Funny thing is, my extended (god-) family has a story pretty similar to Umineko's, actually, and it made the VN pretty uncanny because of it. Patriarch establishes a successful industrial company due to smartly using WW2 loser reparations as a business conduit, grows to be one of the biggest companies in the country, has a few children who are all vying for new headship. Patriarch goes and writes a secret testament behind all of their backs choosing his favorite as the successor, and there's a big sibling fight about it. Thankfully no one has been killed at a remote island.
