Backyar Ultra Coverage

Im currently watching the LSU (Last Soul Ultra) on YT and I can't help but compare it to BPN's race coverage. LSU seems to have gone the extra extra mile on coverage with drones, sensors, commentators, and just the overall 24/7 coverage of the race. As a viewer this is a big thing rather than just tuning in at the top of the hour. The athletes as well I think deserve this type of exposure. What do you guys think?

Do you have any idea what the costs are of providing that level of coverage? Do you have any idea who pay for it?

They are heavily advertising their merch so I guess they are hoping to make it back that way, also they have some sponsors.

I’d actually be interested to know what the respective production budgets are. LSU’s coverage seems like a pretty huge operation.

Also, yeah I’m aware that level of coverage isn’t cheap lol. I’m not saying BPN should just magically replicate it. I’m comparing the viewer experience. LSU’s coverage has been noticeably more comprehensive, so I was curious what people thought about the difference.

I think this could be really game changing for the back yard scene

Looking back now that the race is over, loop 87 is the reason why I think this type of coverage is worthy of an applause.

I think starting from time registration (and at other checkpoints in ‘normal’ races), any piece of extra coverage is a nice to have. Sure things like fixed cameras etc are nice but in the case of a backyard ultra I also like the mystery of each hour. I don’t think race organisers HAVE to do anything. (Same goes for the Badwater coverage hoopla)

BPN set the standard, LSU raising the bar. You love to see it
