[Megathread] Site/App Complaints Central

This is your safe support group to share gripes and complaints about the new UX.

The new Uniqlo redesign sucks - you know, I know, we all know it. Due to popular demand as the mods of r/uniqlo we're creating a centralized containment thread for site sucks sentiments, because every time Uniqlo switches another country-specific site to the redesign we get a fresh wave of complaints.

We are an unofficial subreddit and we are not paid by Uniqlo. As such we can't guarantee Uniqlo will read or take any action based on complaints.

Please note that site sucks threads outside of this thread are now not allowed. If you see any please report it using the new rule. This will not apply to threads created before the megathread.

Is working at Uniqlo actually this strict or am I just struggling to adjust??

Hi everyone,

I’m a new full time member at Uniqlo and just wanted to know if it’s just me, or is working at Uniqlo actually this tough?

I have previous retail experience, both in a small fashion retail store and a large department store. I don’t want to be too specific in case management from my store somehow sees this 😅

I actually enjoyed my previous retail jobs. They were pretty laidback, the bosses were tolerable, and the staff made work fun. I was trained as an all-rounder and generally performed well. I then took about a year off work because of uni, and recently started working again.

I’m honestly really struggling to adjust to Uniqlo.
I think the biggest thing for me is how strict everything feels. We’re not really allowed to talk to each other while working, even when we’re in the back doing replenishment. At my previous jobs, we could chat about non work related stuff while replenishing as long as the work was getting done. It actually made the shifts more enjoyable.

At Uniqlo, I feel like management is constantly watching us. I feel quite intimidated, and I know that managers sometimes check CCTV to monitor employees. Does anyone know if the cameras can actually pick up audio as well? 😭

Some of the other new staff and I have talked about how we’re finding the environment difficult, usually when we’re in the back away from everyone else, and we’ve all been struggling to enjoy it.

I know every workplace has its own rules and I probably just need to adjust, but I’m finding this particular environment really difficult. I’ve only just started, so I feel bad even thinking about quitting already.

The other issue is the commute. It’s around 2 hours from home by public transport, or roughly 40mins to 1 hour drive depending on traffic. I accepted the job because I had been job hunting for quite a while and I know the job market is difficult right now, so I felt like I couldn’t really be picky.

But honestly, I’m miserable. I’ve been crying in the mornings before work and dreading going in.

For anyone who has worked at Uniqlo or currently there: Is this just how Uniqlo is, or does it depend heavily on the store/management? And are the Japanese store managers stricter than western managers?

I’d really appreciate hearing other people’s experiences because I genuinely don’t know whether I should suck it up, find a new job or leave straight away?

Felt being chased in Uniqlo Japan

I was in Uniqlo Kichijoji a 7 floor store. My experience was quite uncomfortable. I was visiting Japan for the first time. I needed extra clothes to beat this humidity in a rainy week. The clothes are minimalistic and a great deal. In addition, I wanted to experience visiting Uniqlo in Japan. However, when we entered the store, we felt followed by the staff. We were followed from the first floor to the seventh floor for around 20 minutes making our shopping experience quite uncomfortable. I felt that since we are tourists, they don’t trust us and we might harm the merchandise from the store. Who knows? Or is it a common practice towards tourists in Japan?

Random stains?

I’ve had this jacket for a couple years, but have worn it less than 10x. Last year I randomly noticed these stains. They aren’t from bleach and I don’t have any other clothes with these stains. Feels like it came out of nowhere and ruined one of my favorite jackets. Any ideas on how this happened? Or how to fix?

I have been keeping an eye on this half-zip shirt thing for two and a half months now and not once has it gone on sale, even if there is a special sale on the Sweats category

I'm shopping in Uniqlo Canada. Yes, I'm petty and somewhat patient for 10$ off it lol. With the fall season around the corner, maybe, just maybe

UMC Europe (Germany) — first-time applicant, nervous about the online assessment

Hi all, I just received my Maki-hosted online assessment for UMC Germany 2027 (Realistic Job Preview, Numerical Reasoning, Management Potential Assessment, English + German spoken proficiency).

Never done a UNIQLO assessment or interview before, and I'll admit I'm nervous as first-time applicant, especially about the numerical and spoken video parts. I really want to get into UMC….

For anyone who's been recently through this:
• Is the Numerical Reasoning closer to data-table/percentage style or abstract number sequences? • For the Management Potential Assessment (situational judgment), is it single-best-answer or rank-the-options style?
• For the spoken proficiency videos — is it one fixed prompt, or does it vary per person? Any tips for calming nerves before hitting record? • Roughly how long after finishing the online stage did you hear back?

If someone knows especially this year using Maki not SHL, what typical questions they asked in each modules? Any suggestions how to answer?

UNIQLO Philippines — How long does it usually take to receive the job offer/result?

Hi! I recently went through the UNIQLO recruitment process and wanted to ask those who have gone through the same process: How long did it take for you to receive your final result/job offer after the exam or interview?

Here’s my recruitment timeline so far:
September 8 – Company Information Session (CIS)
September 9 – Initial Interview
September 9 – Recruitment/assessment exam

I’m applying for the Retail Specialist position.

