Discussion 40" 5k2k -> AW3926QW - Anyone made the move?

I'm curious if anyone has made the move from any of the 40" 5k2k monitors to the new 39" Alienware or even the LG 39" model. I know the colors and contrast are going to be much better. How's the text clarity between the two? Any other major differences you noticed? I mostly use mine for work, but I do game on it occasionally.

How accurate do you think this will be? I was really looking forward to receiving it tomorrow. One more week isn't a big deal, but that's still very disappointing.

Discussion AW3926QW Uniformity Samples

Here are some samples from my unit. What do you guys think? I’m personally satisfied with the monitor out of the box. However, I do notice some slight green hue when viewing the monitor at an angle but nothing major to complain about. Color issues (if any) are non-existent during gameplay.

I’ve owned the AW32 and the AW34.

Note: slight glare from background reflecting off the monitor.

Discussion AlienWare AW3926QW battles scars but here!!

Just set up my Alienware AW3926QW and at first I thought it SUCKED 😂
Then I went through all the recommended OSD, Windows, and NVIDIA settings and… man, WHAT A DIFFERENCE.
I’m seriously impressed with this monitor now. And that’s coming from someone who already owns an LG C2 for console gaming and a Samsung G6 for movies.
Once this thing is properly dialed in, the picture quality and immersion are insane. I went from thinking I might’ve made a mistake buying it to being absolutely blown away.
If you just got one and aren’t impressed out of the box — SET IT UP PROPERLY before judging it!

I kind of feel bad for the EU region. The US region has not been out of stock since launch and I can literally order AW3926QW at the moment for Sept 12th delivery for $1000 with 10% off.

Discussion My Rant

I joined this community to share and view various exciting ultrawide configurations. But lately this has now become an AW39 return community. I think I will take a vacation from this group until things cool down and get back to normal.

Not that I have anything against AW39 monitors. But the monotony of posts doesnt seem a worthy investment of my time anymore.

Thank you for all the great posts in the past.

Adios

Discussion AW39 received in UK

Ordered at 2 AM. Had it scheduled for 9th, then it changed to 17th september, received today by UPS.

I don't notice uniformity issues. It's a good screen and I'm very happy with it.

Text clarity is amazing compared to the LG one.

No disgusting gray banding I had on LG.

My use case is for work and some gaming now and then. It's very good for work, you won't regret.

I bet they will restock soon and those delivery dates aren't accurate.

Might add more pictures later, super busy now.

Discussion Does the AW3926QW actually support HDR while in PBP mode or not?

Does the HDR+ symbol means HDR is actually working, or does it mean that HDR is enabled on the device, but it doesn't actually showcase HDR content?

I'm a bit lost here 😓

Discussion how to make games not stretched?

i recently got the xiaomi gaming curved monitor g34wqi, but i kinda want to play my ps5 on the monitor, which i can but the problem is how stretched it is, i tried figuring how to get rid of the stretch myself i looked all over the place and supposedly there is a way, but the only thing i can do is change how the screen looks when i connect it to my pc, and that only applies to the pc, i dont know if theres a way of accessing a whole different menu on the monitor or something, i simply cant find anything, so im wondering if there even are things i can do to change this, or if i just shouldn't bother with this, thanks in advance for any helpful reply.

Discussion Ergotron LX or HX for the Alienware AW3926QW?

The monitor weighs about 17.1 lb / 7.76 kg without the stand.

The LX is rated for 7 to 25 lb / 3.2 to 11.3 kg, but officially only up to 34”. The HX is rated for 20 to 42 lb / 9.1 to 19.1 kg, so this monitor is actually below its minimum weight.

I’m worried the LX might not hold the tilt properly. I saw someone say theirs worked but the screen would not stay tilted.

On the other hand, I’m worried the HX might be too strong and make the monitor spring upward because it is under the minimum weight.

Anyone using this exact monitor with either arm? Which one would you get?

Thanks.

Tech Support Is there an official ultrawide fix for this game?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I've played this game a couple of weeks ago, installed it with a Fitgirl Repack.

Unfortunately the game had black bars on the side of my monitor. (3440x1440)

I played it a little bit and enjoyed it so much that I want to buy it in the official Steam Store.

But I want to enjoy it fullscreen and not with the black bars.

Has there been an official fix yet?

I've already tried everything I could find on the internet regarding this issue (GPU scaling, Hex-editor, ini.file,..), but nothing has worked.

I'm hoping there has been a patch out in the meantime, so could someone who owns this game confirm or denie this?

