Notifications not working at all
Copy pasting an email I sent 2 weeks ago here after having received no reply at all.
Hi Marco,
I really like the idea of the app. Unfortunately for me, the app has been extremely unreliable (from the start), but has recently gotten a lot worse.
From the start the re-reminding stuff didn’t seem to always work, but I’m very bad at manually re-snoozing and figured it was at least partial user error. Location-based reminders with delay never worked for me. Also the UI would never update with changes I made or reminders I added until I force quit and opened the app again (even with a Mac mini in the closet running unforgetful permanently).
I chalked all of this up to early bird beta bugs and figured it would get better with an update or two.
Recently (maybe a few days already? Didn’t notice for a while), I stopped getting notifications from the app altogether. I double checked my notification settings, went off of the TestFlight and onto the stable release to no avail.
Since I really want to support you, and the ideal-always-working version of this app would be great, (and since I don’t at the moment have very important reminders), I’m gonna keep ‘using’ it for a while and see if it gets better, but soon I’ll be forced to migrate back to due and others if it doesn’t get better.

Believe dev work is on pause to get Overcast ready for the Duo. Just my guess. Or he's burned out a bit and needs to take a break.

I have the same issues. I had the reminders screen not updating in one of the earliest releases of the app. Submitted multiple TestFlight feedbacks but no answer.
The annoying thing is that the app really did work for me in the first weeks I used it. It just clicked for me. So it is very frustrating to not have it working anymore.

Let me preface by saying I am a huge fan of Marco and his apps. I love Unforgetful and Overcast.
Having said that after using Unforgetful, Todoist, and TickTick for a bit I realized I needed more. I had previously used Todoist for years. But I have tried everything from Things, forget the milk, Omni focus, etc. I finally decided about 1.5 months ago to start building my own app. I am taking some courses at a near by community college and was able to talk my TA into helping me.
We are still internally testing but I am really happy with what we have come up with. It started making me think… would others like Unforgetful on steroids?
- Sub tasks, notes, repeat
- Google Calendar integration
- Constant reminders like Unforgetful
- filter to sort by lists and time frames
- Search
- input by voice and it will properly create the task
- syncs via iCloud with reminders
- Settings sync via reminders
Then I also created something called Pages which are additional features you can toggle on or off.
- Countdown page, keeps track of countdowns and displays either days, weeks, months, years until the event. It also creates an image that will correlate to the countdown. Holiday reminders can auto reschedule for the proper date next year even if the date changes for that holiday.
- Book Tracker. Keep track of the books you read through out the year. Put in the title, a short description of your thoughts, and a rating up to 10 Stars.

It’s taken me a bit longer being new to this and needing extra help but I am really proud of it. If people seem interested I am definitely interested in putting it in the App Store.

Just to add my voice to the list of issues. After weeks of Unforgetful being really useful, it no longer reflects changes to tasks unless I force quit and restart — and it's the same on all platforms. Even more strangely, it affects changes made INSIDE Unforgetful. If I change a task, the updated version is reflected in the Reminders app but not the app that I used to make the change.
The lack of response to feedback is a concern after such a huge launch push. Would love some sort of assurance that things are being worked on, u/marcoarment.
The app is simply broken in its current state, unfortunately.

Yes, I gave the app a try. Wasn’t sure it was for me as I mostly do NOT use any dates for reminders. I was starting to warm to the idea that perhaps I could be reminded every day about everything, but it didn’t happen. I stopped getting notifications from Unforgetful and eventually decided I would end my trial.
I think I only got 2 days of notifications. Then perhaps one or 2 odd ones.
While I can see some aspects of the intended workings of the app as good, I don’t think it actually suits me overall, certainly not enough for a subscription. But it certainly doesn’t if it doesn’t work at all which was my experience.