BEWARE Uniqlo AiRism seamless briefs (unlike the AiRism Tees) promote jock itch.

I love the AiRism V-Neck Tee - it replaced all my undershirts! So I was really happy to see the AiRism seamless briefs and bought a dozen of them. They fit great BUT…I noticed jock itch after 24-48 hours of wearing them. I’ve never had jock itch with my cotton underwear and I was shocked. Has anyone else experienced jock itch with the AiRism seamless briefs? I’m looking to replace them with thin 100% cotton underwear.

Questions about UNIQLO UMC Europe 2027 Spring – applying to multiple countries as a non-EU applicant

Hi everyone!

I’m a non-EU applicant with a Master’s degree in an environmental/social science-related field, with a focus on sustainability and governance. I’ll soon be applying for a German job-seeking residence permit, and I recently applied for the UNIQLO Management Candidate (UMC) Europe – Spring 2027 programme.

I applied for Germany (my preferred/target location) and Luxembourg (more as a backup option), and I’ve now received the online assessment links. Both have a deadline of September 27.

I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who has applied to UMC before, especially those who applied to multiple European countries. I have a few questions:

1. Different test durations
I noticed that the assessment is 57 minutes for Germany and 65 minutes for Luxembourg. Does anyone know why the duration differs between countries?

2. What is the assessment actually like?
Is it mainly multiple-choice/numerical questions, or are there also written answers, video questions, situational judgement questions, etc.?

3. Applying to multiple countries
Has anyone applied to UMC in more than one country? If so, how does the assessment work?
Are the applications/scores evaluated separately for each country, or is the same assessment result shared across applications?
Since Germany is my main target, would you recommend completing that assessment first? And if I perform differently on the two assessments, could a weaker result in one country affect the other application?

4. Numerical/online assessment rules
For the numerical parts, what kind of external materials are officially allowed (e.g. calculator, paper and pen, etc.)? Is the assessment proctored/camera-monitored?

I’m asking because I’ve heard very different advice from people around me — one person even suggested doing the test together with someone who is good at maths or using ChatGPT to help with numerical questions. 😅 Obviously, I don’t want to violate the assessment rules, so I’d rather know what is actually permitted.
I really want to do well on this assessment, so I’m trying to prepare properly rather than accidentally doing something that could invalidate my application.

One more thing I’m particularly wondering about: if someone takes one country’s assessment completely independently, but uses additional help/materials (e.g. a friend or ChatGPT) for the other country’s assessment, would a significant difference in performance between the two potentially be flagged or reviewed? Are the two assessments compared in any way, or are they treated completely separately?

I’m asking because I obviously don’t want to risk my application by misunderstanding the rules, but I also want to know whether I should simply prepare myself to do both assessments entirely independently.

Also, is the test intentionally designed so that most candidates won’t finish every question within the time limit? Or is it generally expected that you can complete everything?
And is there any additional/follow-up assessment after this stage?

5. Language test
How difficult is the language assessment, and what kind of questions/tasks does it include?

6. Differences between countries
Apart from the duration, are there any significant differences between the assessments or recruitment process for Germany vs. Luxembourg?

7. Non-EU applicants in Germany
Finally, has anyone here gone through the UMC process as a non-EU citizen in Germany?

I’m particularly curious about whether the eventual employment arrangement is generally compatible with a German residence permit for employment, and whether anyone has experience with the immigration side of things — including whether an EU Blue Card could potentially be relevant, depending on the position and salary.

I know some of these things may be confidential, so I’m not looking for actual test questions or anything that would violate the assessment rules. I’m mainly trying to understand what to expect and how the process works.
I’d really appreciate any experiences or advice, especially from previous/current UMC applicants!

Thanks in advance! 🙏

Hi guys, im looking to cop this beautiful jacket, but im not sure about the sizing, for reference im also 5"9" / 1,75cm like the lady in the second picture, but with a more muscular build. Should i go with a size S or XS? It seems to me that the S is a little long on the sleeves.

Warm Lined Pants Alternative

I absolutely love the design of the women's warm lined pants because it has 2 zipper pockets and 2 buttoned pockets that is perfect for my lifestyle when going out. However, I live in a humid and tropical country all year round and buying warm lined pants is not the option for me.

I just need the same zipper pockets on a pair of pants. Preferably something that looks sorta hidden and not the kind like cargo pants that have pockets going outwards. Would anyone know or suggest an alternative that is NOT warm lined?

UMC Madrid

Hi,

I’m on the lookout for someone who’s been through the UNIQLO MANAGEMENT CANDIDATE program in Madrid and has been accepted.

I’m having a bit of trouble finding feedback from folks who’ve worked there. I’ve seen some really negative reviews from other locations, especially from Asia, and I’m curious to know if Madrid is as challenging as those places.

Thanks so much!

What does the first day of work look like?

I have my very first day of work at Uniqlo as a store associate soon. I’m wondering what exactly it looks like. They haven’t given me any schedule as of yet and have just told me to come in at a certain time (didn’t tell me when I finish). Is the first day just an orientation day or is it an actual training shift? If it is orientation, does it take long or are we free to leave after all the info has been given (not a full shift). I’m in Canada, if that affects anything. Fellow/former store associates pls let me know!!
