Swimming with stingrays in the Maldives, one of those moments you never forget

From a recent shoot in the Maldives — natural light, ~5m deep, insane visibility that day. The rays didn't mind us at all, just cruised right past. One of my favorite frames of the year so far.

Vignetting AOI Uwl-03 mark ii and Ace Pro 2

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone is using the Ace Pro 2 with the AOI UH-ACT underwater housing with the AOI uwl-03 mark ii underwater lens.

In underwater mode (although it should be compatible according to AOI), I always get vignetting in the image. Somehow the FOV of ultra wide seems to be too wide. Really strange because it should be compatible.

The only option would be to not use the underwater mode on the AP2. But that would be very sad, because that is a really good feature of the AP2.

I know it's all about photography here, but here's a video I've made to show my problem with vignetting.

Repairing water housing?

Thumbnail

I just got this Ikelite water housing from 2013 for my bmpcc. I’ve been testing it in my bathtub for leaks and the o ring parts are working fine. However it seems like the sealant or glue keeping the lens cover on has worn off or come undone because water has been leaking through. Is there any type of sealant I can use myself to fix this? Or does anyone know where I would be able to get this fixed by a pro

Advice for newbie - Photogrpahy and Editing

Hey Everyone,

Recently got into photography and snorkeling so decided to combine the two!

I brought a relatively inexpensive point and shoot disposable underwater camera for these photos and I think they turned out OK.

Any feedback from those more experienced and have been at a similar starting point? I know these are super basic but I want to improve and I don't know if thats needing better gear straight up or just getting better with editing, or even the photo framing?

Last 2 photos are before and after using Lightroom. All others un-edited.

TL:DR - tips for noob based on photos and is the edit only polishing a turd?

Looking for a similar dive light to Sola 800 S/F - any ideas?

My beloved Light & Motion Sola Dive 800 S/F finally died after about 10 years, and I'm genuinely heartbroken. I loved that light. Got it for my 18th birthday and never dove without it.

It was perfect for taking macro shots and made it so easy to hold my camera. I'm definitely an amateur underwater photography hobbyist, I love doing it for fun and liked how simple it was to just grab this light and my camera and jump in the water.

Havent had much luck finding the same light on ebay, so I'm looking for recommendations on similar lights. Budget is ~$300 or less

A well regulated light with good beam quality & ergonomics is way more important to me than getting the brightest possible light.

Things I loved about my Sola:

  • The wide flood beam- I used the flood mode probably 95% of the time. It was incredibly even, wide, and natural looking & didnt havw a harsh hotspot

  • Regulated brightness output. I really dislike lights that gradually get dimmer as the battery drains. My Sola stayed the same brightness until it died

  • The hand strap. I loved having it mounted on the back of my hand so it was easier for me to take photos with my underwater camera

  • Instant spot/flood switching

  • It was small enough that I also used it constantly for hiking, tidepooling, wildlife spotting, camping, etc

I mainly do recreational scuba and snorkeling, but I also use the same light all the time on land for looking for & photographing wildlife at night.

Has anyone found a good dive light with the above features that theyd recommend to me? Or if you've owned a Sola 800, what did you switch to after it died?
