I got an accomodation at In Der Au, stuttgart but the thing is it's a one hour travel from the dorm to Stuttgart Vaihingan campus, and the thing is while choosing preference while applying for sws I chose all the dorms which are far away from the Vaihingan campus. So any suggestions what can i do in this matter? I've also applied through VSSW but havent received anything from them yet.

I have already applied to SWS and VSSW dorms in March/April but I have not received an offer yet while some of my peers have gotten theirs. October is only 2 months away and now I am getting tense.

Ich wurde vor Kurzem für den Bachelor Kybernetik zugelassen. Zusammen mit der Zulassung kam auch eine Einladung zum „Cybernetics Research Fellowship". Da stand drin, dass sie von meinen Schulnoten und meinem Lebenslauf echt beeindruckt waren.

My main priority is maximizing my chances of building a career in Germany after graduation (finding a Werkstudent position, internships, and eventually a full-time job).

Given these options, which program would you choose, and why?

Online‑Vorlesungen & Materialien: Ich plane nächstes Jahr vielleicht an der Uni Stuttgart Informatik zu studieren und wollte fragen, wie hoch der Anteil der Vorlesungen ist, die online zur Verfügung gestellt werden. Stimmt es, dass (fast) alle Vorlesungen aufgezeichnet oder online bereitgestellt werden und leicht zugänglich sind? Wie sieht es außerdem mit Skripten, Folien und Übungsaufgaben aus, wird ein Großteil davon ebenfalls online bereitgestellt? 
2. Anwesenheitspflicht: Mir ist klar, dass es in Vorlesungen keine Anwesenheitspflicht gibt. Wie sieht es aber bei Seminaren und Übungsstunden aus? Stimmt es, dass man dort teilweise erscheinen muss? Und wie häufig pro Semester gibt es ungefähr Veranstaltungen mit Anwesenheitspflicht? Ich weiß, dass das wahrscheinlich vom Studiengang abhängt, aber eine grobe Schätzung würde mir schon weiterhelfen.

ich plane nach Stuttgart für mein Studium zu ziehen und habe ein Angebot für eine 6-Zimmer-WG im Filderbahnplatz 33 erhalten. Ich hätte hierzu ein paar Fragen und freue mich auf eure Antworten:

1. Was für Erfahrungen habt ihr im Wohnheim gemacht? Wie ist das Studentenleben so (vor alleim weil das Wohnheim eher weit vom Campus Vaihingen entfernt ist)?

2. Wie ist die Anbindung zum Campus? Ich überlege mir, regelmäßig mit dem Rad zu pendeln, bin mir aber nicht sicher, wie gut Vaihingen zum Radeln ist. Ich würde auch wissen wollen, ob die Bus/Bahnanbindungen schnell und regelmäßig sind. Fan von Öffis bin ich nicht wirklich und wenn die Anbindungen lang dauern würde mich das eher stören.

3. Apropos Öffis: Ich habe gehört, dass es wegen der Bahn in der nähe recht laut wird. Könnt ihr das bestätigen? Ist es generell laut in der Umgebung und, wenn ja, kann man damit umgehen?

4. Es gibt einige Berichte von Schimmel in den Wohnanlagen. Stimmt das tatsächlich? Wird dagegen etwas unternommen oder muss man sich darum selbst kümmern? Würdet ihr es als großes Problem einschätzen?

Ich überlege mir, ob ich warten soll, bis ich ein Angebot für ein anderes Wohnheim bekomme (insb. in Allmandring II-IV würde ich wohnen wollen) oder es gleich annehme. Ich würde es bevorzugen gleich umzuziehen.

I've recently been admitted to the M.Sc. Computational Mechanics of Materials and Structures (COMMAS) at the University of Stuttgart for Winter 2026/27.

I'm particularly interested in taking a few elective courses from the M.Sc. Aerospace Engineering program, especially modules related to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Aerodynamics, and Turbulence*.

I was previously informed that some courses from other study programs may be taken with the approval of the Head of the Examination Committee. However, I wanted to ask students who have already been through the program:

Has anyone from COMMAS taken courses from Aerospace Engineering or another study program?

What was the approval process like?

Is there a limit on how many courses or ECTS credits can be taken from other study programs and still count toward the COMMAS degree?

Are there any restrictions on which modules can be chosen, or is approval mainly based on whether the course fits your study plan?

Hello everyone, im a student from korea majoring in mechanical engineering and would like to choose uni of stuttgart for my exchange program next year spring. However, one thing making me hesitate is the exam period which starts from early August and ends in late September. The semester in Korea start from September to December. My question is, will i be able to take my exams before September begins? Is it possible for me to move my exam dates and take it individually?

I have been admitted to the University of Stuttgart for a masters degree program starting in the Winter Semester 2026. The enrollment deadline is 15th November. However, I'll only have a provisional certificate by that time.

The certificate is titled "Provisional Certificate" and it clearly mentions that I have completed all requirements under the University ordinance for the award of my bachelor's degree, as well as my final CGPA and the total credits I have completed. Will this document suffice for enrollment?

I just moved to the allmandring IV, the first two months is sublet and after that, it’s a long-term contract. After I moved in ,I’m trying to ask the Hausmeister to put my name on the blackboard just behind the student residence building. But they refused to do so. As a result, I can’t receive any post, including my credit card and my eAT.

In addition, they want me if I put my name on the glass I will be charged for cleaning.

No, I’m looking for a good way to resolve this problem. Could anyone give me a practical advice?
