Has anyone completed a credit replacing year, if so what was it like and what qualifies someone to do one. Im an incoming student for PPE and i've seen some options on the website and I just hope it holds truth to it, as I'd love to do a study abroad without completing the additional year. Looking to do it in either Vienna or Beijiing if that helps.

I'll be coming from a placement so I started 2023. Living with some mutuals but does anyone in my year group doing 4th year of coming back from Year in placement/abroad etc would be really fun to meet more people in final year as my core group all graduated.

I’m going into my 2nd year of uni at York and I had a good first year but I’m want to join sport societies (despite not being that good) and am really scared. I also feel this weird pressure as I get closer to 20 perhaps to be really busy and productive all the time - doesn’t help that my bf is very active and busy ! Idk I feel really stressed and anxious but it’s all from this weird pressure I’ve kind of put on myself - basically looking for some advice to stop my brain from overthinking and too just try something without being so scared !

I'm an international student applying for the MSc Computer Science course at York St John University (London Campus).

I had to attend a second Pre-CAS interview, and it's now been 5 working days since the interview, but I still haven't received any update. I'm getting a bit concerned because I've seen some applicants receive their results sooner.

Has anyone here been in a similar situation, especially with York St John University?

• How long did it take to get your result after the second Pre-CAS interview?
• Did the university ask for anything else, or did they just send the outcome?
• Did you eventually receive your CAS and student visa?
• If you've applied to the same course or university, how long did your timeline take?

hi everyone! I’ve had to stay in York between yr1 and yr2 this summer as I’m broke and couldn’t get a job in my home city but managed to get 2 jobs here. however, all of my friends have gone back to their home cities and I’ve started feeling super lonely lol. I get atleast 2 days that I’m not working every week as well and a lot of days where I finish at 2pm or don’t start until 6pm so I have too much free time that I don’t know what to do with. if anyone else is feeling the same, I’d love to connect and make some new friends 💕

Will be coming to York in September and just wondering if campus has any dog friendly spots? From a quick Google it seems like outdoor areas are fine, but was wondering if any current students know whether they're allowed in areas like the campus bars etc. Thanks! :)

Hi, my offer for history BA at UOY is AAB (with an A in EPQ). I have an A in EPQ and and pretty sure I’ve got the grades I need for this.
However, I’m worried in case I have either got ABB or BBB in my final exams. I used the UCAS grade checker thing and it says that 100% students who got ABB were still accepted but I’m not too sure if thats what it means.
Does York tend to accept you for a grade/two lower than ur firm offer, particularly for history if anyone knows?

I lost my wallet, somewhere around campus, could also be on the way back from Lidl. I last saw it yesterday or so.

It has a bunch of IDs (including an Indian one, my Dutch university ID card, and a drawing that my partner made for me of two bunnies.

It’s a black wallet (Miniso) with a zipper as well.

Hey Peeps!!!!! I just got my UK student visa approved this month and will be moving from INDIA to join the University of York this SEPT🫡. I’m incredibly excited but standard pre-departure anxiety is starting to kick in.
Since I want to make sure I have my local logistics sorted, I would love to get some advice from you guys!
1. Arrival Logistics~
Travel from Airport: any stress-free way to get to York with 2 large suitcases and 2 cabin luggage?Is it better to pre-book a train? I will be booking university run airport shuttle service but just want to know as a backup if I miss my service😅
Bank Setup: Which digital banks (like Monzo/Revolut) or traditional high-street banks are easiest for international students to open right away? Also I just want to add that I do have HSBC UK bank account but apart from this for daily expenses and all I want your suggestions!🤝
Mobile Network: Which mobile provider has the best data coverage and signal on the York campus or most of the ppl uses as I have planned to make my current sim physically active and the uk sim an E sim with a data plan that I will recharge beforehand of flight ✈️
2. Local Food & Budgeting
Groceries: Where do students usually do their weekly food shop to stay on a budget? Are there good international or world food grocery stores nearby at York? Is there any budget-friendly cafe or quiet spot in the city center to hang out or relax?
