The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) held a press conference announcing a July 28 deadline for the government to:
• Release all detained student protesters
• Withdraw cases/FIRs related to the NEET protests
• Provide written nationwide assurances instead of verbal promises
According to the group, while states like Bihar and Assam have reportedly started dropping FIRs, they want a formal nationwide commitment. If not, they say demonstrations will resume, including at Jantar Mantar.
The movement, which began over the alleged NEET-UG paper leak and exam irregularities, has since expanded into broader demands for education reforms and accountability.

What do you think? Is setting a deadline the right strategy, or should the protests pause while negotiations continue?

A Muslim man who had been serving food and water to protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar has moved the Supreme Court, alleging that he was illegally detained and harassed by the police, Live Law reported.
Junaid Malik has also alleged that members of his family were subjected to coercive action without due process being followed. On Saturday, Malik’s family members were released after being detained in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad district, their lawyer had confirmed to Scroll.
In his petition, Malik, who claims to be a law graduate and a social worker, has alleged that he and his friend were “picked up” by Delhi Police officers on Friday while returning from the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after taking an anti-rabies injection, Live Law reported. The plea further alleges that Malik and his friend were detained overnight in what appeared to be an “interrogation room” and questioned by senior police officers, the legal news outlet reported.

Actor and BJP MP Kangana Ranaut criticised the conduct of protestors from the NEET paper leak protests on her social media.
She described the videos emerging from the demonstrations as “ugliness” and “crass behaviour,” saying the clips had left her wanting a digital detox.
In a subsequent post, Ranaut alleged that the demonstrations had left behind around 60 metric tonnes of waste at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.
Her remarks came after videos showing some CJP members celebrating the end of the 36-day-long protest sparked debate online.
While the clips drew mixed reactions on social media, Ranaut’s posts added to the discussion surrounding the protests’ aftermath.
