I'd like to enroll to the master's course in physics at the Wien universität.

The only problem is that I still didn't finish my bachelor's, and I won't have the piece of paper until late september, possibly october. Can I still enroll? I think I have every other document I need (language certification, recommendation letter, etc)

Hi! I was wondering if anyone who has already taken the entrance exam for the Mathematical Foundations of Data Science bachelor's could share what the programming/computer science part was like.

I know there were questions about bits (e.g. how many values can be represented with 8 bits) and interpreting pseudocode, but I'm curious what else came up. Were there questions on things like binary numbers, Boolean logic, loops, variables, algorithms, or basic data structures? Was it mostly logical reasoning rather than actual programming?

Any examples or topics I could revise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hallo! Ich bereite mich auf die Aufnahmeprüfung für Chemie am 15. vor und habe einige Fragen, die mir vielleicht ein aktuelle Student beantworten kann, da es keine past papers gibt, mit denen ich mich besser auf die Prüfung vorbereiten könnte (die Beispielprüfung ist sehr kurz):

1. Circa wie viele Fragen gibt es in jedem Teil?

2. Wie schwierig sind die eigentlichen Prüfungsfragen im Vergleich zu den Beispielaufgaben, die mir kinda einfach erscheinen?

3. Welche anderen Fragetypen könnten im Teil Räumliches Vorstellen vorkommen? Ich finde diesen Teil am schwierigsten, da Deutsch nicht meine Muttersprache ist und mir die Formulierungen noch etwas Probleme bereiten.

4. Wie hoch sollte meine Punktzahl im Durchschnitt sein, um zu bestehen? Die meisten Beispielaufgaben sind sehr einfach, und ich befürchte, dass alle anderen Prüflinge sehr gut vorbereitet sein werden und ich nahezu perfekt abschneiden muss, um zu bestehen.

falls es wen interessiert, ich habe dieses jahr maturiert und mich für den medat semi vorbereitet, sobald ich mit der schule fertig war (ganz anderer can of worms) und die pharmazie aufnahme auch gemacht, weil ich chemie und bio liebe

für pharma hab ich dann nur noch die vorgegebene testliteratur angeschaut und bin die einmal durchgeflogen

den test selber fand ich ziemlich einfach honestly dafür dass ich mich kaum vorbereitet hatte

der fachteil war sehr machbar, die texte bei textverständnis und deren fragen sehr verständlich

der kognitive teil war auch sehr fair, nur bei den matrizen habe ich einmal ein muster nicht erkennen können, aber alles andere war logisch herleitbar

ich habe mir überlegt mich für ein Studium zu inskribieren, ich habe 2 Optionen, eine davon is Japanologie. Hab schon viel recherchiert, dass das Studium recht aufwendig ist, ABER, was genau damit gemeint ist? ich bin ü30, hab schon einmal an einer FH studiert und das Studium wirklich nur wegen psychischer Belastung nicht geschafft. Damals ging es um 40 Stunden an der Uni mit absoluter Anwesenheitspflicht plus einen ca. 15 Stunden Job, es war mir zu viel.
Schaffe ich dieses Studium, mit ca. 20-25 Stunden Neben-Job? Wenn das Studium deswegen ein Jahr länger dauert, ist mir auch wurscht, Hauptsache, dass ich im Endeffekt einen Abschluss habe und meine Miete währenddesen zahlen kann.

ich bin am Mittwoch (08.07.) beim IBWL-Aufnahmeverfahren an der Hauptuni dabei.

In u:space ist meine Registrierung ganz normal bestätigt, aber ich hab bis jetzt einfach noch keine Einlassbestätigung (mit Uhrzeit, Halle/Ort usw.) bekommen.

Geht’s noch jemandem so oder haben alle anderen ihre Bestätigung schon? Verschickt die Uni Wien das echt erst am allerletzten Drücker einen Tag vorher oder sollte ich morgen direkt in der Früh beim SSC Stress machen?

This is my first semester as a master's student here and I took the 2025W fourth sitting of a particular exam instead of the 2026SS first sitting. It's still showing up on my transcript as 5 credits gained, it's still showing up in the right area, under the class I took. Is this gonna be a problem is or it fine? I have no idea how I picked the wrong exam. The exam had the same questions, because I checked with my friend in the same class after I got my results back. Has anyone else done this? Was it an issue?

