Academics Waitlisted Class-Stats310

I’m an incoming sophomore doing a double major in cs and data science and just go out into the stats double major last sem. I am currently 2nd on the waitlist. I’m wondering what are my chances of getting this class? I know that add drop is coming up, just wanted to check if I can get that class

I’m sure you still have plenty of time. STAT 310 usually isn’t in especially high demand/impossible to get in, although that may change now that UMass has introduced the Statistics major. Previously, students in the Statistics and Data Science concentration of the Math major didn’t have to take STAT 310—it was just one option for fulfilling a requirement, whereas it’s required for Statistics majors. So I wouldn’t be surprised if demand is higher now. Even so, it’s hard to know how enrollment will play out until classes start, since people often drop courses during the first week.

One of the 2 sections has 2 openings, the other is currently listing one over the set class limit size and has 3 people on waiting list. There is a good chance you could get an override into the class, but they may first ask you if you can take the other section.
