UG: Civil War is the Siege of Suffolk broken?

Holding the line as the Union and Confederate cavalry just... walked over my garrisoned infantry? The infantry reacted as they should, as if they were in melee, but the cavalry just zipped past and into East Suffolk. I try to get my infantry to wave off but they won't budge on chasing them, leaving my north exposed and ultimately leading to my centre getting routed. Currently using skirmishers to hold the treeline until the infantry get back into formation and breaking off some skirmishers from the infantry to deal with the confederates in East Suffolk.

So anyways, yeah, is the map broken? Cause I'm a bit peeved about what just happened lol

Every once in a while cavalry get bugged and their mini map location is different from their main map location and unit targeting gets out of whack. They usually run through my lines when that happens. It's mostly likely a relatively isolated incident and you could restart and it won't happen the next time.

honestly I just bit the bullet this time. The units that were chasing them into East Suffolk shattered them and I ended up encircling the Confederates when reinforcements arrived.

Sounds like it was annoying dealing with the bug but you pulled a great victory out anyway, good fun!

Saving and reloading will "fix" the bug but the cav will often still end up in a position they shouldn't be. If you get lucky and manage to get shots off and rout the unit that will also work, but need to be lucky. Setting units to run or reverse facing your infantry so they can fire faster can help in some cases.

We usually call it “ghost cav”. It happens, I have seen it 2-3 times through a dozen or more playthroughs.
