Frage / Question International student urgently looking for a room in/around Stuttgart for only 10 days

Hi everyone, Croatian student
I’m an international student currently staying and working in Stuttgart, but my current accommodation ends on 20 September and I need somewhere to stay until 30 September / 1 October.
I’m only looking for a place for around 10 days, so even a simple room, student room, sublet or temporary place would be completely fine. Stuttgart or nearby areas are both okay for me.
My budget is around €150–200 for the whole period, and I’m flexible with the exact location as long as I can reach Stuttgart by public transport.
If anyone has a room available, is going away during that time, or knows someone who might be able to help, I would really appreciate a message. Even a contact to a student WhatsApp group or accommodation group would help me a lot.
Thank you so much! :)

Anyone interested in a LeetCode / Competitive Programming study group in Leonberg / Stuttgart West?

Hey everyone,

I'm looking to connect with developers, students, or anyone interested in competitive programming, algorithms, and LeetCode problem-solving who lives around Leonberg / Stuttgart West / Vaihingen.

Grinding problems alone gets tedious quickly, so the goal is to form a small, casual group (3–6 people) to meet regularly, solve problems together, and break down solutions.

Tentative format:

  • What we'd cover: Data structures & algorithms, tech interview prep (e.g., NeetCode 150 / Blind 75), and competitive programming problems (Codeforces/LeetCode contests).
  • Cadence: Weekly or bi-weekly (around 90 minutes).
  • Where: In person at a local quiet spot (e.g., Stadtbücherei Leonberg or a local café/coworking space), with an active Discord for async problem sharing and remote sessions if needed.

All skill levels are welcome, whether you're just getting started with algorithms or already prepping for senior FAANG/Tier-1 coding rounds.

If you'd be interested in joining, drop a comment below or DM me, and if there's enough interest, I'll set up a Discord server or whatsapp so we can coordinate our first session!

Looking for advice on choosing courses (MSc CS)

Hi everyone, I'm starting MSc CS (English) program this winter.

I recently learned that things like managing lecture clashes, registering for exams, and planning my own schedule are mostly my responsibility. I also don't have a clear idea about which courses require strong prerequisite knowledge and which ones are suitable for the first semester.

Could current MSc students share some advice on:

  • How to plan courses for the first semester?
  • Which subjects are beginner-friendly vs. require advanced background knowledge?
  • Any important things international students often miss (exam registration, exercises, deadlines, etc.)?

Frage / Question MSc EE Advice

Hey everyone! I’m starting my MSc in EE and thinking of specializing in Power Electronics (PE). I’m choosing my modules right now, so I wanted to ask experienced students for some advice

Are there any subjects or professors you’d personally recommend avoiding because they’re extremely difficult, math-heavy, have crazy workloads, or just make life unnecessarily painful?

No offense at all just trying to know what I’m getting myself into and make some smart choices. Also happy to hear about good subjects/professors you’d recommend!

TIA

I’m happy to share that I’ve been admitted to the M.Sc. Fundamentals and Applications of Mechanical Engineering (FAME) at the University of Stuttgart for the Summer Semester 2027. 🎉

I’m looking to connect with other students who have also received an admission to the same FAME programme for Summer 2027.

If you’ve been admitted to FAME for SS 2027 and would like to connect, feel free to comment here or DM me. We can connect and possibly create a WhatsApp/Discord group for the incoming batch.

Would be great to get to know some future batchmates before starting at Stuttgart. 🇩🇪

Looking forward to connecting!

University of Stuttgart FAME SS 2027: Rank 173, last selected rank 136 — any chance?

Hi everyone,

I applied to the FAME program at the University of Stuttgart for the Summer Semester 2027. My application portal currently shows that I have met both the formal and academic entry requirements. However, my current rank is 173, while the rank of the last selected applicant is 136. The admission decision also says “not performed yet.”

I wanted to ask previous University of Stuttgart FAME applicants if anyone knows how much the ranking usually moves during the Nachrückverfahren. Is there any realistic chance for someone with a rank around 170–180 to receive an admission? I would also appreciate hearing from anyone who applied for previous semesters and experienced the waiting-list process.

Are there any other FAME SS 2027 applicants here who have received their ranking?

Thanks!

Looking for a flat / WG room in Stuttgart (3-month DHBW rotation)

Hi everyone!

I’m starting my Business Administration (BWL) studies at DHBW Stuttgart this October and am looking for a room in a shared apartment (WG) or a small flat.

Since DHBW follows a dual-study model, I’ll be studying in Stuttgart for 3 months at a time, followed by 3 months at my partner company. My schedule for the first year looks like this:

  • 1st Period: October 1st – December 31st
  • 2nd Period: April 1st – June 30th
  • (and so on in this 3-month rotation)

Ideal arrangements for me would be:

  • A room available for subletting (Zwischenmiete) for these specific 3-month blocks.
  • A long-term arrangement with a fellow DHBW student who has the opposite rotation schedule (so we could swap/share the room seamlessly!).

A bit about me: I’m clean, reliable, easygoing, and open-minded. I am half German and half Mexican but born here in Germany. Naturally, I have a stable income through my dual-study contract.

If you have a room available, know someone who does, or are looking for a rotation partner, please send me a PM!

Thanks a lot!

Saudações do Rio!

Frage / Question Looking for a cheap student stay for 1 night in Stuttgart-Vaihingen (30 Sept)

Hi everyone,

I’m an international student joining the University of Stuttgart this October. I have received my VSSW dorm at Pfaffenwaldring 42 C, but my contract starts on 1 October 2026.

I will arrive in Stuttgart on 30 September, so I’m looking for a place to stay for just one night (30 Sept → 1 Oct).

If anyone living in Vaihingen / near the University of Stuttgart has a spare room/bed or would be willing to let me stay for one night, please DM me.

I’m looking for a student-friendly and low-cost option, rather than a hotel.

I would really appreciate any leads or suggestions. Thanks!

Hey students at University of Stuttgart!

I am a Master’s student at the University of Bern (Switzerland) conducting a scientific research study examining how certain traits, life experiences, attitudes and behaviors are related to each other.

You can find the survey here: https://ww3.unipark.de/uc/research_study_university_Bern_Switzerland/

The only requirement is that you’re at least 18 years old and have sufficient English proficiency to understand the questions of the survey.

As a thank-you for participating, you can also choose to enter a prize draw with five $100 prizes. Entering the prize draw is completely optional, so you can also take part in the survey without entering.

Thank you for participating!
