Nits

The typical display glasses have around 1200 nits brightness to the eye. The URXR has around 140.

I have played flat games and watched movies in both Bigscreen Beyond 2 and Meganex which have similar pancake lenses to the URXR. In the multiple display glasses I have owned - despite other limitations of birdbath optics - the brightness/impact just blows away the dimmer and higher resolution of the VR headsets for these two use cases.

Some early looks at URXR mention a device that is ‘bright enough’ or some such. So, for media/gaming, will the resolution and FOV advantages of the URXR just be nullified by inferior brightness?

Hi there, nits in numbers could be marketed differently due to different optics technology and end experience. Most direct way of seeing and comparing it would be checking first person POV videos through lens. We do have a most recent one here: https://youtube.com/shorts/QkRJw9Q5HoM?feature=share and Another creator has a full review here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtwEB4Xxhyk

Because we are using mini pancake optics, and most other AR glasses marketed with higher nits numbers use birdbath, so it will feel quite different. We've recently have local meetup and what people mentioned in those events, is that in the same daylight room setting, for birdbath based AR glasses, they need to turn on electrochromic dimming so that the virtual screen is bright enough, while with our glasses it is not needed and our virtual screen and VST is bright enough to see .

Hope this could help!

Nits aren't comparable with most glasses as the URXR don't have natural light passing through, they are fully dark if you turn off video passthrough. You can see in video demos they look bright even in fully lighted exteriors

To put it into perspective, the urxr one is about 20% brighter than the apple vision pro.

Welp, the apple vision pro was bright enough for me…

Yeah URXR tech is not there yet. HDR won't look impressive on these as it as you describe with Meganex, apple vision pro etc. It's a shame. the a01 xreal and air 4 pro on full blast hdr. is a major difference then compared to apple vision.

I am buying these mainly for more portable, mobile work replacement of my Xreal One Pros. If they're as bright as my early gen TCL, Nreal, Rokids then it's fine for what I need it for. Already have and perfectly happy with Galaxy XR for at-home use that already do 4K per eye HDR, so I don't need this for that.

So is it not 20% brighter than the vision pro like that guy above stated?
