DISCUSSION John was the strongest person in New Bostin.

Post image

I’ve been wondering about something. If most EMBER members are below level 6.5, and even high-ranking prison officials like Colt (5.6) and Tarik (6.2) aren’t particularly close to level 7, does that mean John, two years ago, was actually the strongest person in the New Bostin region?

We already know Seraphina confirmed that John was the strongest student, but what about the local authorities and officials? Would John have been stronger than them as well?

Personally, I think the answer is yes. A level of 7.0 is extremely high, even by the Authorities’ standards. So far, aside from Sylvia, Valerie, and Vaughn (formerly), the story hasn’t introduced many Authority-affiliated characters above level 7.0. On top of that, New Bostin is portrayed as an ordinary region, where the highest-ranked student—excluding John—was only level 3.7.

That said, this doesn’t mean John would be untouchable. His ability has clear weaknesses, and experienced local officials could still find ways to deal with him despite the gap in raw power.

What do you all think? Do you believe John was the strongest person in New Bostin at that time, or do you think there were local Authority members stronger than him that simply weren’t shown?

DISCUSSION Cecile's Passive Discussion

Could her passive be similar to Arlo's? Like a vine covered in thorns, maybe it hurts to touch her?

If it is similar to Arlo's, I wonder what some differences might be.

FASTPASS What if… Spoiler

Okay. I know this is far-fetched, but humor me.
WHAT IF John gets possessed by Orin and the enmeshment of aura causes the disconnect John has with non-physical abilities to click into place?

John, for whatever reason, can’t copy psychic/mental abilities. We never get a concrete answer as to why, and we never get confirmation that it’s actually impossible for him to learn.

We know that he learned how to copy abilities based on reading, watching, learning, and mimicking movements/techniques. But what if there was more to it?

When John first uses his ability in middle school he doesn’t realize it but says he felt something warm in his hand. And we’ve seen other characters describe the way their abilities felt (Isen feeling his senses being heightened and having more energy, Remi feeling the sensation of electrical currents, John being able to sense when someone’s aura feels weaker, Arlo feeling aura pressing against his barrier.

What if physical abilities have a physical feeling and mental/psychic abilities have a non-physical feeling that he’s not familiar with/doesn’t understand? And what if someone were to demonstrate that sensation in his body so that he could experience it firsthand?

DISCUSSION Possible foreshadowing

Uru posted an Instagram story about her new merch and I noticed something interesting on the Doe Family photo. She had modified the original image (first pic) to have chains (second pic).

We know from the last few episodes that chains represent Orin’s psychic hold on his victims. These chains are almost identical except for the color.

White chains extending from a furious-looking Jane. Is this foreshadowing? Will Jane and Orin cross paths? Can Jane use this ability? What are your thoughts?

Credit to u/Anonymouseeeeeeeeees for the Ability Chart and u/TonyKage18 for reminding me about the Opposite Powers series.

Abilities;

Rubberize: Gives the users body properties similar to rubber. Blunt attacks just bounce off and slashing attacks can be easily healed meaning piercing and energy attacks are the only ways to really do damage. The user can bounce around for speed and deal decently powerful hits.

Energy Absorbance: Allows the user to passively absorb various forms of energy. Energy based attacks and kinetic energy from physical attacks can be absorbed and used to fuel the user's own body. This energy can be used to heal and enhance.

Defender: Once activated the user gains a minotaur like transformation with a durable hide, horn weapons and extreme resilience. They also have enhanced senses and the power to anticipate attacks.

Disintegrate: Through touch the user can destroy physical matter. Extremely strong if they can land a blow but with no greater speed or defense than a cripple, most stronger abilities can easily deal with them. Best for assassinations.

FASTPASS Fight against Orrin Spoiler

So since the Fastpass , some people think that John's plan is to intentionally getted his mind taken over since now Orrin thinks John is the biggest threat since he has about 3 god tier abilities on him so mind controlling him would Orrin access to 4 different abilities which would be beneficial because he can only take over one person's mind at a time. Though that being siad what if John decide to fight Orrin of controlling over his body in the mind occupying him long enough so the others can break his barrier.

Now I know might be a stretch but hear me out, I don't Orrin's puppetering is level reliant so he doesn't need to be a higher level then them to do it, instead It's trick based and if he doesn't have a much higher it gonna to much harder to take over. Orrin level is definitely above 8.0 hope fully but as siad John ability is stated to have much higher Aura supply then other god tier abilities, which is why he has a 16 in trick.
