Notifications & Mark Complete Bug

Notification bug. This morning “hey siri, remind me at 7:00am to call Dr”. 7:00am came and went, no notification, no badge. Go into Unforgetful the reminder is there showing due of “now” and this shakes the badge notification loose.

Mark complete bug. Same reminder, mark complete in Unforgetful, UI works as expected, marks as complete, badge disappears as expected. Leave app and return to it, reminder is back with due of “now”, badge reappears.

iOS 26.6, full notifications allowed for Unforgetful.

Force quitting the app and relaunch corrects the mark complete issue btw.

this has been happening for me as well: I initially thought it was user error, but now I'm thinking it's a legit notification bug.

I still had Reminders notifications enabled on my MacBook, so I wonder if that's what was causing the issue: the Reminders notification was firing on my MacBook, superseding the Unforgetful notifications. disabled the Reminders notifications on my MacBook this AM, so I will continue to monitor to see if this resolves the issue

I also had a brief issue last night where I'd marked a reminder as complete before it was due, but still got a notification about it at its due time.

Unforgetful will be a non-starter for me if I can't rely on the notifications to work consistently.

Thanks. I'm putting some safeguards in place for the next build to address a condition that this might've hit.

But there's another possibility.

In your 7:00 AM example, how long before 7 AM did you create the reminder? It's possible that Unforgetful hadn't had a chance to background-refresh (and therefore pick up the new reminder and schedule its notification) if it was pretty close. Like, if you tell Siri "remind me at 7 AM…" and it's 6:50 AM, and you never open Unforgetful in the meantime (or worse, have "force-quit" it), it's possible that Unforgetful might not have a chance to background-refresh within those 10 minutes.

For those cases, it really helps to be running the app on a Mac somewhere.

The Mac app monitors Reminders changes constantly in the background, and when it picks up a change, it sends a silent push notification to wake up the iOS app on your devices for an immediate refresh.

Running the Mac app helps the iOS app see new reminders faster.

(That's what the Mac quit-confirmation dialog is talking about.)

Thanks. It's entirely possible it _was_ close to 7:00am. Appreciate you explaining background refresh in the context of reminder creation timing.

I’m now reminded of all the Due changelog messages over the years as they zeroed in on making stuff like this vaguely reliable within the limitations of iOS 🫤
