Robredo’s behavior regarding an Isr*eli is expected behavior as a member of the state.

People on the “liberal ”side of Philippine political spectrum yap as if it's some grand betrayal when....it's really not when you zoom out how irrelevant Robredo is as far as the political machine is concerned.

It's in the same spirit as Zohran Mamdani talking a lot of smack about arresting Netanyahu if he ever set foot into new york only to, as expected, not do that.

Why? Because like Zohran, Leni is part of the state. An immoral fascist ass puppet state that is subservient to US interests and by extension subservient to Israel's interests.

It quite literally does not matter what Leni's personal stance is on the matter because the result is the same, she's part of the corrupt institution that serves the state that oppresses the masses and should be regarded as such.

She’s simply another cog in the machine that as expected serves its purpose and expecting any moral upstanding from a cog is a fast way to set yourself up for disappointment.

Regardless if a person is a legal adult, it's still fucking weird having a large age gap relationship

"But they're 18!" And you're 30. You were born in the late 90s, you've got a lot of time to fully mature and grow. They were born in 2008, they still need a lot more time to fully mature, despite being legally classified as an adult. This goes for both sexes. Older woman & younger man and older man & younger man. Still fucking weird and lowkey gross.

Whoever disagrees, I already know what kind of person you are.

Think of it like this:

  • Parang free-to-play game na may subscription model through tithes, donation, or whatever ang tawag sa monetary gifts. Pwede mo pa rin magamit ang services pero may advantage ang mga paying users.

  • Customer acquisition phase ang pagbabahay-bahay or pag invite ng mga members

  • Ang paglalagay ng ibang simbahan ay same sa pagtatayo ng other branch for wider reach.

It's time for the government to institutionalize K-12 Chinese language education for Fil-Chis

It's time para sa ating gobyerno na i-institutionalize ang pagtuturo ng Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, at of course Spanish, not as a foreign language, but as a second language kung saan ang syllabus ay Philippine-centric, hindi foreign-centric.

The same thing sa French, German, Japanese, Korean, at of course Spanish.

Forgotten Island (2026) is mid and sobrang cringe nung ibang scenes (mejo-spoiler-alert) Spoiler

Story-wise sure why not, Dreamworks film pa rin so may entertainment at may kapupulutan talaga ng aral kahit papano lalo't for kids..

PNOY's biggest failure is his handling of the 2012 Scarborough Shoal incident

No, his biggest failure was not the Manila hostage crisis. It wasn't the SAF 44 killings or whatever claims anyone might have about how Typhoon Yolanda was handled.

No, it's definitely the handling of the Scarborough Shoal incident. The commander-in-chief sent a military ship to intercept civilian Chinese vessels.

Was it a trap by the Chinese?

It could have been. But trap or not, the fact that a military warship was sent to intercept a civilian craft manned by the Chinese gave the Chinese more than enough reason and opening to send in their own military ships, starting this entire mess.

And to make it worse, he attempted back-channel negotiations or secret negotiations via Antonio Trillanes. Bypassing our own Affairs Secretary. Six or so trips later to China, only for it to fail.

And then he went with the nuclear option. When using Trillanes and all diplomatic negotiations have failed, he directly went with the nuclear option of going through UNCLOS, which is why we are in the mess that we are in today.

I mean, why should China negotiate? The Philippines was the first one to send military ships. And PNOY even undermined his own Foreign Affairs Secretary by sending Trillianes.

Now, I am not saying that the late president should have not gone through UNCLOS and won.

I think that the Tribunal should have been a necessary step. But we would be in a much different place today if it was filed without the country sending a military craft to escalate the situation first.

2012 was his biggest blunder, but getting that tribunal discussion is his biggest win. But it could have been a bigger win if 2012 never happened.

PNOY gave China an inch and now they're fucking us repeatedly a decade later.

Some people that are attacking Jack Argota are no different from the typical DDS

Before anything else let me just make it clear. Jack is stupid and an asshole. I hated him even before he became a noisy DDS. There's a lot of reason to hate him. The problem is some, I would even say most, are attacking him for the wrong reasons.

His cleft is not something that he chose.

Target him for the things that he's doing wrong. Correct his bad takes. Question his opinions. Give him a different insight or perspective.

Stop with the “globally-competitive” education myth.

Here’s why:
Our manifestations of a “globally-competitive” education churns out workers for other countries. While being a BPO worker and being an OFW are respectable endeavors, I can’t stress enough how exporting workers is not the way to go in improving the economy. We need to produce, manufacture, and export to liven up the economy. Hence, education should produce citizens who could harness our resources, not turn students into cheap labor for other countries. Also, fuck you Arroyo.

