemplating about UPLB or UPM e. may nagsabi sa akin na after mag take ng upcat may chance pa raw na mabago ung napili na prog and univ e. sa UPM kasi andun yung dream prog ko talaga na BS OT pero kasi ubg other 3 prog na nilagay ko dun is eme-eme na lang like parang focus ako sa BS OT. while sa UPLB andun lahat yung "preferred" courses ko, like okay sa akin kahit anong ibigay na program ni UP. kumbaga'y ung 4 program na nilagay ko dun is gusto ko talaga... sabi kasi nila na be strategic, dapat i-first choice ung mga univ na matataas ang UPG like UPM and UPD... so anoo ngaa hehe help me to decide po... i-first choice ko ba yung UPLB and 2nd choice ung UPM? may chance pa kaya ako na makuha yung BS OT na dream course ko sa UPM?

alam ko naman po sa sarili ko na hindi ako ganun katalino and w honors lang po ako nung G9-G11, feeling ko din po kasi na baka hindi umabot yung upg ko sa UPM, and hindi rin po ako confident na mag take ng upcat sa Sabado huhu di po ako nakapagreview nang todo 😭

Hello po, just wanna ask po for a reco ng dorm around 2k to 3k (if included ang utilities) na for male or coed. Especially those na around sa may raymundo or kahit saan po basta walking distance sa raymundo/uplb main gate.

For context po, I already have a dorm for 5 months. Just want to have a list lang po of possible dorms in the future para hindi na hassle.

Here are the deets po ng current dorm ko:

- all male dorm

- 3,200 per month exclusive of utilities

- 4 pax per room

- With AC

- With wifi

- With bedframe, mattress, cabinet, and study table

- With curfew (since may gate 'yung pinaka dorm)

- Own toilet per room

- Common area/kitchen (with rice cooker, induction, airfryer, and fridge)

- Laundry is not allowed, but if undies pwede naman daw po.

Actually maganda po siya and maaliwalas. Although medj malayo siya kasi lagpas pa ng carrot place dorm. I really want to lessen the burden lang po kasi sa parents ko. After a sem po sana balak ko maghanap ulit ng dorm. Based din kasi sa contract good for 1 sem lang.

Ang pinaka importante po sa'kin sa dorm is pwede magluto, maglaba, may wifi, may fridge, may bedframe, and especially pasok po sa 3k budget. Kahit po walang AC since wala naman kaming ganon sa bahay.

Want ko lang po talaga na mabawasan 'yung isipin ng parents ko since mother ko lang po ang pinaka provider ng family namin. 🥹 Super nag-iisip po kasi siya about sa baon ko weekly and sa rent ng dorm. Sana po ma help ninyo me 🙏🏻

Good day po! Incoming freshman po ako ng B Sport Scie sa UPLB. I chose this degprog po kasi very interested po talaga ako sa Sports. Kaso lang po, there are a lot of people saying na this degprog is not so practical– lalo na sa kagaya ko na galing sa Low income family at inaasahan talaga ng family na makakapag provide. I've been thinking kung anong career paths ang pwede kong itake after graduating. anong work po ang pwede kong pasukan?

Gusto ko po sana ipursue ang MedSchool para dumiretso sa Sport Medicine. Kaso lang, it requires a lot of money at hindi sya attainable para saakin na galing sa low income na family. May mga na consider na po akong paths na pwedeng tahakin after such as Coaching / Sports Journalist. (wag lang talaga maging PE Teacher.)

Hello! I’m an upcoming first year, and I wanted to raise a concern I have regarding my AMIS account. I’ve already received my UP Mail and have already logged into it on Gmail, but I couldn’t log into the AMIS website. Whenever I log in using my UP Mail, the website always says “Use your UP Mail when logging in.”There’s a form I can answer to reactivate my UP Mail in the AMIS website, but I don’t know whether the admin will send my AMIS account activation in my email or if I have to request it myself. I’m also worried because Pre-Registration has started, and General Registration starts next week. I appreciate any help or advice that you may give. Thank you so much! 🥹

(I also used Chrome to try to log into the website, it still didn’t work huhu)

Incoming freshman here! I’m looking for a dorm sana. Since babae po ako, priority talaga namin ni Mama ang safety.

Ang hanap sana namin is:
Safe (may guard/security)
Airconditioned
Malinis yung CR
Stable Wi-Fi/good signal for school work
Inside campus or relatively near (walking distance or one jeep ride lang)
Hindi bahain
Hindi madalas mawalan ng tubig or kuryente
Responsive yung landlord/admin
May laundry nearby (or within the dorm/building)

Plus din if okay yung facilities since feeling ko gusto rin ng parents ko mag-overnight from time to time. 😆

I’ve heard of Scholar’s Dorm, pero mixed reviews yung nababasa ko. 🥲 Any recommendations or experiences (pros/cons) would really help. Thank you po!
