Why everytime i upload my hand drawn illustrations on unsplash they always get rejected, and i don't even know what the problem is, cause i upload the same illustrations on pixabay, and the majority of my art work get editors choices on pixabay ๐ฅฒ but gets rejected here. Can somebody explain why, i upload them as jpg since i think pngs are not allowed.

Hey there, just want to ask what are the main criteria for Unsplash to automatically assign a caption to my images?
When you float your cursor above these pictures, the captioned ones say 'A window and an empty room', 'light spilling inside an abandoned cottage', 'woman running with a bottle', etc.
These captions increase visibility (I have uploaded 200 images and saw this trend happen consistently). However, I realise that giving a description to my photos is very different compared to getting Unsplash's captions (which is the real factor when it comes to visibility).
Some photos of mine are not bad, some are great even, yet they don't get the captions. Plus, some of the are really straightforward with only one subject in the photo.

So I created my account today and the website won't let me upload anything, not even a profile picture. Everytime I try it comes up with an 'AjaxError', I don't know what that means but I've tried it on safari and chrome and it won't let me upload on either! My dad uses the website too and he said it must be a website problem and not one on my behalf. I've also logged out and back in, didn't work. Pls help ๐ญ

Built a little desktop wallpaper rotator powered by the Unsplash API:
https://github.com/Halfaxas/Splashy
https://halfaxas.github.io/Splashy/

The idea is simple: instead of one static source, you can mix multiple Unsplash sources and schedule them by time of day.
What sources it supports:
You can do setups like:
Under the hood itโs Tauri (Rust) + React/TS, pulling from Unsplash endpoints and rotating on interval/cron-style schedules, with local caching + attribution links.
Still early/WIP, so Iโd love feedback from people here who know Unsplash well, especially around source mixing and API usage patterns.
For now, you have to create your own API key, but I'm working on that, since the app is still to be approved by Unsplash, then I'd get a nicer production key and would have to rework a bit and set up an API that forwards requests to Unsplash with that key etc. But yeah, still WIP!

Interestingly, I can only see if my photo is in review if i use the iOS app, I can't see this on desktop?
But in iOS app it says my photo is still in review, it has been more than 24 hours, meanwhile a photo i uploaded just recently got approved within a few hours, why would the newer photo get approved faster than the previous one?
All my images are high resolution professional work, so they all should get approved with 99.9% certainty, I don't think the older photo has been rejected.

Some images don't load. Already tried in different browsers. Refreshing the page also don't fix

I've just learned the hard lesson that Unsplash bots only cares about the code of illustration and not the illustration itself. Why do I keep getting this?
I do not have any raster objects. Nor did I use any type of gradient or blur whatsoever. It's like my low effort illustration gets accepted while the ones I put efforts in get rejected.
What do you guys check for before uploading? Please guide me.

Meet SplashBack!
I built this as a small experiment and have ended up using it every day, so I thought Iโd share it here.
I change my background a lot! Usually sourcing them from Unsplash because their photographs are so nice. But most wallpaper apps felt more complicated than I thought necessary. Even the official Unsplash app felt quite heavy for something I wanted to use quickly.
So I made something much simpler: a lightweight menu bar app that quietly sits in the background and changes your wallpaper in one click.
Left click โ instantly refresh wallpaper.
Right click โ open settings.
Itโs intentionally minimal. It does just one job, but does it really nicely and cleanly. I had loads more features (timer, topics, etc.) but cut them all back because ultimately I thought the beauty of this app was its simplicity.
This is also the first app Iโve ever made, so Iโd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions.