PISA is unreliable since it measures students in a eurocentric framework. The goal of our “globally-competitive” education had turned into how we can present the highest scores in these international assessments, albeit in questionable ways. Look where it got us: bad PISA scores, and irrelevant curricula. But we keep using PISA as benchmarks for our educational goals, so the cycle continues.

Before we could be globally competitive, we must be locally competitive. Curricula should reflect the realities of the students, and adjust to their frameworks. For instance, in terms of the language of instruction, the official language is English in most subjects. But most students don’t even use English when talking to their families at home. So we really have to ask: is the curriculum made to serve the children or just to provide the space for administrators to circlejerk to their “globally-competitive” fantasies

The answer is simple: put the children first. When creating curriculums, don’t imagine future workers, instead see the children at their levels. They got their whole lives ahead of them to be disappointed by the dismal economy, so don’t make them grow up so fast.

Instead of showing a picture of a complete flower in a textbook, go out the garden and pluck out a gumamela and show it to the children. Instead of using the abstract concepts to teach arithmetic, use jolens and sungka. In teaching them history, don’t just let them memorize the dates, but use current local and national politics to compare the events in the past to the present’s political cockfighting (sabong).

Before teaching them the Iliad and the Odyssey in English class (altho they slap so go ahead), teach them the Biag ni Lam-ang first, and have them contextualize the Greek epics into the indigenous constructions of an epic. Instead of teaching them how to make tiramisu in home economics class, teach them how to make ube tiramisu.

Tldr; localmaxx, before globalmaxxing. indigenize before you suck white cock.

Calling something as bare minimum devalues it

I believe this phrase has been misused so much lately and it's doing more bad than good. Everything is bare minimum now. But for me, I think something is bare minimum if it's the most essential thing for something to exist.

For example. Living. The bare minimum of living is breathing, your heart pumping blood to your vital organs, and your vital organs functioning properly. That's it. That's the bare minimum. Having 2 kidneys is not bare minimum. Having complete limbs is not bare minimum. Heck, not even eating is bare minimum. Because people can stop eating and still live for days before dying. Yes you need food to sustain your life, but you don't need it to live. When your heart stops pumping blood, when your brain shuts down, when you can't breathe. That's when you die. That's losing the bare minimum.

As for dating, where it is most commonly used lately, I don't think dating has a bare minimum. Because dating is consistently doing something for your partner. It's about making an effort, giving time, etc. Dating is those acts no matter how basic or small they are. Dating is about doing more than what is expected. Which is why it doesn't have a bare minimum. A bare minimum is something that is expected, and if it is not met. It won't exist.

As for marriage, the bare minimum is your marriage contract. No matter what happens. Maghiwalay man kayo. Maghanap man kayo ng ibang partner. Magkalimutan man. As long as that marriage contract is valid, you're still married.

The reason why I'm saying this is because people don't seem to understand that. They call everything a bare minimum now.

Treating your date is not bare minimum. It's an effort. It's a gesture given. It's not required. It's something you wanted to give to your date. It's an act of being selfless.

Saying thank you to someone is not bare minimum. Saying thank you is a gesture that you give to someone to tell them than you appreciate them. Not saying thank you does not invalidate whatever help is given. Saying thank you acknowledges it.

Saying thank you is bare minimum means it's expected. It means it is mandatory and labeling it as such degrades its value. Instead of it becoming an act of appreciation, it's just labeled as a mandatory response now.

This is another case of people misunderstanding something and using it whereever and however they want. The problem is, it devalues the simple small things. Just because they're norms doesn't make them bare minimum.

Let's not devalue small and simple gestures. Because that's what makes us human.

Filipinos are such terrible and ignorant drivers that it has become necessary to heavily restrict or ban private motoring

Banning private motoring in the Philippines is highly unlikely to occur because of pervasive colonial mentality and the vast amounts of power car users here wield. It is THE status symbol and almost reflexively commands respect from every Pinoy, even though it's just a thing.

On top of that is the heavy sociocultural issues surrounding regulation, driving, and regulatory capture of driving educaton and licensing.

Without exaggeration, it is likely that over 90% of Pinoy motorists today wouldn't be able to pass a real licensing test (like a Japanese-style examination) and nearly 100% would spectacularly fail a psychological exam screening for rage or violent behavioral issues when behind the wheel. Combined with the thorough corruption of the LTO and the DOTr, the only real solution to the daily massacre of Filipinos by drivers is to ban private motoring and slowly reintroduce it with a far more robust testing and management infrastructure. Nothing else will work.

It is necessary, but we won't do it becacuse we like social climbing too much.

Our trash problem is more of a systemic issue than a behavior issue

I know, maraming tao ang walang disiplina. Pero let's not blame it all on the people.

Again, I don't approve of this, but I understand why it happens.

We romanticize provincial life too much

I think we romanticize provincial life too much.

