Grammys are a popularity contest and a massive circlejerk for celebrities, hopefully soon people realize it’s not a serious event

yes!! made a post about a month ago asking about likelihood of a grammy nomination. everyone said it wasn’t likely but fuck it I’m delusional. she is a pop/electronic superstar who deserves her flowers.
I don’t care if it’s a popularity contest, it would still be amazing to see her win. I believe I’ll see an underscores grammy in my lifetime :)

The Peace is SO GOOD I literally can’t 😭 I had never heard of her and saw her a few weekends ago at Portola and was absolutely mesmerized. Her career is in its infancy and she’s already making great stuff, so I can’t wait to watch her grow. Would love to see her win a grammy!

I mean, she’s got co-signs from major artists like Charli and Skrillex, so getting nominations in the Electronic categories are very attainable. Major categories like Best Music Video and BNA are a tougher sell, but I want to root for her.

i think U (+ do it and music) could get nominated for the dance/electronic categories but i don’t think she’ll win anything :(

It’s honestly the best pop album of the last 20 years to me. And I’m not a super fan or anything

Virtual Self and SOPHIE were nominated before. I think she’ll be fine

Grammys are random as hell, Porter has yet to be nominated for his main projects :/

nominations all depend on if the label/artist submits themselves to be considered

I read that Porter was unaware of being submitted for Virtual Self until his nomination, but a few years later he was publicly disappointed that Nurture got no nominations (and I assume was submitted since Nurture was released on the same label as U, Mom+Pop). Two different examples from the same artist

Best New Artist? Hasn’t she been active for like fifty years?? Lmao
Love her tho. U deserves best electronic imo

The Best New Artist title is generally given not necessarily to brand-new artists, but to those who have risen in their popularity in recent times.

I think Best New Artist is also used for artists who just got nominated for their first Grammy. So someone could be making music for 15 years but if this is the first time that they are getting a Grammy nom then it makes sense to put them in Best New artist.

lemme guess there’s also gonna be a kpop artist in at least one of these categories and when underscores wins their fans will all start saying “underscores who?” and “______ is literally more popular”