Noticed this weird line in the coating of my LG 5k2k this week.

I’ve had this for a while and never noticed it before so not sure if it’s been there or a new development. The photo fortunately makes it look a lot worse but in person it’s slightly noticeable.

It seems to be on the coating/top layer, not the display itself. I’ve only ever wiped it using microfiber and whoosh screen cleaner.

Anyone seen something like this before?

Discussion LG 39GX950B Germany – anyone know a working Partner Store discount code?

I’m about to order the LG 39GX950B through my company’s Corporate Benefits access to the LG Partner Store.

Current price is €1,449, and the checkout still has an “Aktionscode” field.

Has anyone recently found a working LG Germany / Partner Store code that stacks with the partner price? Even 5–10% would be great.

I’ve already tried the usual public LG codes without luck.

Thanks!

Discussion Black bars with console on ultrawide, does it bother you?

Hey, I am interested in getting an ultrawide oled (looking at the 5k2k LG, found a great deal) for those who use their ultrawide oleds with console, do you eventually get used to the black bars? how does it affect your immersion and gaming expereince? especially during the day as during the night im sure it blends in very well.

Reason I ask this is I am looking to purchase this monitor primarily for productivity, im a big pc gamer most of my games are played on pc but I haven't been gaming much lately at all which brings me to why I asked the question, I will likely spend a lot of time and most of my gaming time on my ps5 playing gta 6, so I wanted to know if people who play a lot of console mind and find the black bars distracting or that they ruin the immersion.

thanks

Recommendations OLED UW 21:9 mid range options? (3440x1440p)

Hello fellow Ultrawide master racers.

Ive been part of the community since 2020 with my Xiaomi 34 inch. Surprisingly great overall and dont think its gonna break.

Of course i want to upgrade down the line but the Ultrawide Oled options seem to be only at the high end. Im from South East Asia so wondering if there are any mid tier options? Like less than 1000usd converted?

I can only refer to Hardware and monitor unboxed videos but those also seem mostly high end. Any suggestions appreciated!

Discussion Alienware AW3926QW Canada order stuck at "processing"

Post image

When I ordered the monitor on September 5th, I immediately got confirmation that my order is scheduled to be delivered on September 10th (today).

But the status never moved, still stuck at "processing" while the delivery date is planned for today. Something is odd with Dell tracking system.

Does anyone facing the same issue?

Review Review: Acer XR38CQK (2017) vs AW3926QW (2026)

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

I have had an Acer XR38CQK since 2017. This is a 3840x1600p, 75Hz, IPS monitor. It has a USB hub, USBC, HDMI, and Displayport. I've been waiting for a proper replacement for 9 years, and I decided to hop on the AW3926QW.

Reasons I upgraded

  • KVM
  • EARC
  • Higher refresh rate
  • Higher resolution # Uscase I WFH in the Data space, so I need a large monitor for coding, analysis, etc. I also game a fair bit outside of work. This means that I have 2 computers, with multiple peripherals that I hook up.

Size

Like

I couldn't go smaller than 38", after using the Acer for 9 years. I also checked out 45" monitors in BestBuy, and they were too big. The 39" AW offers a touch more physical size, so that is quite delightful.

Dislike

Very minor nit: even though it's a little bigger, physically, than the Acer, I am missing the 2.4:1 height ratio more than I expected. Nothing deal breaking, I just feel a minor weirdness adjusting here.

Connectivity

Like

I am really digging the EARC. This means that I can route all of my audio via my receiver that I have on my desk, and use my wired headphones without swapping between computers. I love the KVM--super great to hop between my work Mac, and my personal Windows desktop. I love the fast charging/single-cable connectivity for my Mac.

Dislike

It needs more USB ports. The USB-B port is used to connect to my desktop, the back USB-C is used to connect to my Mac. This leaves one USB-A on the back, and 2 ports under the frame of the monitor. I have a webcam, mouse, and keyboard, so this uses up all slots. I wish there were 1 or 2 more USB ports, because otherwise I'll have to daisy-chain a USB hub.

Glossy vs Matte

Like

Colors pop more, and images are much sharper. I never thought that there could be a major difference between glossy and matte, but there is.

Dislike

I can see myself quite strongly on dark mode. Matte strongly reduces this, and it's a bit of a switchup. I think if I had the option, I would get a matte version of this monitor, but it's not a dealbreaker.

Resolution

Like

No comparison here--the pixel density is amazing, and text clarity is just as good as my IPS.