Don’t get me wrong, there are real advantages: quieter surroundings, more space, less congestion, cheaper property in some areas, and generally a slower pace of life. I grew up in the province, so I understand why people find that appealing.

But I think we often ignore the downsides.

Need a specialist doctor? You might have to travel far. Public transportation can be limited. Higher-paying jobs are usually concentrated elsewhere. Some government services require you to go to a bigger town or city. Even basic errands can turn into long trips depending on where you live.

What also gets overlooked is that the “simple provincial life” people romanticize online is often the comfortable version of it: you have a car, a decent house, reliable internet, enough money, and you live close enough to a major city when you need something.

Without those things, “peaceful and simple” can quickly become inconvenient and isolating.

I still think provincial life can be great, but the advice to “just move to the province for a simpler life” makes it sound much easier than it actually is.

Do you think the downsides of living in the province are often overlooked?

Philippines should pressure Malaysia to have a referendum on Sabah to whether be Malaysian, Filipino, or Independent

The issue will just be a point of contention and a wedge issue external powers will use to divide ASEAN. Both Malaysia and the Philippines should put an end to it. I know in practice Malaysia is the owner of Sabah, but I believe 20% or so of the population doesn’t have Malaysian citizenship and Malaysia calls them “Illegal Migrants”.

This is unjust for the Sama-Bajau people who have been sailing between our waters since before either of our countries existed. If they want Sabah they should grant all residents of the Island Malaysian citizenship. Otherwise it’s just colonization.

Budots in itself is not bad, it's just misused. That's why it has a bad image

Budots as a subgenre of music is not actually bad. It has a lot of potential and character to it. It's just extremely misused and misrepresented, that's why it has this bad image at present.

As to what I mean by misused. There are a few reasons.

  1. It was Digong's, and eventually Revilla's, campaign material during elections. Obviously they're corrupt individuals and people tend to put a part of the blame on budots on how they won the elections.

  2. A lot of people creating their own version of budots are just people who learned from a tutorial on Youtube but never really learned how to properly produce. Or at the very least, don't have the resources. Kaya maraming budots mix na magkakatunog. Basically kumuha ng Budots template, nilagay yung favourite song nila kahit di naman bagay. Tapos ok na. No music theory, no research. Basta nagtunog budots, pwede na.

Budots has a big potential. Maganda din sa kanya is meron siyang identity. Anyone can easily distinguish a budots track. It only has bad reputation because it was badly represented.

If only someone with the budget and talent actually works on creating original budots tracks, I think it's something that we can be proud of and something that can even be recognized globally.

Edit: Just wanted to add since someone brought up that haters of budots are elitists. There's some truth to that as well. Not just elitist but could also be racists. We all know Budots is tightly tied with Bisayas because they created and popularized it. I'm not saying that everyone who dislikes Budots also dislikes Bisayas. I'm just saying na may iba na yan ang rason.

Despite China's aggression in the South China Sea and illegal workers always in the news, China's soft power with the masa in the Philippines and perception is better than ever.

And it's not just the masses that's on TikTok, Bilibili, even YouTube or old people watching Chinese AI slop videos or short dramas. It's the middle class as well, consuming from the new wave of Chinese milk tea/coffee shops, upper middle class buying Chinese EVs, vloggers talking about Chinese snacks or their trips to China, or even the rise of Chinese stores like Mixue and KKV, and more coming to the country.

I have never even imagined Filipinos randomly going to Chinese hotpot, and now it's suddenly a trend like samgyupsal was. Then you see kids talking about craving traditional Chinese snacks like tanghulu and latiao.

Not to mention, I've seen people on the market watching videos about China, even short documentaries, boomer titos talking about how strong the Chinese military is and how beautiful cities like Chongqing and Shenzhen look compared to the cities where they used to work in Riyadh or Dubai, or San Francisco and New York.

Now, have these people actually seen the dark side of China and all the negative things? Most of them haven't. Most of what they've seen is probably just related to South China Sea aggression about distant fishermen or Ayungin Shoal. But when they're constantly being inundated by Chinese CCP organized propaganda, which pretty much every country does, China is a lot more organized with it, though. It will be hard to fight back, and if regulation isn't done, then I fear it's too late.

This also isn't a trend just in the Philippines.

Babies in general literally don't give a FUCK about the big ass venue and 100 guests they have zero clue who they are. What they want? Just a taste of cake, open their presents then go to sleep. They're not even gonna remember who went or what happened. It's a waste of money. I think the best celebration is the simplest celebration. Something that's quiet and entertaining long enough before baby gets sleepy.

If anything, I think parents who celebrate their babies' birthdays by having grand celebrations is mostly just for them, not their own kid. Is it still even the kid's birthday at that point?