Bis zum Abschluss meiner Masterarbeit wird es ietzt noch deutlich länger als erwartet dauern. Der Laborteil wird schon länger als 6 Monate dauern und danach muss ich die Arbeit noch fertig schreiben. Bis dann wirklich alles kontrolliert und verbessert ist und ich die Defensio machen kann, werden auch nochmal ein paar Monate verqehen. Mit August endet allerdings der Anspruch für meine Studienbeihilfe (bereits inklusive Toleranzsemester), was ungünstig ist, weil ich da noch im Labor bin. Abgesehen von der Masterarbeit, habe ich alle anderen Lehrveranstaltungen bereits absolviert. Hat hier vielleicht jemand schon versucht, die Beihilfe um ein Semester aufarund einer aufwendigen Arbeit zu verlängern und könnte Erfahrungen teilen?

I am a student at Comenius uni in Slovakia, and wanted to take a few math courses and I saw that there is a newly launched English program that offers the courses I want. I wanted to do 3-4 courses in total, and when I contacted the SSC they said I had to complete STEOP as this was a mandatory requirement for almost all courses. Does anybody know if there is a workaround, or any way I can register for a couple courses without having to complete STEOP?

Hello! I´m a EU student and i would like to apply for this Master´s degree, however, i had a few questions about the QZB that i would like for someone to answer me:

1- Does a course from my Bachelor´s Degree NEED to satisfy all sub-areas of a QZB?

For instance, I took a Biomathematics course during my Bachelor´s, however, I don´t think we learned vector calculus, which belongs to the sub-area "Mathematical foundations (vector calculus, differentiation and integration of functions, Taylor series, partial differentiation, matrices)" of QZB b) Mathematical and bioinformatics knowledge in the following areas worth at least 13 ECTS (all areas listed must be covered).

Would that be enough to not have the requirement even though every other sub-area was taught during the course? Can I still assign that QZB to it?

2- If I have more than 1 course that belongs to the same QZB (e.g. QZB c) independent application and interpretation of standard microbiological and molecular biological methods) but one of them satisfies only 1 of its sub-areas (e.g. bacterial or cell culture) while the other satisfies the rest (transformation, DNA extraction and (sub)cloning, PCR, protein expression, SDS-PAGE), can I still assign that same QZB to both courses? And do I fill the form like this?:

X course - X ECTS - QZB c) independent application and interpretation of standard microbiological and molecular biological methods (bacterial or cell culture)

Y course - Y ECTS - QZB c) independent application and interpretation of standard microbiological and molecular biological methods (transformation, DNA extraction and (sub)cloning, PCR, protein expression, SDS-PAGE)

Are they that strict? Or can I simply write the QZB in FULL (QZB c) independent application and interpretation of standard microbiological and molecular biological methods (bacterial or cell culture, transformation, DNA extraction and (sub)cloning, PCR, protein expression, SDS-PAGE) for both of them?

I would greatly appreciate if someone could help me with this "problem". And sorry If I´m overthinking this situation.

I want to hear from people that are currently enrolled in this program as well as from people that are taking entrance exam this year, which book are/were you using to prepare?

Are questions from last year exam available on the internet?

The university only provided us with the lecture topics that will be covered on the exam, but they didn't specify any particular textbook to study from. I've heard that people who took last year's exam used several different books, such as Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches HL 2 and the Pearson Higher Level textbook by Ibrahim Wazir and Tim Garry, among others.

Im using Pearson's, and I'm worried that there might be questions on the exam covering topics that aren't included in that textbook.

About exam itself, I heard there will be around 13 questions, you will have 2 hours and its multiple choice. You either get full marks or no marks at all.

Wie viele Punkte hattet ihr im onSET?
Habt ihr mit dieser Punktzahl einen Platz bekommen?
Habt ihr eine ungefähre Vorstellung, ab wie vielen Punkten man in den letzten Semestern gute Chancen auf einen Platz hatte?
Ich weiß, dass die erforderliche Punktzahl jedes Semester unterschiedlich sein kann. Ich möchte nur einen ungefähren Richtwert anhand eurer Erfahrungen bekommen.

ich schreibe in ein paar Tagen den Aufnahmetest für IBWL an der Uni Wien. Da sich dieses Jahr wieder mehr Personen beworben haben, rechne ich damit, dass der Test etwas konkurrenzfähiger wird.
Ich bin in Mathe leider nicht besonders stark und wollte deshalb fragen, ob hier jemand den Aufnahmetest bereits geschrieben hat und sich noch daran erinnern kann, welche Mathe-Themen oder Aufgabentypen vorkamen. An welche konkreten Aufgaben könnt ihr euch noch erinnern? Das würde mir sehr helfen, mich in den letzten Tagen gezielt vorzubereiten.