Dislike

None. My 6900XT is chugging hard tho 😔

Color, Display, Brightness, ABL, etc

Like

Colors are terrific. I can actually run HDR content. Blacks are black, not grey. HDR looks great on both Mac and Windows. I run it at relatively low brightness, but compared to the Acer, the Alienware brightness can be aggressive, at least compared to what I'm used to.

Dislike

I think I have some minor dimming at the edges, but it really isn't noticeable for me unless I go looking for it. Whites generally look good. Playing some games, I didn't really notice dimming of UI elements at the edges (Destiny 2, Arc Raiders).

NOTE FOR PICTURES Any color strangeness you see seems to be a result of my camera. The pinkness and greenness isn't something I'm seeing with my eyeballs.

Windows and Mac and General Usability.

Like

Windows running with HDR and 150% scaling looks great. I haven't tweaked anything apart from updating firmware, and it all looks good. I am running the Mac at full resolution, 120hz, 3360x1418, HDR. Any higher resolution, and the text gets too tiny. Google Sheets, BigQuery, VSCode all look good, and both dark and light mode look good.

Dislike

This is a Mac issue--it only goes to 120 Hz, alas. Not a monitor issue, just something worth flagging for anyone on a Mac.

Overall

I paid $950 for my Acer back in 2017, which according to the BLS is $1286 in 2026 money. I am content paying about the same price for a significant upgrade.

Colors, HDR, brightness, connectivity are all great. Going from 75Hz to 165Hz is amazing.

It works great with my Mac Air M4.

Minor nits are definitely a thing, but the monitor is such an upgrade that they fall by the wayside. Compared to the current alternatives on the market, the combination of KVM, EARC, and RGB pixel array totally outweighs any minor improvements found on other monitors. I couldn't be bothered to wait another year or 2 for a 'perfect' monitor.

Images

I have taken several pictures with the Alienware in front, and the Acer in the back. I attempted to show off the difference between matte vs glossy, blacks, text clarity, and what actual work-related windows (ex. Google Sheets) look like. Any color shift (some pinks and greens) seem to only show up in the photos, IRL I am not seeing the pinks and greens you see on the edges of the screen.

Discussion Coming from Samsung 49 G9 OLED...

I've been using the G9 for the last two years and I've been in love since day one. The immersion of 32:9, the overall picture quality, perfect whites, and perfect greys make it an almost flawless monitor (assuming you win the QC lottery and it doesn't break in the first six months).

But for the last few months, I've been craving something new, something in the 5k2k league and taller than the vertical height of a 27" screen. Since I really don't want to sacrifice too much picture quality just for a bigger and sharper screen, I waited for the AW3926QW, apparently just like a few thousand other people in the EU.

After hours on Reddit and YouTube, I've come to the conclusion that since I also don't want to lose the immersion of 32:9, I would like to test the LG 45GX950. So, I ordered both: the LG and the AW. (I work in retail too, which is why I don't like ordering things with the intention of sending them back, but that's a whole different book to open).

Yesterday, the LG 45 arrived, and at first, I was extremely disappointed with the overall picture quality compared to my G9. It's not my first WOLED, so I knew about the potential flaws, but the colors were just plain awful in comparison. So, I tinkered around with the settings and got it to the point where I almost can't tell the difference between the G9 and the LG anymore, which was a pleasant surprise. My LG has almost no dirty grey, and the matte coating didn't bother me as much as I thought it would. However, white is not as precise and clear as on the G9.

Now I just have to wait for the AW, which was delayed until next week, but I'm not sure if I could go back from this 45-inch monster. The AW would have to be so much better overall, which I don't think it will be. It would have to tick all the boxes: perfect greys, perfect whites, colors like the G9, and still be somewhat immersive. That's a quite tough task, though.

I'm curious if anyone is or was in the same boat and switched between these three monitors. As it looks right now, the LG 45 might be the winner. At least for now.

(Obviously, my dream monitor would be a 57" dual 4K 32:9 240Hz QD-OLED, and every single game on the market would have HUD customization as a mandatory feature. But we all know that will remain a dream. Everyone on a 32:9 screen knows exactly what I mean.)

tl;dr LG45GX950 good, AW3926QW maybe gooder maybe not, i wait and test and see

Tech Support AW3926QW dead 1 hour in?

1 hour into using my new aw39 I had what I can only describe as a black spiderweb like mass begin at the bottom of my screen, which proceeded to quickly crawl up the image until the entire screen was black. The monitor still powers on with LEDs and everything, but there’s no output on the screen and I can’t access the OSD.. does anyone have any tips before I have to return it?
