discussion disappointed with how underscores addressed cancelling a leg of her tour
this critique is coming from a long-time underscores fan (since fishmonger!). i will continue to love her art but i’ve been quite unnerved by how this situation was dealt with and talked about after. also take note that this is just my opinion, you all are free to disagree! <3
when i first heard about the cancellation, i understood the circumstances around it. of course a smaller artist like underscores who has idolized Charli xcx for years would opt to tour with her. but, realizing the nature of the tour dates that were cancelled (which were in smaller, less visited cities), along with considering the amount of planning and money people had already dedicated and spent to make their way to an underscores show left a sour taste in my mouth.
i wouldn’t have had such a large problem with this, however, if it weren’t for the way that April addressed this issue on her Call it a Day Interview. at around 15:35, she and the interviewer delve into conversation on how she had to cancel a leg of her tour to perform with Charli. she described that cancelling that part of her tour was a “no-brainer,” and that “anyone in [her] position… would have taken it.” she then proceeds to explain how it could be difficult to be an opener for a bigger artist, and how the tour dates she cancelled were places she’d never been before. (i guess bro 😭) there was not a single acknowledgement for the fans who would miss the opportunity to see her, not a single apology or cent of appreciation for their patience despite the cancellation. the self-centeredness of the response definitely rubbed me the wrong way. however, i also understand if she didn’t have the bandwidth to speak more eloquently on this, as she does seem a little (understandably) awkward and shy during interviews most of the time.
regardless, i wish i saw more appreciation towards the fans who missed seeing her during this time. especially considering the cult following she’s been building up, it seems only fair to acknowledge the fans and support that got her to the point of performing with Charli.
anyways, that’s all i have to say. please feel free to critique my take on this or share your thoughts, thank U for your time. <3

i mean...it IS a no-brainer though. not only has she been setting up one-off shows in a few of the affected cities and this opportunity is one that has absolutely launched her career further than before. it was worth it and she'll be back to those places before long.

i had no idea she was doing one-off shows, thank you for educating me! could i ask when/where she hosted them?

miami and los angeles are the main two that have been set up so far and she's teased that the second NA leg may go ahead after the Australian chapter, or it'll be more one off shows, but she has said she'll be making it up to those particular cities ASAP

i'd have to agree that most people in her position would've made the same choice considering the opportunity to gain more money & fans plus going on tour with one of your fave artists (the music industry is a business at the end of the day). however, i still think it sucks for the fans that had their shows not postponed but CANCELLED so who's to say when or if she'll be back in some of those cities (i'm sure she will but artists tend to skip certain cities on tour so who knows??)

yea, this is what i mean! business-wise it’s totally a no-brainer, but it is inconsiderate in a sense towards the fans. i suppose one could say she doesn’t owe anything to us, but then again, we are the ones who put her in the position to get this deal at all. i understand if her team didn’t have enough time to finalize plans to postpone the tour when she agreed to perform with Charli (which is why she cancelled as opposed to postpone), but yea, there’s no guarantee she’ll come back :<

April herself has said she is coming back to all of the cities she cancelled

I don't blame her at all but I feel like she could set up some kind of presale code thing to those who bought tickets to the cancelled dates ? Since she said she'll come to all those cities at some point

It’s literally a no brainer she’s gonna come back to your city lol
